What To Expect

Meet your guide at Florence’s Piazza della Repubblica. With your skip-the-line ticket in hand, make your way past the general entrance lines outside Florence Duomo, and head inside the famous place of worship.

Also known as the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the Duomo is one of the world’s largest churches. Hear fun facts about its history as you admire Paolo Uccello’s clock and frescoes by Giorgio Vasari.

Next, you’ll head up the staircase, making your way through corridors that have been off-limits to the public for centuries. When you reach the top, you’ll be rewarded with views over the city from the terraces—more than 100 feet (32 meters) above ground level. Hear how Brunelleschi created the dome without the use of scaffolding, a feat that defied the traditional rules of architecture.

If you want to climb even higher, then head up to the top of Brunelleschi’s Dome. Your skip-the-line ticket gives you access to the vantage point at the highest level of the church.

Your tour finishes inside the church, but you can stay inside for longer if you like. Your ticket also grants access to the Great Museum of the Cathedral, Florence Baptistery, the Great Museum of the Duomo, and Giotto’s Bell Tower. Attractions must be visited within 48 hours of your tour.

VIP experience of the Duomo
Randi_K, Sep 2023
Excellent tour of the Duomo! A very that unique experience where you get a VIP pass to see and learn many things about the Duomo that you wouldn’t in the typical tour. We loved it and it was an unforgettable experience. Thank you!
Beautiful views
Ashley_R, Sep 2023
The tour guide was great and provided great insight to the city and everything you can see from the top. The climb is very do able. This was something we would highly recommend to those traveling to Florence.
Great!

Great experience. Guide was very informative, and helpful. An amazing tour. Climb was not too bad as it was in stages
An Experience you will never forget!
Irene_G, Sep 2023
Amazing experience with a brilliant tour guide! She knew everything & was soooooo informative. Not a question she couldn't answer! Wonderful experience & one we will treasure. Thank you xx The Morris Girls xx
Beautiful view of Florence!
Natasha_S, Sep 2023
The view from the duomo was absolutely spectacular! I personally didn’t mind the climb, but there should be a warning for people with vertigo and claustrophobia (as the stairs get smaller and smaller as you go up). There are a lot of stairs, so be prepared!
Beautiful view
Rebecca_C, Sep 2023
The view from the top of the duomo is lovely, and it was really nice to be up there without the crowds. We did a few other tours of typically crowded places during peak hours and this was a nice break from having to dodge other people and wait in long lines. Francesca F was friendly and pointed out plenty of interesting things, especially from the top of the duomo. She showed up on time and proactively rounded up those of us who had gotten there early and were wandering around looking lost. Be warned that even small backpacks apparently aren't allowed on the dome climb or in the museum. Francesca showed us where to check our backpacks (for free), but had I known that even small backpacks would be a problem, I would have brought a (bigger) purse so I wasn't trying to juggle my phone and a water bottle in my hands while climbing. The baptistry unfortunately had construction going on inside when we visited (and apparently will continue to have construction for some time) but it was still nice to see. The pastries at the coffee shop were good and it was neat to hear crickets in the cathedral as the lights came on.
Amazing

Absolutely amazing experience. Would 100% recommend. Do NOT let the early start deter you. Our guide Andrea was truly terrific. She is extremely knowledgeable about art history which made listening to her throughout the tour so enjoyable. You meet in front of the Cathedral, walk inside and tour the ground floor and then go get breakfast which is included in the price. Afterwards you go back to the Cathedral and walk to the top and words cannot describe seeing the frescos on the ceiling up close and then seeing Florence from the top of the Duomo. Would HIGHLY recommend!
The climb is worth it!
Joshua_P, Sep 2023
Our tour guide was incredibly gracious, knowledgeable, and patient and provided a lot of really great historical context to everything we were seeing. Anyone taking this tour should be aware of that, if you have issues with claustrophobia or fear of heights, this may not be the tour for you. The stairway up to the Duomo is narrow and there are a lot (a LOT) of steps, but that's not at all a reflection on the tour guide and the views of Florence are totally worth the effort.
Sunrise Duomo Breakfast Tour
David_M, Sep 2023
Breakfast tour of the Duomo was well worth starting at 630am. First in at 8am without the crowds made it a special time, almost eerie. Our guide explained the story and history of the building as we made our way through, eventually climbing over 400 steps to get to the top without other foot traffic impeding our way. Very special event that was well worth the money and the long-time wait to check off this bucket list item.
Worth every penny!
Jamie_W, Sep 2023
This was awesome. I’m not always a fan of tour groups, this one was great. Worth every penny. We got to access a terrace that is not open to the public and the view was incredible. We had Frederica and she was awesome!
Must do trip
Simon_W, Sep 2023
Excellent tour for a must do when in Florence. Whilst the views from the top of the cupola are outstanding ( after a strenuous climb, the real highlight was the private visit to the south terrace, which gives great views but also gives unique views of the cupola. Tour guide was excellent. Would advise to do as early or late in day as possible especially in summer , it’s cooler but you get better photos. Also advise to do early on your trip as tickets also give access to museum , crypt and church for 72hrs.
Stunning!
Dawn_E, Sep 2023
It was incredible to be unclose to the ceiling of the duomo and the views outside were incredible! The tour was very informative and a once in a lifetime event. Parts were a bit longer than they should be we felt but loved being given a close perspective on the beautiful painting and views.
Climb to the top
Jeffrey_B, Sep 2023
The view from above was amazing, the ceiling inside was really something to see and the walk up was a thrill. The guide was very informative.
Lots of steps!
Evan_G, Sep 2023
It was a great tour & our guide was very knowledgeable. She answered all our questions. Being able to see the Terrance was a nice add on.
Amazing view of florence

Spectacular Duomo Skywalk & History
Michael_M, Sep 2023
We met our guide and the group in a nearby plaza. She took us directly into the drama and skipped a large line of people. After an informative tour of the main floor of the church, we ascended up into the Duomo. It was a room, narrow and steep climb, but well worth it. we got to see the dome out from inside at two levels. And we got to tour the outside of the Duomo, including the very top. The views were spectacular. It was well worth it to take this tour. I highly recommend taking this tour because you see every part of the Duomo, while getting an in depth explanation of how it was built and the story behind the artwork. Don’t miss this opportunity.
Climb the Duomo

Great tour and our guide FFrancesca was just awesome. Highly recommend the early bird session to witness the opening of the Duomo and then enjoy being the first visitors on the top of the Duomo - just magical!
Wonderful beautiful

Awakening the Duomo - Worth it!
Sarah_M, Sep 2023
We did the Awakening the Duomo tour and let me tell you…WELL worth the price/early morning. You walk in to the cathedral with the lights off and they turn them on just for your group. Magical! You get breakfast across the street (coffee and a pastry) and then get to be the first and only people in the Baptistry. Then you go back to the main church and start the climb up to the Duomo. We were the ONLY people up there and could climb up in peace (which was very nice since most of the climb is through narrow passage ways). Throughout the tour, the guide gave great historical information and answered any questions with ease. Highly recommend this tour!
Lovely Sunset Views of Florence from the Duomo!
Kevin_W, Sep 2023
My wife and I really enjoyed the tour of the Duomo! Not only was the Cathedral itself beautiful, but with the 6pm tour, you end up getting a spectacular sunset view of Florence. The ticket also includes access to the Opera del Duomo Museum and the the Baptistery of St. John -- each worth a visit. The walk up the Dome is moderately difficult -- I wouldn't go so far as to say it's strenuous -- but wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to catch your breath at each stop along the way. Our tour guide was Maria Cristina -- she was knowledgeable, friendly, and, even used her iPad as a visual aide to provide historical context for the tour. She also helped manage the flow with additional tour groups to ensure we had adequate time at each stop along the tour. (In fact, if there's still a way to tip her for the tour, we'd love to do so -- we forgot to bring cash!)
