Our guide, Marcello was extraordinarily knowledgeable, with outstanding insight; this being said by someone who is not prone to hyperbole. Wonderful tour with Maria Cristina

Maria Cristina was absolutely wonderful! My daughter (18) and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour. If we had not had this private tour, we would have missed out on so many interesting and special places. She listened to what questions we had, figured out what might interest us from there and then shared some really cool things. We had a little hiccup meeting with her at first but I think it was down to a cultural/linguistic error where we understood something in parentheses to be a the name of the bell tower but it was actually another building and was an added fact. She waited and when we called they directed us to her easily. Maria Cristina was kind, spoke perfect English, had extra material on her iPad and was just generally knowledgeable and the perfect person to give us our tour. She was very personable and I thought getting this private tour was absolutely worth it.

Claudia was the best guide. She explained so much foundation and details of art history as it fit into history. She explained stories of the art we saw and answered questions we had about present time Florence. Most helpful and easy going in terms of time. We loved Natalie, she was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable, engaging, interesting and fun. She brought the whole Duomo story to life, with lots of inside information and snippets of stories of life at the time of building. She got us engaged by asking us questions, always including our 15 Yr old son as well. We covered the Baptistry, the Duomo and of course the beautiful Brunelleschi cupola, the only downside was that Viator let her down with our having to queue in the rain to get into the Duomo. Not Natalia's fault at all but she was upset and tried to refuse our tip. Very poor show by Viator, we'll take it up with them separately. We still had a wonderful experience so thank you Natalia!!

Deceptive advertising

The tour and the guide were excellent, but the ad confirmation led us to believe we were going to be picked up and transported to the Duomo. Not the case.

Thank you for leaving us your feedback, however we would have appreciated a higher rating as you found the tour and the guide excellent. The pick up with private tours is usually arranged with the clients and is normally agreed to be at the hotel, however the guide would walk with clients. In your specific case your hotel was a little outside of the historic city centre and the guide suggested to take together public transportation. The transfer with a private car is never included unless specifically requested. We are glad anyway that you enjoyed the visit.

Our Expectations Were Exceeded

I traveled to Florence with my 83 year old mother and wanted to tour the Duomo. Our tour could not have been better. Silvia, our guide, was amazing. She requested permission for my mother to be allowed to sit in areas that were off limits and it was allowed. She was exceptionally knowledgeable in history and about the Duomo Complex. She was patient and kind. Her English was easy to understand. She welcomed questions and kept the tour at our pace--whatever that was. We had three hours. The tour was worth every dime. I highly recommend!!

Our tour guide Riccardo was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. He paced the tour to make sure our kids were able to keep up and customized the presentations to ensure their involvement. This experience was by far the highlight of our two week trip to Italy. Ask for Riccardo!

There is a lot to see on this tour, so be prepared to move quickly. Our guide started us off in the Baptistry and was very knowledgeable about the history of the building, the architecture inside and the artwork. We then moved on to the Duomo Museum. It would be easy to spend days in the museum but we moved fairly quickly through it so we could make our appointment to climb to the top of the dome of the Duomo. It's a lot of steps but it's not all in one straight shot so it's not too bad. Our guide pointed out the incredible scenes on the frescoes in the top of the dome. From there it was another climb out to the very roof itself. From here we enjoyed the stunning 360 degree views of Florence and the surrounding Tuscan countryside. As for our guide, she was very friendly and engaging in addition to being incredibly knowledgeable about all aspects of the Duomo...the history, the art, and the architecture. She made a special effort to connect with our teenage sons, especially our youngest 13. Overall this tour was absolutely fantastic. The only downside is that we had to gloss over a lot of the museum's exhibits because of the time needed to start and complete the climb. Our tickets allowed us to go back to the Duomo complex including the museum anytime over the next 72 hours but as we were already booked up we weren't able to take advantage.
