This is an incredible experience and we would HIGHLY recommend for your visit to Guadalajara. Luis is an exceptional host and guide who will go above and beyond to make your experience one-of-a-kind. He’s an excellent storyteller, highly knowledgeable of Mexican history and the surrounding geography, and is overall a huge pleasure to converse with. We will definitely be booking another tour with Luis when we visit again!

Not worth the price.

This tour was incredibly disappointing. I booked it for five of us for $90 each which was on the higher end of most other tours. For almost everyone in my group it was their first time ever visiting Tequila. We were supposed to visit two distilleries and also the town of Tequila. The first spot they took us to was closed and all we did was walk around an agave field but no other activities were planned there. The next place they took us to look like the herradura distillery but we were not allowed to enter because the tour guy said the owner had just died. When we asked if it would be replaced by visiting another location the tour guide, Don Ramon, said they wouldn't replace it with another distillery. We even made one suggestion of going to see Tres Mujeres which we had seen as we entered the town but our tour guide was not interested in anything we suggested. His response instead was that we would have more time in the town. They dropped us off in the town square of tequila and walked us over to the Jose Cuervo house where there would be a tour at 1:00 p.m., not by the tour guide we hired but by the Jose Cuervo staff. This tour was actually fun to participate in and is the only place that we were able to have a tasting. At the end of the tour we asked the staff member who had taken us around, it was a group of about 30 ppl, how much it cost for the tour and he told us it was the equivalent of $7 US dollars. We then went out to have lunch on our own before heading back to the van with the rest of our tour group around 4 pm. We basically got a ride to Tequila and back but not a tour. Our tour guy was incredibly unapproachable and unhelpful. We saw other tour groups and they had done other stuff to feel at least welcomed and had been provided with lunch and at least a bottle of water. If I would have known definitely would have booked another tour company or even a driver because it would have been half the price to get there and come back.

We are very sorry that your opinion of the work of our colleagues is this, however as a company we offer you all the services that we promised to deliver, on time, with a good attitude and with the quality that supports us.

Highly recommend. Transportation is clean and comfortable with air conditioning. At arrival of pickup location, you are greeted with coffee, tea or water. The tour is very informative, educational and fun. Thank you to our tour guide, Dante, for an exceptional experience.

It’s an ok trip, the guide wasn’t very informative although very kind. The agave field was next to a parking lot that smelled like a sewer, the distilleries were interesting and well guided but very commercial so not for someone looking for high quality craft tequila.

Absolutely brilliant, our guide Ramon really knew his stuff and answered all our questions. The first distillery out in the countryside was really fascinating and the tour and tasting seemed much more engaging than the one in town. Tequila itself was a beautiful town. I have been before without a guide and the proper tour was definitely a brilliant experience. Just be aware that you come back during rush hour so make sure you plan a longer return time into your day

Enjoyed the tasting. Top notch. we went to tequila on a holiday so it was overcrowded and all restaurants were packed. We didn’t eat. (Not really the fault of the operator but it would have been nice to have a reservation somewhere) Jose Cuervo your was ok but felt it was a repeat of the tasting. Would have enjoyed more time in Tequila. Very nice guide.

Worthwhile Comfy Trip to Tequila

Fantastic your experience. We were picked up on-time, our guide spoke excellent English, and there were 6 people in a 12 person mini-bus. The bus was spacious, clean and the air conditioning worked great! The stop at an agave field, was just that. Not a proper farm or destination, we pulled over on the side of the highway where there were numerous agave fields. We stood at the edge of one for about 5min, where our tour guide Marc gave us a great intro to agave agriculture and the jima and jimadores. It was great - just know you’re not at a proper farm or anything of the sort. The two distillery stops were great. The first was AMAZING. A family owned but large commercial operation. Marc showed us around, gave excellent explanations of the history of tequila, the distillery, and the distillation process. We felt super welcome and not rushed here. Very relaxed. A distillery employee led a tasting of 4 tequilas and 2 liquors. We were the allowed to taste more gratis and some time to shop. The La Rojena tour at Cuervo was the opposite. Wham, bam, push you through. Minimal tasting. Great to see, but hyper-commercial and without personality/character. Tequila city is, well, not much more than La Rojena. We had time for lunch + 1hr of free time. Lunch at El Palomar was satisfying, but nothing to write home about. We could’ve done with 30min to walk around after (all six of us agreed). Be ware of afternoon traffic into Guadalajara. It took less than an hour in motion to get to Tequila. It took 2+hrs to get back in heavy traffic. Great experience! Would recommend. Safe. Comfortable. Informative. Thanks, Marc!!! P.S. Our 5yr old did great on this tour and said she enjoyed it very much.

Several highlights but too long a day

There were parts of the day I enjoyed very much, visiting the farm and both tequila tours, but the start of the day was a shambles with transport and the journey home took 2 and a half hours. I was tired and fed up by the time we were dropped off (very late) at our evening restaurant. It was difficult to answer the question about whether or not I would recommend the tour to others.

The actual trips to the 2 tequila factories were actually quite good and interesting. However the travel logistics were a nightmare. We were pick up at 8:50am and eventually returned back to Guadalajara just after 8pm over 11 hours later. We spent over 5 hours on buses which spoilt the experience.

My wife and I had a very fun day visiting Tequila, and the beautiful blue, world heritage, agave fields surrounding the area. I also appreciated the email we received the day before the tour stating the specific time of our hotel pick up point. Berenice was our guide for the day. She was great: simpatica, knowledgeable, personable, amazing. Thank you! Our first stop was to see up close some of the agave fields where we learned that it takes 8 kg of agave to make a liter of Tequila - and to to see the enormous jars of dégustaticion used by tasters visiting the area. Our second stop was at a small distillery where we had 4 (more modest) tastings (age dependent). Delicious and relaxing. (Would recommend a big breakfast since the tasting was just after 11:30am.) Tequila town is beautiful and lively. We had a quick lunch at the Mercado, and then went our our tour of Cuervo distillery. Amazingly beautiful facilities and delightful tasting. Berenice, thank you for making ou day so much fun. Your explanations about the making of Tequila was so much better than those by Cuervo guides. You made our day!

We expected alot more from the tour and tour guide. The 6 hours were filled with alot of quiet. We were thinking alot of fun laughs, drinking and music but got the complete opposite. Just lot of people working for the pay check and not the passion. And not to mention the almost 2 hour bus ride to get back to guadalajara. Best recommendation is to just go to the heart of tequila and get a barrel tour. Those busses are going to have the experience your wanting from Tequila! You will have more fun
