Waterfalls!

Waterfalls, waterfalls, waterfalls! That is my favorite part of this Shaka Kauai tour. A lot of the hiking was muddy due to all the spring rain, and we needed a shower and a washing machine after getting to our condo, but the views of “sleeping giant “ were amazing. Waimea tour was excellent. You can’t go wrong!

Love this!!! Did 3 of the 4 Kauai tours and this is great for these reasons: - Love being able to go at our own pace including starting and stopping when we want (no more “LET’S GO otherwise we’ll miss our bus!”) - Also the GPS automation means it goes at your pace as well and they did a nice job telescoping the directions. - Reasonably certain that we went some places a formal tour wouldn’t (e.g the small history museum at the Moana Surfrider Hotel in Waikiki - we did a few Oahu walking tours as well) - Narrator was fun. Couple of suggestions - They might want to give more history dates when talking history. - I think I did go off route at one point and would be nice to have a “nudge” saying “hey see you’ve left the tour route. That’s cool but just wanted to check in” or something like that. Highly recommend. This is a GREAT use of a smart phone and hope you add even more locations

Bad and frustrating experience

Took forever to get loaded. We did not enjoy this because it doesn't tell you when you need to turn on a different road and the speaker did not tell about places we went by. We quit it after 30 minutes because we were frustrated.

We loved this audio tour! We did the Waimea Canyon drive and the narration made it an amazing trip. The product gives you directions, awesome places to stop for view points and attractions as well as interesting stories and history of the area. Gilligan’s Island beach, secret beach, Waimea canyon views were all great! 3 of the tours were really great. The Poipu one was lacking in info on restrooms and restaurants in comparison to the others.

Excellent tour package. Wish the hikes had more instructions. trails were very badly marked (nothing to do with this tour), so would recommend people to pre plan hike trails (little reception when you get there). Self driving tour was awesome. Would recommend to anyone who likes to do things on their own time

We really enjoyed going at her own pace on one of the four driving tours we purchased. It was easy once we figured out how to use the navigation through our rental car. (Tip-fully download your tours when you’re in a Wi-Fi connection) The tour would just pick up if we skipped a spot/stop. We enjoyed the stops along the way and explanations for what we were looking at, and the known history. We also liked the music in between. I would definitely recommend the Shaka tours in Hawaii!

I chose to get this last minute in case anything got cancelled or changed on our trip. So glad we did. We used this to explore Wiamea Canyon and it was one of the better times on our trip. We were able to explore at our own pace, and skip those things that didn't interest us. We had done all private tours up to this point, which is great but expensive. This was like our own little private tour at a fraction of the cost. So glad I found this.

This is a awesome tools to use during the trip. We had a down day where we decided to use the app. It took us to 3 beaches, 2 awesome food stops, beautiful sightseeing points as well as giving us a taste of their culture and history. Wish they had one for all the 50 states and territories. Saved us money on an expensive private tour.

Listening to the guide. Would have liked it if you missed a turn it would tell you to turn around if you wanted to stop at last stop. Better idea of how to skip a step that you will have to turn around and go back the way you came if you don't want to do certain things. Parking in some places is really hard. All in all we enjoyed our tours. Three seniors took this so we didn't do any of the hiking.

Highly recommend this driving tour .. lots of activities with an entertaining & informative history of Kauai. There were hiking trail options & beach stops plus historical cultural sites. Many of the points of interest were not packed with other tourists & without these 4 tours we wouldn’t have experienced the island in such depth. Glad we made this purchase.

The Shaka guide is perfect! We drove the Waimea Canyon tour. The guide gives great background stories and facts. It feels as though you have your own guide in the car. Also, trust the suggestions for where and when to stop and take a look. For us, there was a bit of a learning curve. You must be sure to follow gps, then start the tour when you're at the designated point. I'm sure once you get the hang of it, you can start and stop tours easily.

Just do it!! Nothing could be more intimate than driving your own vehicle with a self-guided tour of Kauai. The app worked perfectly, even without internet and told us exactly where to pull over to stop. Honestly, I was shocked at how fantastic this tour app was, and you can't beat the price. This is definitely worth getting if you have access to a vehicle while you're in Kauai. The app was so easy to use. You can easily start and stop the tours at any time; the tours detect where you are via GPS so they will restart wherever you are. The directions were spot on and easy to follow. Each of the 4 tousr contains tons of sites/activities. And the sites they took us to were wonderful - beautiful waterfalls, interesting historic sites, greating hiking trails, etc. So worth it!
