Mike is a wealth of information about the history, culture, religion, architecture, etc. about the Amish. He was very professional and accommodating. We toured interesting and varied homes and historical locations. I’d highly recommend this tour to others.

The entire tour was amazing. We had a small group the day of the tour. We toured a few historic cemeteries, farm houses and had the best ice cream. Worth the price of the tour. He also suggested stores and restaurants to visit.

Learning about the Amish Way of Life

We took our 3 grandchildren on this excursion. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed it. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because the children (13,13,9) would have preferred more time on the farms interacting with the Amish families. I think this excursion was geared more towards adults.

We're happy to hear you enjoyed the experience and your guide. As for the brakes, the van completed and passed Pennsylvania state inspection one month ago in September - including brakes. They do sometimes make a bit of a noise depending on moisture and amount of weight in the van. There is no safety issue, but even so, we would be happy to be without the noise and will be having them checked very soon. Thanks for the feedback.

We would recommend this tour to friends and family. Dale our tour guide was so informative, a retired high school history teacher which you can see from all the history he shared of the history of this area. We will definitely book another tour on a future visit.

When you ask each member of our family (ages 11-78) what their most favorite part of our recent vacation (6 days split between Philly, Lancaster, Gettysburg, and Hershey) was it would be this tour. I had read all the previous reviews and knew it would be good, but it was 100 times better than I even expected. Getting to stop and tour 3 different Amish family’s properties, meeting the parents and children whose kindness towards us was amazing, and having a knowledgeable tour guide (Mike) that shared so much about the Amish community was beyond fantastic. We all enjoyed the ice cream shop stop - quite sure it’s the creamiest ice cream we’ve ever had. Ending the tour at a little Amish market was the cherry on top. We were able to purchase souvenirs, jams, and delicious desserts. The fried cream pies are a must! We bought one, tried it, and promptly went back to purchase more. All in all, I can’t recommend this tour enough. If you’re debating between a couple different tour options, as I was, choose this one. You’ll not be disappointed!

Great tour. It was more like 4.5 stops as the 1st stop we stayed in the car. I’d suggest either touring an element of that far or skipping it entirely and spending more time elsewhere.

It was all equally good. The visit to B&D farm was impressive. The Dairy farm would have been more interesting if the cows were being milked. Didn’t have enough time at the store. Loved the ice cream, it would be nice if you could see it made.

Mike was wonderful! He grew up amongst the Amish and Mennonites, so he clearly knows their ‘real’ story beyond the outside world assumptions. Learning about how they’ve progressed and tried to keep up with the modern world while still respecting their individual and communal traditions was fascinating! Mike is open and honest so come ready with questions! He also has individual ear phones so everyone can hear him clearly no matter where you are on the van or at each site. Our only drawback - which isn’t Mike fault - was with the rain, we basically ran from the van into a barn, met some animals and then went to the next spot. If the weather was better, walking around the full farms and having the chance to possibly meet and chat with the Amish would have made this an actually immersive experience. With not interacting with any Amish beyond the stores, it was not as unique as we had hoped for. So my suggestion would be, if the weather isn’t looking good, try to rebook for another day so you can actually get the full immersive experience. The van is extremely clean and easy for all passengers with the high ceiling. There is a large step into the van, but Mike is prepared with a sturdy steel stool for everyone to use. There are bathrooms at the visitor center where you meet - but they are not open for the morning tours as they begin too early. Mike made a group stop across the street at Sheetz so everyone was ready for the tour! There are also bathrooms available at the creamery and country store during the tour. Mike came prepared with umbrellas as well for anyone who needed them and was conscious of the temp in the van and made sure everyone was comfortable. Overall - it would have been an amazing experience had we actually had the opportunity to chat with families and their kids. Having brought 2 kiddos myself, had they had a chance to say hi to other kids they would have been more engaged. We would do the Amish meal next time to have a more personal experience.
