Pickup details

We limit the amount of hotels we visit for pickups, so that we can spend more time at the Dam, and less time on the bus doing pickups. Our hotels for pickup are strategically placed up and down the strip including downtown, so your own hotel should be either right next door or a very short walk away from where you will meet the bus.

What To Expect

Following pickup at select Las Vegas hotels, climb in to the climate-controlled vehicle for the drive to the Hoover Dam. Get to know your guide and small group along the way, learning about Hoover Dam history through your guide's commentary.

Upon arrival, start your visit with the Powerplant Tour. Descend 524 feet (160 meters) into the walls of the Black Canyon to see the Nevada Powerwing. Stroll through the generators and see the enormous pipe inside one of the diversion tunnels. After poking around in the depths of the earth, take the elevator back up to the Visitor Center. Get a full picture of the Hoover Damn's history through the exhibits and displays that show the building of the dam and its daily operations.

The highlight of this tour is the Walk on the Top portion: trek over the top of the dam itself. This excursion is one of the only from Las Vegas to offer this option. Stop by the bypass bridge to see the dam from above, before hopping back into your bus to head back to Las Vegas.

During the trip home, stop for lunch to fuel up after your day of learning, seeing and doing.

Your tour concludes with drop-off back at your select hotel in Las Vegas.

This was our first guided tour of anything. We were so glad we did this one as we would have never seen all the things we saw, nor learned the history and details. Our guide Trevor was so knowledgeable...and funny! We thoroughly enjoyed the whole trip. We got to walk up on the bridge that overlooks the dam. That one has some stairs or switchbacks to go up...but the view is so worth it. The pickup point was a very short walk from our hotel. The bus was right on time and Mel, our driver was amazing. The ride was so smooth, and he made getting around seem effortless. The only downside was that the government had cancelled the inside part of the tour. But we were treated to a side trip to Boulder City instead! We were given time to roam the town and get coffee and such. I would absolutely recommend this tour. Just be sure to wear comfy shoes !

Fantastic

What a fabulous tour. Recommend this tour to anyone that is looking for a historical perspective. Felt like we were being taken care of from the moment we were picked up until We were delivered back to the starting destination.
Informative and Entertaining Tour
Marjorie_D, Mar 2023
I live in Vegas and had my 18 year old grandson and his friend visiting for spring break from Michigan. My goals for the trip were for them to be informed and entertained. The guide achieved both with his informative narrative about the history and construction of the dam and lighthearted joking about modern life! The power plant portion of the tour was canceled by Dam management that day. Something about an elevator malfunction. The tour company handled the change as promised. They subbed a stop in Boulder City with choices of activities. And they offered a refund for anyone who didn’t wish to take the tour.
Dam Good Tour
Joseph_G, Mar 2023
Our guide, Trevor, was amazing and hilarious! It was a shame that the elevators to the interior of the dam were not working. Realize that’s not the fault of the tour. Stopped in Boulder City to make up for that. Cool town!
Disappointed
Barbara_E, Mar 2023
Upon bus pickup we were told that the interior dam portion of the trip was closed . We were given the option of money back or go on trip anyway . We opted to skip the trip . Very disappointing since I’m sure this was known before the morning pickup and should have been advised at an earlier time .
Trever was a great guide...
Darryl_F, Mar 2023
Trever was a great guide very funny and informative, the driver made us feel very safe especially on the twisty roads with deep drop offs getting to the dam.all in all it was a great time !!
Enjoyed the Dam Tour
Anthony_B, Mar 2023
I truly enjoyed the comedy, the sights, however the main attraction about this tour was visiting the inside of the dam. I would recommend others choose a tour that didn’t include that in the price. I’m gonna do the same tour as part of my Grand Canyon tour. Going inside the dam was the only reason I paid the extra money.
Great! but not advertised as a comedy tour
Collin_G, Mar 2023
Everything was great. I didn't realize it was a comedy tour which was a pleasant surprise for me. Other guests I could tell were not happy about it. I can't blame them as it was not advertised as such. There was no indication on booking that it was led by a comedian and was considered a comedy tour.
Tour did NOT deliver!!
Aron_C, Mar 2023
Very disappointing. Was told up front that visit to the generators was cancelled due to elevators not in service. A refund was offered but took the tour anyway. Found out when we there that other tours were using elevators to the generators. Did not appreciate being lied to. Very poor business practice. We should have been advised of this prior to the tour date to give a chance to book another tour. Tour guide talked too much about his own stand up comedy. Not what I wanted to hear. And he was not very funny. Not a complete waste of money but close. The visit to the old Boulder Hotel was nice and the lunch was good, but could have done that on my own. Expected much much more on a professional tour. Not impressed at all.
We had a great tour guide...

Harrison was hilarious and informative. We would travel with this company again. Thanks for the facts and laughs!!
Tour guided by a comedian...
Christian_S, Mar 2023
Tour guided by a comedian who was knowledgeable about the geology of the area and the history of the dam building.

Best dam tour I’ve been on!
Stephanie_N, Mar 2023
This tour was worth every penny! Harrison was extremely knowledgeable about the Hoover Dam, the history and area, plants, animals, etc. He is quite the comedian (literally) and kept the tour lighthearted while informative. Would definitely recommend and give 5 stars!
Great Tour, Great Host - BUT did Not get to go Inside Hoover Dam
Kathy_S, Mar 2023
We did the Ultimate Hoover Dam Experience with Harrison as our comedy host. Harrison was excellent for the job; very funny, personable and a fun person. He gave us lots of history and general info on the Las Vegas area, Boulder (another stop), Hoover Dam, By-Pass Bridge overlook. Bottled water was furnished and plentiful. Lunch was included and it was okay. It was a sit down lunch at Omlett House in Boulder. I was hungry and enjoyed mine, One of my three friends enjoyed his as well, but the other 2 friends were not satisfied. I was not expecting a 5-star restaurant so it was more than the usual sandwich and chips that is passed out with lunch-provided excursions. The views and picture taking opportunities were plentiful. The only reason I did not give a 5-star review was this tour was supposed to include a tour down inside the dam to view the power plant operation (the main highlight of the tour). On the morning of our pick-up we were informed the service elevators were being serviced and that part of the tour would not happen. We were offered a full refund at this point. No one asked for a refund as we had taken the time to get up early, take a cab to our pick-up location, and understood that it was no fault of the tour operator. During our time at the Hoover Dam while going through the visitor center one of our group got to talking to another person from another tour. They WERE GOING INSIDE THE DAM FOR THE POWER PLANT PORTION! This other tour was told 3 of the elevators were down and they were only allowing a minimum number of tours to participate. After reading several reviews, it appears to me that this has been the norm since COVID. Is the dam limiting the number of people allowed to go down inside it? Could the dam let the tour operators know in advance when the elevators are scheduled for service? Did the tour operators already know? We had fun and enjoyed the tour very much but if we had known BEFORE booking that there was a good chance we would not get to do the entire tour; I would have probably passed, especially at this price. We were offered a full refund though before departing from our pick-up location (in their defense) and we did not accept it.
Very pleased
GT_B, Mar 2023
Our guide and driver were professional, courteous, and fun to be with. They delivered a good tour and kept our attention all day.
Hoover Dam
Stephen_B, Mar 2023
Amazing example of human endeavor. Had ample time to explore it. Unfortunately could not view the inner workings as had been promised
Disappointed
Sarah_L, Mar 2023
Elevators did not work couldn’t go on bridge. Was disappointed about that. Don’t want to say more but it is making me.
Exceptional driver and guide.
Lynda_S, Mar 2023
Lala navigated the heavy traffic so smoothly like the pro she definitely is. Really impressed. We appreciated that she was able to slow down safely so we could have a better look at the longhorn sheep. Harrison was friendly, funny, and extremely knowledgeable. He was able to impart a tremendous amount of information without droning or sounding like he was reading from a script. Never felt rushed during our stops. Was pleasantly surprised at lunch. The food was good and Kathy and her helper served us immediately.
