Overview

On the outskirts of Vegas, once the neon lights fade and the sound of traffic is replaced by the rush of the wind, the Valley of Fire is a geologic wonder that’s best explored on two feet. • Choose an easy, moderate, or difficult guided hike among the red rock formations and petroglyphs
  • Keep your energy up with complimentary snacks and water

Pickup details

Pick up will be at your hotel or a hotel relatively close. You will be contacted 1-2 days before your reservation date to confirm pick up time and exact location. If you are staying at a hotel or rental home away from the strip or downtown you will be asked to go to the nearest Strip or Downtown hotel property.

What To Expect

Depending upon which option you choose, this Valley of Fire hiking tour either leaves Las Vegas at sunrise, or later in the day in the late morning or early afternoon. Once you meet with the rest of your group, which won’t exceed 13 people, leave the lights of Vegas behind and begin to commune with nature, as you travel out into the wide-open desert.

Along the drive, make a stop at the Moapa Indian Reservation to pick up some fireworks, liquor, or cigarettes that are completely duty-free.

When you enter the Valley of Fire State Park, your guide explains the area’s history as well as its fascinating geology, and leads you to the trailhead of whichever hike you’ve chosen.

Over the course of the trek through the park, learn about the erosion and seismic fault lines that have created the rugged terrain, all while surrounded by a surreal landscape of enormous, deeply red rocks. For thousands of years, Native American-Indian tribes have lived and survived in this landscape, and your guide offers some fascinating insight to their legends, history, and myths, as well as point out some ancient petroglyphs that have been here for 3,000 years.

Water and snacks are provided for the hike, and once you’ve conquered the dusty trail and soaked up the epic beauty, you have the chance to explore the Valley of Fire official visitors center. On the car ride back to Las Vegas, rest your legs and watch the scene slowly change outside the window, as the windswept desert slowly gives to the glitz, glamor, and lights.

Traveler Tips

Go with the early hike unless you want the experience of feeling like your cooking in an oven.
Not too hard, not too easy, about 5 hours from start to finish with the drive included.
Would highly recommend the morning tour since it is not as hot, and there are less people at the park so you feel like you have the whole place to yourself!

A hike I would do again!
Rebecca_M, Mar 2023
A wonderful experience. I did the moderate hike, which was challenging but still thoroughly enjoyable. Dustin was a top tier guide, both knowledgeable and easy-going. And of course, the landscape was beautiful. I would definitely do it again!

I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend my 18th birthday! Our tour guide, Mason, was INCREDIBLE!! I am truly convinced the tour was as memorable as it was because of him 😁 The views were immaculate and felt surreal. I really appreciated the snacks and drinks that were provided, especially since I didn’t get a chance to eat breakfast. If you book this tour, you won’t be disappointed!!

This was just AMAZING our tour guide Matthew was really knowledgeable about everything and super attentive, we walked a lot, experienced wild life from a super close spot, walked, climbed a little bit (we were on an intense hike) and left with a smile on our faces (and sore legs but totally worth it)

Sarah, the guide was very knowledgeable and attentive. My mom had some difficulty walking through an easy hiking course but Sarah helped her along the way. Loved the views, stories and vegetation. Amazing.
More of a drive, less of a hike
Marlene_S, Mar 2023
Still trying to figure out why this tour is constantly getting 5 stars reviews, went most of the time spent is in the car getting to and leaving from the park, and not hiking. If you are ok with spending this amount of money to be in the car 3,5 hrs and hiking much less, go with it. Why not a tour at the same price at Red Rock instead which is next to Las Vegas so that people can actually enjoy a long good hike and get value for their money ? Mat (our guide) saved the day.
Response from Host, Mar 2023
Hi Marlene. We appreciate the feedback and the kind words about Matt. If you are available for a chat I would like to help figure where the breakdown was on the day of your hike. Generally customers are not in the car that long. We are very sorry that it negatively impacted your day and hope we can make it up to you some how. Please reach out to letstalk@lovehikes.com so we can properly address this situation for you.
Amazing!!!
Kassandra_J, Mar 2023

Christopher_W, Mar 2023
This hike was amazing. Our guide Nick did a great job and was very friendly. The moderate hike only had two parts that were short that were a little difficult. I would highly recommend it!

Tara_B, Mar 2023
Our moderate Valley of Fire hike was epic. It's a must do if you're visiting Las Vegas and you crave an awe inspiring reset. Our tour guide Nick has incredible knowledge of the terrain and natural habitat. He lead us on an unforgettable adventure. You can't go wrong with this tour and Nick as your guide!
Difficult but worth it
Oriana_M, Mar 2023
We did the difficult route and it was excellent. Yes we did have to use our hands and feet at times but in exchange we were able to see beautiful scenery at the high points and were able to get into some tight spaces that were incredible. Our tour guide was very pleasant and we could tell that he loves the park and loves giving this tour. Thanks Nick.
A real hiking tour!
Christiaan_M, Mar 2023
This is one of the best hiking tours you can do when you’re visiting Las Vegas. And it’s not only hiking, almost climbing too. So beautiful up there. You really experience the beauty of Valley of Fire and not just the highlights alongside the road. And our guide Nick was the best!
Awesome!
Shari_V, Feb 2023
Matthew was fantastic. We did an intense hike, and it wasn't that difficult. He gaged what we could and couldn't do as we went along and offered modifications for those less experienced.
Amazing hike!
