What To Expect

Book your required ticket and on the day, board your comfortable cruise boat at Westminster Pier at leisure.

Settle on the open-air or indoor deck as you wish, and then sit back and enjoy the panoramic views of London’s skyline and waterfronts as you cruise eastward to Greenwich.

During your journey, keep your camera ready as you sail past a string of top London attractions, including the Tower of London, Shakespeare’s Globe, and Tower Bridge. Admire the sights and learn their stories and secrets, as well as the history of the Thames River, via the entertaining live onboard commentary.

On arrival at Greenwich, take the opportunity to explore its many attractions (own expense), perhaps visiting the Cutty Sark, National Maritime Museum, Greenwich Market, or Royal Greenwich Observatory as you wish; all of them within strolling distance of the pier.

We lucked out with great weather. Our guides claimed they were not professionals but they were just as good (don't forget to tip them). We strongly recommend going early in the day to have more time in Greenwich, especially the Greenwich Market.

Very poor commentary...

Very poor commentary offered by a crew member. The content was very obvious and inaccurate in parts. Either have a decent commentary or don’t bother. At the end of the commentary we were told several times that the commentator was not professional speaker but just one of the crew ostensibly doing us a favour for which a tip ease pecked and a bucket brought round to us. Very poor as if I wanted to give a tip I would have done it as I left the boat.

We happened to choose a good time to take this trip from Westminster to Greenwich, with a high tide lifting the boat to give a good view of the surrounding buildings. The commentary from the crew was informative, interesting and humorous, as well as conveying sadness at the excessive amount of ludicrously expensive properties built on either bank, many/most of which are empty for much of the time. As a native Londoner he clearly felt that excessive money had taken the heart and life out of his city. Sad, but a realistic assessment.

Volunteer guides come up on to the boat to point and explain the sights. We liked it. The day though windy at first turned out to be beautiful and sunny. Wished there was more to see other than the bridges. We would have loved to know a little bit more about the newer hi risers, though the historical building history was beautifully explained.
