Traveler Tips

The only downside to the whole day is the shuttle bus ride there and back, if you get car sick easily this will be rough, as the trip goes over the alps and is very winding at higher speeds.

Fantastic - well worth it
Colleen_S, Mar 2023
Fantastic day - guide was well informed and the pace was perfect. Scenery was stunning. I struggling with the altitude a little and the guide was incredibly helpful.
Well worth it!!
Melissa_R, Dec 2022
Lots of sightseeing and activity. As a solo traveler, it was fun to meet the people in the group who came from around the world and have a shared experience. The tour was well organized and worth the money. Be prepared for an entire day of activity and travel.
Elevation as high as you can get.
Larry_B, Dec 2022
Great all-day tour, the sightseeing was amazing, beautiful and indescribable. Much more interesting than we thought.
WOW! Is an understatement.
ENEIDA_V, Oct 2022
This has been one of our best tour we have been to. Elise our driver was very professional and Jorge our tour guide was amazing, not only very knowledgeable but extremely responsible for his passenger 🏔❤️
Awe inspiring.
Edward_W, Aug 2022
The gondola and train up to the top to see the breathtaking views was a lifetime experience. We also walked through the ice castle and it’s amazing ice sculptures.
CROWDED AND LINES AND NO FOOD!!!!
Dan_H, Aug 2022
Crowded!!!!! You will be treated like cattle on this trip. Jammed into trains, buses, and elevators. On one train, you sit face to face and knee to knee with strangers, literally touching one another. Once you finally get to the top, it only gets worse. Pushy, self-entitled people everywhere. And for lunch? After waiting in line 30 minutes, I was lucky to get one of the last items: an awful pickle juice and cheese sandwich. Avoid this trip at all costs if you have any dislike for crowds and lines. The guide was great, the only positive from this awful experience.
Response from Host, Aug 2022
Dear Dan, Thank you very much for joining our tour to the Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe and for sharing your experience with us. With up to 5'000 visitors per day, the Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Switzerland. While we try to make the journey as comfortable as possible with priority group boarding and reserved seats, the trains are usually booked to the very last seat during the summer holidays. We are sorry to hear about your experience at the self-service restaurant on the summit and will forward your complaint to the responsible restaurant manager. While we understand that peak days can be very challenging and requires a lot of patience for all parties involved, it is in our best interest to ensure that nobody has to leave with an empty stomach. We apologize for the inconvenience caused to you and hope that you will still keep many happy memories of your visit to Switzerland! Best regards, Amanda from Best of Switzerland Tours

Going to jungfrau. I was disappointed that didn't get to stop at either interlocked or grindenwalk. I thought that was part of the tour
Response from Host, Jul 2022
Dear Adrienne Thank you very much for joining our “Swiss Alps Day Trip from Lucerne: Jungfraujoch and Bernese Oberland” and for reviewing your experience. We are truly sorry to read that the tour programme did not meet your expectations and you were disappointed by not visiting the towns of Interlaken and Grindelwald. While the tour description on Viator/Tripadvisor mentions a short visit of Interlaken, it does not say anything about visiting Grindelwald as we only pass by this village to start the ascent to Jungfraujoch. The tour starts with a 1 ¼ hour drive from Lucerne to Interlaken and in Interlaken we stop for about 45 minutes allowing our guests to grab a bit to eat or soak in the bustling international atmosphere of Interlaken, the duration of the stop depends on traffic conditions. The focus of the tour that you have joined is taking our guests to the Swiss Alps and up to Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe, the highest train station in Europe and the journey itself to reach Jungfraujoch takes some time but is very diverse and offering great views from the ride on the Eiger Express gondola and the cogwheel train. We hope that you were still able to enjoy a great day in the Swiss Alps and hope to welcome you back on our tours on your next trip to Switzerland. You may then want to join our “Independent Bernese Oberland and Jungfrau Region Day Trip from Lucerne” which allows you to explore the towns of Grindelwald and Interlaken individually for 5 hours. Best regards Best of Switzerland Tours
Tour Guide good, Jungfraujoch a Chance
Tressa_C, Jun 2022
Monika was a very nice tour guide and told us information about the area. Great sites to see along the drive. It is a lot of money though and the weather in Switzerland is not very predictable especially at the top of a mountain! So you're taking a chance on that you will have a clear view at the top with good weather. If it is cloudy or has been stormy then not all of the activities would be available to you at the Jungfraujoch. Interlaken is just a short stop to get a coffee and use a restroom. I would visit the Jungfraujoch and Interlaken again but on my own more than likely and not a bus tour.
The most memorable part of our visit to Switzerland!
debweb52, Jun 2022
Loved the cable car, loved the Ice Palace, loved being at the Top of Europe! Picture-taking opportunities are endless!
Tour is great! Avoid Crystal Restaurant
Camilo_R, Jun 2022
Our guide (Rebeca) was good; however our experience at the Crystal Restaurant (at the top) was horrible. Personnel was very rude with very bad manners; it seems that they were doing us a favor, it is a very expensive restaurant with a beautiful view and good food, but unfortunately all waiters and host gave us a very bad service.
Response from Host, Jun 2022
Dear Camilo, Thank you very much for joining our excursion to the Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe and for sharing your experience! While we will be happy to forward your kind words to your tour guide Rebecca, we are truly sorry to hear that your lunch experience at the Crystal Restaurant hindered you from fully enjoining your day. As lunch is not included in any of our tours, our guests get to decide individually, which of the different restaurants on the summit they would like to have lunch at. Switzerland is known for its high standard of living and the high costs associated with it, which is also reflected in restaurant prices. As obtaining and transporting food and beverages to relatively remote restaurants sitting at 10,000 feet costs, even more, you will find higher prices in mountain restaurants than in the cities. Nevertheless, we regret that you were not satisfied with the service and will be happy to pass on your feedback to the restaurant. We hope that you will still keep very fond memories of your visit to the Jungfraujoch and hope to welcome you back on tour during your next trip to Switzerland! Best regards, Amanda from Best of Switzerland Tours

The trip was very well organized and the guides were exceptionally helpful. After a late start (due to traffic), the rest of the day was just a great experience.
All great except unnecessary stop
maraptilen, May 2022
It was a lot of fun and our guide was great. Only issue was the stop in Interlacken, the stop was only so that we could pick up more people, it was too short to really see anything, but to long to make it a quick stop. I would have rather had the extra time on the mountain. Loved Jungenfrau!

While out on the observation deck at the Top of Europe site someone in a "racing" style plane went zipping between the building & the nearest peak - Incredible Also totally enjoyed the glacier tunnel. Enjoyed the entire day
Another off the bucket list

Excellent in everyway, Jorge was a great guide and the whole trip was a once in a lifetime experience from beginning to end. I would really recommend this trip if you are going to Switzerland, we were based in Lucerne and the pickup was very convenient just by the station Go and be thrilled
Great day out
merissadavid, Mar 2022
An amazing experience, we were fortunate to have good weather that day. There are a lot of beautiful views if you can bear the cold so I recommend wearing a few layers and definitely wearing gloves with touch screen capability. I also recommend bringing a packed lunch prior to getting there if you don't want to spend money on the cafe/restaurant as it's not cheap. Overall a great experience and would say it's worth it.

Fernando was amazing as a tour guide! We had more than enough time at each stop and overall had a very memorable experience with my friends. Definitely will recommend this to anyone and everyone!!
Best tour so far!
Tommy_H, Oct 2021
Our coach was very comfortable and made it very enjoyable viewing the countryside! Manual, our driver was great and very polite. Our guide, Yolanda, was very personable and knowledgeable. Great trip and certainly recommend to do while in Switzerland!
To of the list as well as Europe
Dave_H, Oct 2021
Superb from start to finish. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly without being pushy. Highly recommended for all travellers to the region
Can't top this......in Europe
William_S, Sep 2020
This trip has so much to it. The cog wheel train ride, the views from the Sphinx observatory, viewing and walking onto a glacier, the ice tunnel, and food and drink at 11,333 feet. It was an incredible experience. Our guide was very informative along the way and added to the trip. The only downside to the whole day is the shuttle bus ride there and back, if you get car sick easily this will be rough, as the trip goes over the alps and is very winding at higher speeds. However, even with that the trip is worth the time and money.
