All Island Tour with Dee Dee
RoyL_C, Sep 2023
Great personal care taken by Dee Dee for all her passengers. She greeted us as if we were old friends. She went still further to serve us by returning my wife’s handbag that was mistakenly left on tour bus. She drove to NCL tender site to personally deliver the handbag. Dee Dee is Home Grown Tours most valuable asset. Roy and Janet Crumly
A wonderful afternoon in MV

The personal anecdotes our guide Devin added to his narrative enhanced our ability to grasp the evolution of the island and its past & current communities. The Orange Peel Bakery stop was a bonus. Julia’s passion for her craft is amazing; her commitment to her community & customers is inspirational.

Deedee from Homegrown tours was amazing. She is a very informative, knowledgeable local resident who provided history , historical photos , and the stories behind the history. Also provided a great flavor of Martha’s Vineyard today.

Awesome Martha's Vineyards Tour!

I brought my parents to Martha's Vineyard on Saturday, August 6th and wanted them to see a large part of the island in only a day. This 3 hour bus tour was perfect. Didi, a three generation islander, was a fantastic tour guide. We started in Oak Bluffs, a simple 3 minute walk off the Ferry to her Blue and Yellow Home Grown Tours Bus. It was that simple to get on. Didi took us to all 6 towns including two stops at Menemsha and Aquinnah to see the gorgeous Cliffs and Lighthouse. There is also enough time to get something to eat. Didi also brings a lot of the making of the movie 'Jaws" to life right in front of your eyes with stories from the film production and great sound effects throughout the trip. She is treasure of the island and I was tuned in on every word she said. This Tour is perfect if you're looking to visit all 6 towns and you do not have a car, and doing so in a short amount of time. The only thing I would recommend to Didi would be to spend more time on the Tour in Edgartown, specifically main street. That little town is the Jewel of the island (or at least a close second to the views at Aquinnah). Other than that, I wouldn't change anything : )
The tour guide needed to...
Peter_N, Jul 2022
The tour guide needed to be a bit more in tune with who he was driving; mentioning Spike Lee never smiles and is not nice to a bus filled with black people is not necessary. In addition, him pointing out confederate statues or plaques, black segregated beaches should be avoided whenever possible. My opinion
Worst tour ever
nkslewis, Jul 2022
This tour was the worst. The driver/tour guide Didi was rude and impatient. She refused to let a man translate for his wife because she didn't want anyone talking while she was talking. We rushed to get to the meeting spot because our ferry was late arriving, but got there with a few minutes to spare. I asked if my husband could use the restroom before we left and she said we'd be stopping in 30 min so we got on the bus. We didn't stop for over an hour. The tour guide seemed like she wanted to rush through the tour as fast as possible. We had one stop instead of two and were threatened with being left behind if we were late returning to the bus. Most of the tour was spent driving through the island while hearing her stories. We hardly saw anything. Additionally, most of the listed inclusions never materialized. We got a tiny bottle of water but no snack, the AC wasn't working well and the bus was HOT and there was no swag bag or items passed around. I feel ripped off as the tour wasn't worth nearly what we paid.
Highly recommended!!

Our tour guide was a fourth generation Martha’s Vineyard resident who grew up here. He had incredible knowledge of the island and was very entertaining when speaking on this really great tour.
Great Tour.

Most Enjoyable Experience on Martha’s Vineyard

Visit to Manemsha fishing village and view from Aquinnah. Devon was our driver and narrated throughout the tour with local color and interesting history as we rode thru Chilmark and Edgartown. Highly recommend this introduction to Martha’s Vineyard.

Troy was a great tour driver. The other things promised were never delivered. And we were just left hanging until Troy appeared!
Excellent tour with great communication
Kelly_P, May 2022
Excellent communication through text. There was a delay to the start time and they gave me enough information so that I took the ferry at a later time. They also provided helpful information on how to get the ferry and which one to take. The tour itself was fantastic. We had several stops where we could get off and take pics. Make sure you use the restroom at the ferry before you get onboard the tour bus. If not, be prepared to use the porta potty on the stops. Our tour guide, Devin, is a 4th generation islander and shared a lot about the history. He was very engaging and friendly. You definitely need to book the tour to get a feel for the island. Highly recommend!
Great Tour
Sherry_B, Oct 2021
Great way to see and learn a lot in a short time. Van is comfortable, with red carpet service. Sharky is a great story teller, “quite entertaining” says my husband. For improvement I would ask Sharky to adhere to the speed limit. At one time the speed limit sign said 30 and the speedometer said 48. You had no chance to see what he was pointing out and I was getting nauseous going so fast around the curves. Also, Sharky should avoid his spitting habit while on tours. He did it before getting into the van, out the window at stop signs, disgusting. Great way to see Martha’s Vineyard when it’s your first time and you only have the day!
Response from Host, Oct 2021
Hi Sherry..... you posted on the wrong site... i have no drivers named sharky... and yes, spitting is disgusting...
