The dormant Haleakala Volcano towers thousands of feet in the air. During this exciting excursion, go downhill biking on the slopes of the volcano and enjoy some of the best views of the island. A van drives you up the mountain to your starting point and then you can ride the upper and lower sections at your own pace.

Ripped off

Felt like we were ripped off. The ride was reduced by some 9 miles from a year ago when we made this same ride. We paid more on Viator than from what was listed on Maui Sunriders web page. We were not told of this ride change, which was required by the state, but should have been made aware of this change as we would have not made this purchase knowing that the ride had been shorten.

The incredible view on bike down and fantastic best cappuccino I’ve had at Espresso Mafia stop on way down. Thanks to very informative tour guide on tips on other key cool spots to visit in the area. This is great tour for beginner to leisure bikers. For avid road riders - I would recommend renting an electric pedal assist road bike from the bike shop instead to ride up to 10,000 feet- and back down. That’s my plan next time.

Don’t make the mistake that I did and go to the wrong venue as there are 3 different locations of this bike company. We missed the mountain ride because of my error but the company was most gracious in providing us with an alternative plan. They gave us 2 e-bikes and the use of them for the day. We had a wonderful time navigating the coast line and the bike path. Thank you for the fine customer service

Shopping the markets and town during the ride. The ride was an easy downhill except for one spot. Got tired and grateful for the rest spots to shop and eat something. View was incredible once the fog/cloud cleared. The ride up was also entertaining. Our guide Audrey was engaging as she gave us the history of the Haleakala and travel tidbits of Maui and Lanai. Beautiful scenery, of course. Bikes were a bit funky if you are used to bike riding. Seats were set low so you could sit on seat and touch grounds with both toes. This meant coasting (99% of tour) with both knees bent. Trip up in bus is about 1hr. Trip down on bike about 1hr (excluding stops). Okay experience, but not tops on my list in Maui.
