Beautiful
Lori_H, Mar 2023
Beautiful sunrise on Haleakala with bike ride down the mountain. Eddie made the early morning trip enjoyable with his weird sense of humor and entertaining stories.
One and Done
Leslie_K, Mar 2023
One and done. This excursion was good once. Cory was great - informative and funny. However, we stayed in Kapalua and had to leave our resort at 2:30 to get to the office by 3:30, only to wait around for 1/2 hour before we got on the bus to drive to the top of the volcano. The web site said they would provide gloves and a down vest for everyone and when we asked about it, we were promptly told “we don’t have those”. This was a big factor in choosing this company since it was freezing at the top and my hands were numb by the time the bike ride was over. We also were not informed that we would have to dismount partially down the bike ride, get on the bus, and and then get back on the bikes. This excursion was not worth the hefty price tag. One simple suggestion that would have set a great tone would be to offer a hot cup of coffee while we wait, watch safety videos and ride up.
Fantastic excursion

My 4 teenage daughters be I took the ride. We saw a beautiful sunrise, had a great ride and a fun stop in the cowboy town for pastries and shopping. They loved it. Eddie our shuttle driver told lots of fun Maui stories!
Beautiful but cold sunrise trip
Lori_W, Mar 2023
We were excited for our sunrise trip but oh my it was very early to start. The sunrise was beautiful and I do recommend seeing it but ensure you are better prepared than we were. The bike ride was also super exhilarating once I got past the nerves of coming down this road with all of the curves.
Based on what Viator showed, we expected a backpack, gloves and Columbia Vest to be provided but they were not. My hands were super cold all morning till we did the second part of the bike ride. I recommend you bring gloves if doing this trip. Since we didn’t have a backpack, we left our snacks and drinks behind and after a 2am start to our day it would have been good to have that with us. It would have been good to have a backpack to put layers we wanted to take off once it got warmer too.
Also, the backpack would have been good so you could shop in the cute town we stopped in for breakfast. There were many shops that we skipped since we had no way to carry any purchases.
Bucket List - Must Do!
Frank_W, Mar 2023
This experience was amazing, a bucket list item for me. Rory and Bike Maui was a first class experience from the start to the finish. They are the only bike company that has access to the Haleakala National Park. We had a perfect sunrise and finished with a great ride back to the shop. Elevation drop from 10,000 to sea level!
So different!
Nicole_T, Mar 2023
It rained nearly the whole time and we almost missed the sunrise. Thankfully, we had an experienced and entertaining guide who took great care of us. The whole morning was filled with laughs, oohs and ahhs, and adrenaline from riding down the mountain. We stopped for breakfast at one of the recommended cafes and it was delicious. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!
Awesome experience!

We had a great sunrise tour! Our guide, Marlon, was very informative and kept the ride up the crater entertaining! The weather ended up being beautiful for the sunrise. We got a little rain on the bike ride down, but was still enjoyable. I would recommend this tour to friends!
Beautiful Sunrise!!

Highlight of Maui
Andrew_H, Feb 2023
This was our second trip to Maui and instead of the road to Hannah, which we did last time, we decided to do this. Our guid was great! The bike ride down was amazing. Highly recommend!!!
It was awesome just cold...

Fabulous tour! Cory was wonderful and so knowledgeable! Went into the NP for sunrise and then left the park and bikes down! It was amazing :) very chilly at the top!
Wonderful experience!
Sheri_E, Feb 2023
Our guide was fantastic, funny and knowledgeable! He did a great job providing us with information on how to ride the bikes down the mountain. I was a little nervous, but the ride was easy and so fun! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants a unique experience!
Down pour
Leasa_J, Jan 2023
Torrential rain was so bad that the drivers decided it was too dangerous for us to ride. We drove back to the bottom. The driver, Marlon, was very informative and enjoyable. However, we never got to experience the bike ride or scenery.
Response from Host, Feb 2023
Unfortunately, as much as we'd like to have the power to do so we are unable to control the weather. Predicting the weather can be every bit as difficult, as the 10,000ft mountain makes it's own weather. But we try to give our guests the best opportunity to experience Haleakala. We are sorry that you were unable to see the scenery.
Phenomenal experience!
Jennifer_A, Jan 2023
We did this Haleakala sunrise bike tour with Bike Maui on New Years Eve morning and it was simply incredible! Our party was comprised of. my husband and me and our two young adult kids. Our guide was Marlon and we cannot say enough about him and the entire experience. Marlon was knowledgeable, helpful and very funny. The sunrise atop Haleakala is an almost spiritual experience, complete with a Hawaiian sunrise chant by the drivers. It is cold up there, but the company provides wind breakers and wind pants, as well as the helmets. The bike ride down Haleakala was thrilling with ethereal views. It's not physically demanding as you mostly coast down the mountain for 23 miles. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast at Colleens next to the office where the bikes are returned in Haiku. Mahalo!
chilly but worth it
Natalie_R, Jan 2023
Bike Maui provided windbreakers, fleece vests, backpacks and helmets. However, it was 30 degrees F at the top with wind. It takes almost an hour for the sun to rise and you wait at your vantage spot. Definitely recommend shoes, socks, gloves. If I had a do-over I would wear a knit hat and sweater. The tour guides are awesome. And the bike trip down is great. No need to worry about taking off layers bc it takes the whole ride to thaw out. Fantastic donuts in the "cowboy town" on the way. Sunrise is incredible and tour guides provide some true Hawaiin flare.
Best activity we did in maui
Rosemarie_W, Jan 2023
The ride self guided ride down was the highlight of our 9 day trip! Would highly recommend. The sunrise was an added bonus.
Bucket List- Amazing Adventure!
Erica_M, Jan 2023
Amazing adventure from start to finish. Our self-guided sunrise and bike tour was not only informative but incredibly fun. We learned so much from our guide about the area and riding down on a bike was thrilling. 10/10 would recommend to anyone visiting!
Great Sunrise - Speedy Bike Ride
Wendy_L, Jan 2023
We woke up early and started our way towards Hana to do this tour. The bus ride up is in the dark as you'd expect, up a windy curvy road. We got a perfect sunrise. Heed their warnings...it is cold at the top. They provided heavy duty windbreakers and vests. I didn't take the vest but I should have. It might not be a bad idea to pack a hat and gloves, which is completely counterintuitive when you are traveling to Hawaii.
Seeing the sun rise over the volcano is impressive and worth doing. We were lucky and had a mostly clear morning.
I gave it four stars instead of five only because I wouldn't do the bike ride down again. Or if I did, I might do the guided tour so you are with a group. I had thought it would be a nice ride down where we could stop somewhere for breakfast. It wasn't that way. If you want to just buzz down the hll then this may be perfect for you. The road had a fairly steep downhill grade and a lot of hairpin turns so there's no pedaling for the most part. There are a lot of great views if you want to stop. You do have to be quite careful, especially around the turns because there are oncoming cars. Once the road straightened out a bit, it wasn't as bad.
Adventure!
Candice_S, Jan 2023
I loved the sunrise, the views and biking down. Marlon, the tour operator was nice and informative. Rory, the other tour operator was super nice too, he went out of his way and drove us home instead of us taking a taxi. It was pricy considering there was no pick up or snacks or drinks. But experiencing the sunrise and biking down was worth it. It was a fun adventure coming down. We had to be careful due to the traffic and corners. The views were amazing. We were literally above the clouds. It was cold but they provided extra clothing. The views and weather was different at every level coming down which was fun and beautiful.
Amazing

The sunrise, the tour guide and the 23 mile bike ride. Lots of interesting information learned while driving up to the National park.
