What To Expect

Your Maui complete island helicopter tour begins at Kahului Heliport, where you board a luxurious, air-conditioned helicopter with comfortable leather seats. Your professional tour guide and expert pilot talks to you through your headset, before lifting off and immediately soaring over fields of waving green sugar.

Over the course of this helicopter tour, many of Maui’s most jaw-dropping spectacles emerge in front of the window, from the verdant valleys of the West Maui Mountains to inside Haleakala Crater. Buzz above the Hana coast and the famous Road to Hana, and see many more waterfalls and crystalline pools than you would from the seat of your car.

After cruising above the lunar landscape of Haleakala volcano, your pilot turns the helicopter towards the rugged West Maui Mountains. Hear the geology, history, and lore behind these sacred, forested ridgelines, and emerge at the fabled “Wall of Tears” that drips with dozens of falls.

While flying above the West Maui coast, get aerial views of neighboring Molokai and the legendary, 4,000 ft. sea cliffs, and in winter it’s sometimes even possible to spot Humpback whales from the sky.

Back on land at Kahului Heliport, you can purchase a souvenir a USB containing footage of your flight, complete with the pilot’s expert narration and Hawaiian music in the background.

Viewing Hawaii from above...
Khai_P, Mar 2023
Viewing Hawaii from above offers a different experience...beautiful valleys, waterfalls, cliffs... We were lucky to have a good view of humpbacks. Unfortunately, the route to Haleakala was changed to Molokai due to visibility and weather, otherwise might have given a 5 stars.
What a view!
David_W, Feb 2023
Awesome tour of Moleka’i! Nathan was fantastic and we really enjoyed the tour. Awesome views, and fantastic experience.
The best way to see Maui
Laura_K, Dec 2022
Air Maui was a great tour is the island. You were able to see parts of the island that you would not have been able to by car. It showed the diverse vegetation of the island, which you cannot miss out on!
Alright, alright, alright!
Tom_P, Dec 2022
It was amazing. Highly recommend!! Everything was on time and our pilot, Nathan, was skilled and witty. He sounded and talked like Matthew McConnaughey, even played fortunate son on takeoff. Worth every penny!
Amazing flight
Murray_C, Nov 2022
Adam's flying skills were amazing! The adventure was perfect from start to finish. You can only get all these views of the island from a helicopter
Molokai helicopter tour
Debra_S, Nov 2022
Captain Kirk’s narration was the best! The views were so breathtaking and exciting. I loved being able to have a video memory too. Very kind staff at front desk at Air Maui too!
Magic carpet ride
Liz_W, Oct 2022
Great experience. This is a great way to not only see most of the island in an hour but you get history and other local knowledge from the pilot through the headset while flying. Staff was friendly.
Amazing, Spectacular Helicopter Ride
Victor_C, Oct 2022
Wife and I did this helicopter tour, and even though she is not a big fan of helicopters, she enjoyed this amazing helicopter tour. Our tour was supposed to be the volcano crater, but due to bad weather on that side of the island , we were rerouted to the north. The ride was amazing, beautiful views from above and the pilot gave us a nice history of the places he took us to. The pilot was amazing. Very kind, polite, professional and easy to talk to. He had a great sense of humor. Made us at ease…pointed out interesting spots. Made sure we were comfortable. And most of all, he was playing very great music in our head piece. The ride was pricey but worth every penny. Highly recommend it when in Maui.
Wear Dark Clothes from head to toe and take dramamine
Jessica_P, Sep 2022
So actually slightly disappointed, all of our pictures had reflections, should tell people to wear dark pants and tops and gloves, and also to take dramamine I got super sick, and I am pretty sure that the couple in front of us exceeded weight limit but they did not pay for a " comfort seat" I did not see anyone being weighed and so you took people on honor system where because I was honest we spent an additional 336 dollars...those were negatives on the positive Cameron was very knowledgeable and the views were incredible
So so 60 minute island tour
Anthony_G, Aug 2022
Okay tour, pilot was more taxi driver than tour guide. Didn’t get to see Haleakala because of weather. Molokai was interesting. Sis people on plane. Teenage boy next to me had his knees jammed behind seat. I had to sit sideways, cram my daughter to let him have some leg room. Views were good, but obstructed. Will probably do doors off flight next time
Debra_K, Jul 2022
Helicopter ride was fantastic . Loved the views and our pilot was great . It was well worth an hour tour over the island
Great Tour
Doug_V, Jul 2022
The waterfalls were amazing. The view that you get from the air cannot be matched anywhere. The pilot did a great job as it was quite windy.
Well worth it.
Anne_F, Jul 2022
The whole experience was very memorable. It was very professional. Felt safe the whole time. Great views. Smooth ride. Great information. Friendly staff. Only wish would have been to be able to communicate with the pilot During the flight.
Great experience for the family.
Osvaldo_P, Jul 2022
Captain Kirk was an exceptional pilot. We loved the experience. Explained in detail the Tour. He also new all the passenger’s names. Thank you!
The winner is......Helicopter tour
Michael_F, Jul 2022
When I asked my two kids what was the top experience while visiting Hawaii, they both said "Helicopter Tour". The competing experiences were, snorkeling with the mantas and watching Lava on the Big Island, Surfing Waikiki, and Biking/Hiking Haliakala and some amazing dives on Both Maui and the Big Island.
Will never forget
John_D, May 2022
The staff were excellent and the tour was something we’ll never forget. Captain Kirk’s professionalism and knowledge of the island made the experience exceptional. Highly recommend
Michael_C, May 2022
Being afraid, but. having a calm, experienced, mild mannered pilot like Dylan Dacus to put you at ease. Dylan made us feel very safe and comfortable. His demeanor was calming and relaxing. Spectacular views you will not get to see any other way other than helicopter. Could not figure out how to turn volume down headphones. Was a bit loud for some. Great experience. Highly recommend it.
Clouds won
William_F, Mar 2022
We were very disappointed that we didn't get to take the flight. It was too cloudy and I understand that safety has to come first. Staff was very nice and we got a complete refund in a timely manner.
Must see tour
James_S, Mar 2022
The only way to see the complete island. The ride was smooth, and pilot was informative. Just do it! It is well worth the money.
The fresh rain on malokei...
William_R, Feb 2022
