Over 200 different species of fish inhabit Molokini Crater, and you have the chance to search for them all aboard this Maui snorkeling tour. Inside this ancient volcanic caldera that rises up out of the sea, you might also find manta rays, sea urchins, eels, or even a harmless shark. This tour also stops at a spot called Turtle Town along the Maui coastline, where you have the chance to swim alongside enormous Hawaiian Green sea turtles. Give yourself plenty of time for parking, walking there, etc.
If you want to really enjoy snorkeling, it may be better to be in a smaller group on a smaller boat.

We went on the Molokini Crater and Turtle Town 5 hour trip. We had perfect weather that day, probably the best day they had seen in weeks. It was a bonus to see whales breaching on the way there and back since it was whale season. The captain said the whale watching didn't get any better than what we got to see as a bonus to the snorkeling trip. The water at Molokini was crystal clear, but we only saw a few different types of fish there. Once the kids and hubby got bored of looking at fish, they enjoyed the two slides and the jump-for-joy off the 2nd deck. We then went to turtle town where the current was very strong and was a bit of a workout to swim from the boat to where the turtles were. We only saw one turtle that was hiding down in a hole, so a little disappointing, but that isn't the crews fault as they can't control the wildlife or ocean currents. The Calypso crew and captain were very helpful and efficient. I did not have super high expectations for a boat that fits 150 people, but the crew really did a great job. Overall it was about 2 hours worth of snorkeling, and 3 hours riding around on the boat there and back and watching whales. They had breakfast(muffins, Danishes, fruit), a mid-morning snack(veggies and bread rolls), lunch(pulled pork or turkey sandwich, cole slaw, chips) and alcoholic beverages(mai tais, rum and coke, local beers) on the ride back to dock, and then surprised us with some ice cream bars which the kids loved! The boat was probably the coolest boat option you could book, with the slides and jump deck, and the view from the 3rd deck was pretty awesome. There was a photographer on the boat as well, and we paid ~$100 to get all access for our family of 5's photos. She offers wristbands to wear if you are very interested in her taking your photos and they are great quality for underwater. Thank you Calypso Crew!

Molokini crater is a amazing place to visit. The Calipso boat is the best snorkeling and whale watching boat I have ever been on. The design of the boat is fantastic. The back of the boat is all stairs to enter and exit the water. Best design ever. The glass bottom is a nice addition. The upper decks offer plenty of room and 360 degree views. The Captain and crew are 5 star. They are there to make your experience the best possible and they achieve that. Food and service was top notch. My wife and I took 2 excursion on the Calipso and would book again and recommend it to everyone. My wife is in a wheelchair and the boat was very comfortable for her needs. Thank you for the great whale sighting, great snorkeling at Molokini crater, saw 2 turtles up close at Turtle Town, and for a great time and memories on a fantastic boat. Best boat in any harbor hands down. Loved it ❤️
