What To Expect

Make your way to a central location in Mexico City, close to metro lines, trolley, and bus stations, and meet your food-loving local guide.

You’ll get an insider perspective on Mexico City cuisine as you make your way to a series of evening eateries, but start by kicking off the night at the first mezcal bar in Mexico City. The bar’s resident mezcal master will walk you through the tastes of traditional mezcal, exploring sweet, smoky, floral, and herbal flavors of the pre-Hispanic drink.

When you’re ready for tacos, try what might be Mexico City’s best al pastor variety, using spit-roasted meat that adapts Middle Eastern techniques to local ingredients and flavors.

At the next taqueria, get a contemporary, creative take on tacos, then visit a third taqueria for tacos hot from the griddle. The last taqueria stop of the evening is for Norteño-style tacos, with culinary influences from the regions of northern Mexico.

Your evening of mezcal and tacos concludes at the final taqueria, in the bustling Cuauhtemoc neighborhood.

Both guys the guide and the driver were very nice and informative! He took us to the taco spots that were popular and had history. Also Queso our guide was informative and willing to answer any questions we had. And at the end we took a picture with the taco champion belt which was fun🤗

We had a great and very delicious evening with Cheese on the Taco and Mezcal tour in Mexico City. Our guide was knowledgeable and personable and the tacos were just amazing. Cheese took us to places I never would have knonw to visit on my own. I even enjoyed the Mezcal tasting! Cheese knew all about the neighborhoods, the taquerias and a lot about Mezcal. I would do this tour again in a heartbeat!!

Fun trip. Took our 2 and 6 yo grands along with their parents and a friend, age 73. Our guide was fantastic with everyone, but particularly with the kids. her background on the taquerias and their differences and history was fascinating, food was terrific and interesting. All in all well worth it.

This was a fun way to start our vacation in Mexico City. Our tour guide was excellent. Sorry, we don't remember her name, but she is very knowledgeable with a great personality. Blame the Mezcal. The variety of taco experiences was an excellent introduction to Mexican food and the various styles. All were great, and the chefs at each clearly took pride in their products.

This was a fabulous evening. Rosa, our guide, grew up in the area, and is absolutely an expert on the local food and mezcal scene. She delighted in telling stories of the history of the areas we visited and the establishments. We went to one restaurant that had been in business for over 80 yrs and two that had been open for over 60 yrs. If you're thinking "tacos are tacos", join Rosa for a tour. Ever spot was unique in the style of food. And everything was wondeful. Our guide new the food. She knew the neighborhoods. She knew the vendors. She got us outside of the tourist area, to where the locals go, and it was an absolute blast. She delighted in sharing stories and backgrounds on all we were seeing and eating. And... We loved meeting new friends, traveling from all over the world. Sharing our own backgrounds, discovering together.... made it all the better.

Delicious Taco Tour with a Fun and Passionate Guide in Mexico City

Had a wonderful taco tour of Mexico City with Rodrigo. We did the tour on our first night in town, which was a great idea! We got to explore 3/4 neighborhoods and see some of the city's landmarks, all while enjoying some incredible tacos. We went back to two of the spots later in the trip, and Rodrigo provided a list of additional options in each neighborhood that we also utilized and enjoyed. Rodrigo was fun and passionate, and provided a lot of food knowledge and Mexico city history, and was very eager to make recommendations and discuss the rest of our trip to help us plan better once we understood the neighborhoods of Mexico City more. Would highly recommend, food was incredible and a memorable first night in town. Come on an empty stomach, 8 tacos on the tour and ends with some lights out al pastor tacos that I am still thinking about. Great value, great time and the taco knowledge we acquired guided the rest of our trip. We even skipped some of our higher-end reservations to explore more street tacos and neighborhood spots.

This is a delicious and informative experience. Fred was the perfect tour guide for our crew. We thoroughly enjoyed unique Tacos from four excellent taqueria that all had a distinguishing quality that Fred explained in detail. The Mexcal tasting was also terrific; we loved the experience so much we bought an extra tasting of the "snake infused" Mexcal. We're not a group that would normally pay for a tour. But all agreed this tour was very valuable; it opened up a part of Mexico City that we would have not likely found on our own.

Fun and Flavorful Tour of Mexico City Taquerias

This was such a fun and engaging tour by Sabores Mexico. My guide, Rodrigo, was a great host and tour guide, telling me the history of the different varieties of tacos as well as providing me restaurant and bar recommendations for the remainder of my trip to CDMX. I would recommend this tour to anyone; you not only get to learn the history behind each regional taco speciality in Mexico, but you get to eat many as tacos as you can! These pair nicely with the mezcal. How can you top that? If you like food, especially if you enjoy learning the history of a country's cuisine, this tour is for you. We went to around 6 different taquerias, trying the house special at each. All the local places we went were very welcoming, with excellent food. Although my personal favorite was la gaonera, there was not a taco I disliked the whole evening. This tour is definitely worth the price! When I return to Mexico City, I would not hesitate to book another tour with Sabores Mexico. Thanks to Rodrigo for sharing his passion for food and his country with me. Hasta la proxima.

Discovering Tacos

We loved all the taco spots! Grace was very knowledgeable and pleasant. She made it fun for us; we learned a lot about tacos and the different regions of Mexico having different tacos! We had no idea how diverse the cuisine of Mexico is. Grace even went out of the way to fulfill a request we had for a specific type of taco. The tour takes longer than they say it does because the pace depends on you and the traffic is Mexico City can be quite horrible at that time of the evening. Just don't plan anything else after. It is a great evening with plenty of food and drinks. We highly recommend this tour!

Great time exploring some of the more unknown spots in CDMX. If you are a tourist, I doubt you would find these places on your own! Super authentic family restaurants/hole in the wall spots for great tacos. Mezcal bar was also cool.
