Good but Room for Improvement

The tour was a long day. There were 4 English speaking and 2 Spanish speaking members of the tour, so our guide, Ines, double explained. I booked this particular tour, as it did not have the tequila tasting in its title-neither of us in my party drink alcoholic beverages. The gift shop stop included a pulque, mezcal and tequila tasting. Also, too much time was spent in the gift shop prior to entering the temple site (an hour plus). It was disappointing not being able to climb the stairs in front of the temples. If I had been more adventurous about driving in Mexico, I believe I would have preferred exploring on my own. Lunch was really good; food was delicious, service was great, and prices reasonable, given the restaurant catered to tourists visiting Teotihuacan. When we got to the Shrine of Guadalupe, Ines indicated it was the last stop. When I asked about Tlatelolco, she acted like she had forgotten about it, but agreed we would go there, which amounted to a 5 min overview on the side of the road overlooking the site, as it was past closing time. I would have much preferred walking through this cultural site to the time spent in the gift shop. As the day wore on and Ines appeared to be feeling more rushed, her English became less comprehensible (still got the gist), however, being able to understand Spanish (even though I do not speak it well) helped fill in any gaps. The mini coach interior was much older than other tour coaches I saw that day. I had initially taken a seat that did not feel anchored and rocked. Trip was more comfortable after the change. I was hoping for more from the experience. If pre-Colombian art and archaeology excite you, don’t miss the Museo Nacional de Antropologia and the Templo Mayor (Tenochtitlan); my traveling companion and I liked both more.

We had a great day during this tour. From pick-up to drop-off, Francisco (driver) and Rafael (tour guide) were fantastic. We really enjoyed visiting Teotihuacan and Shire of Guadalupe. Both places were very good! I wish we did explore more of Tlatelolco. We were only able to take pictures from outside. I also wonder why food was not included, since this was an all day tour. Prince for the food was okay though. I highly recommend this tour.

Taking the Most Amazing Toir

This tour was a memorable and wonderful experience. Our driver Francisco was a very safe and good driver. Our tour guide Rafael was charming and told really great stories about history and places of interest as we drove from Mexico City to Teotihuacan. Our first stop at the Tlatelolco was so informative and Rafael explained the significance of the site. We then continued our way to Teotihuacan enjoying the vastness of the outer cut limits. The ride was a little bumpy at times, but nothing too crazy. The demonstration about the onyx and mezcal were both really interesting. The gift shop was amazing with so many beautifully made items. I especially loved the dog we met there’s we referred to them as Pyramid dogs. The one we saw was so sweet. The pyramids of the Sun and Moon, Temple of Quetzalcoatl, and the Avenue of the Dead were remarkable. Rafael really knew his history and told us so many amazing facts. His book of images and maps really helped us visualize what the area might have been like centuries ago. Next we went to have lunch at the wonderful Restaurante El Jaguar. There was a delicious buffet and amazing performers. The property was really beautiful and us a recreation of the Aztec ōllamalitzli court with bleachers. Our final stop was the Basilica de Guadalupe. The sheer beauty of this compound is beyond words. Nestled on the property were several shrines and churches. Each were beautiful in their own way. There was a long stairway that was a challenge to climb. Once we made it to the top, we were blessed with the most amazing views of Mexico City. This tour was so good and I really enjoyed the experience. I would highly recommend this tour. Such a memorable experience for me.

The pickup from our hotel was on time - small group tour maximum 16 people in the comfortable minibus. Our tour guide was excellent, very knowledge and passionate about her tour. The tour covered all the highlights and was very informative. Not rushed ! Lunch was delicious ( not included) and had good vegetarian options. Definitely worth the price and would highly recommend .

Trip was great. Time was appropriate. Our tour guide was Angela was excellent. She explained the history and background for each of our stops. She told the history of locations while we were driving. She was attentive and willing to answer individual questions without rushing. She gave explanations in English and Spanish and made sure everyone understand what she said in their language before she proceeded.

We liked the itinerary, the price and the driver was also good. Ways to improve the tour: 1. We would have appreciated even 10 minutes more at the Basilica. There literally wasn't time to even stop and say a quick prayer or light a candle. 2. Ines did check in with us to make sure we understood and to ask if we had questions. She also was good about getting everyone on the bus on time. However, most of the time she sounded like she was reciting something she memorized, and had some English errors that could be easily corrected if another guide went over it with her (ie: "remember" instead of "remind") 3. I was disappointed that in Teotihuacan ines didn't accompany us beyond the main plaza. I realize her knee was hurt but all the other groups of our size I saw the guide accompanied their guests to the house with the murals, the jaguar mural and temple of the sun. 4. It would be nice if when the group stopped at Tlaltelolco and the Basilica that she move the group to a shady spot.

I think these are all important and worth while sites to visit - we just had an average guide. She seemed to have injured her leg though and had trouble walking - so once we got to Teotihuacán she gave us some info and then said okay meet back here in a hour. We walked around by ourselves and felt there were a few more areas she could have given us information on - but bailed because she couldn’t be bothered or was unable too. I think with a guide who was a little more eager this tour would have been better. But regardless, worth doing as you see everything and what she did tell us was good - just needed more!

Touristy trap

We regret that we didn't see the Teotihuacán on our own, as Uber is very inexpensive in Mexico City. 1) Our van ride was not amazing. We were sitting in the back, and there was no window in the back. 2) The van stopped for gas and coffee. We wasted a lot of time at the gas station waiting for people to get coffee. 3) Then, the tour spent a lot of time at the gift shop (where we also had tequila tasting). We were given a lot of time to shop and just wasted time. We didn't come to shop but to enjoy the Teotihuacan. 4) We didn't have enough time to enjoy the Teotihuacan, the main attraction of the tour. We wanted to walk around everywhere, but had only an hour. Overall, the tour should dedicate more time to the Teotihuacan, instead of shopping.

The temples really should be at the top of the to do list for where to visit in Mexico

Amazing day. The size of the temples were a shock. Photos don’t show how large they really are. We never realised how many other ruins were there on the site. The tour guide Marcos really made the day with his outstanding knowledge and friendliness. Thanks also to the driver Reuben.

Memorable Monday at Teotihuacán

When planning my trip to Mexico City, visiting Teotihuacán was on top of my head and Viator’s tour checked all the boxes and more. Angela was an incredible guide who was very knowledgeable in the rich history of Mexico City, particularly pre-Columbian times. It was a gorgeous day at the pyramids and I had no problems with the amount of time spent and being able to take plenty of quality pictures and videos for memorabilia. Highly recommend Angela and this tour for anyone trying to explore and learn more about this incredible place!

The sites were amazing. The guide was poor and provided little or no valuable insights. We switched to our phones to learn more. At the pyramids we were provided no guided tour and joined other groups to explore the site. Perhaps the low price of the trip should have been an indicator of the poor quality tour we received?
