What To Expect

Get on one of the open-air double-decker buses for a hop-on hop-off tour of Milan. There are three bus routes to choose from, with more than 30 combined stops between them, so you can find a stop close to where you are and where you want to go.

The route for Line A, the red line, includes the Milan Duomo (Cathedral), the 14th-century Castello Sforzesco and the renowned La Scala opera house, one of the most famous theaters in the world. The entire loop of Line A takes 90 minutes.

The route for Line B, the blue line, includes the skyscrapers of Palazzo Lombardia, the Porta Venezia (one of the historic city gates) and the Santa Maria delle Grazie church, in which Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” fresco can be seen.

The route for Line C, the green line, includes the massive San Siro football (soccer) stadium, the Monumental Cemetery and a stop near the shopping quarter around Via Montenapoleone.

With your hop-on hop-off ticket good for either 24 or 48 hours (you choose the option), explore Milan at your own pace, getting off the bus at any stop you like to see an attraction or simply do some shopping. What’s more, the three routes mentioned are connected, so it’s no trouble at all to switch from one to the other in order to cover more ground in the whole city of Milan.

Traveler Tips

It is a very convenient and not expensive way to enter places that would be normally difficult to find without help.
Pick up points easily accessible, schedule of trips are on time.
Poor signage, very limited schedules; every hour - just in the morning or just in in the afternoon.

Milan on and off bus fiasco
Randall_H, Sep 2023
Trip was ok, would have been more helpful to have better signage for the stops. Better organization for on and off boarding the buses. People were pushing and shoving in line tempers were getting heated while trying to board the different bus lines.
Great

Amazing as always! The bus guy was so nice with me and I feel they really cared about people. Great experience and explanation of the city
Milan: an architectural marvel
Patricia_A, Sep 2023
Although our train was delayed and therefore missed a lot of our bus tour, the little we did see we loved! Milan is a bustling city with awe inspiring architecture and delicious food. Highly recommend this tour.
Historic Milan

Lucia was so knowledgeable and passionate about the topics. It was really enjoyable!! I loved the earpieces so you could wander and still hear.
Nice relaxing and informative
Susan_A, Sep 2023
Note that you should take the free headphones to plug in and hear the tour. They were not pointed out to us, and are helpful to have. Also watch for tree branches if sitting on the curb side of the upper deck.
Great Experience

Excellent! Had a wonderful experience and it was so easy and fun. Thank you for having us. Tour operators can do better by responding to messages.
Just ok.
Geraldine_R, Sep 2023
We bought the 1 day pass. Not really sure if I would recommend or not. It was ok but just ok. €24 each for 1 day was probably not worth it. Perhaps if we had got 2 day one for a few more euro it would have been better but we had a day trip planned for next day so we knew we wouldn't use it. We have used hop on hop off busses in other places and they were cheaper and seemed to rún better. It may also have been that we got it for a Sunday and service times may have been reduced. There also seemed to be a fair bit of waiting around and when one bus pulled up lots of people were ready to get on but driver just said they were going on lunch break. Obviously I understand they need breaks but I would have assumed there would have been cover but it didn't appear so. We also only got to go on 2 of the 3 or 4 different bus lines we could have cos of the timing. Overall it was just ok. Bus was comfy etc and driver and guide very polite but would i recommend it? Probably not. Definitely not just the 1 day one anyway and not for a Sunday.
Not the service expected from this company
Ian_A, Sep 2023
What a terrible service. Having enjoyed many other City Sightseeing tours in other Italian cities, we had no hesitation in booking one in Milan. Unfortunately a combination of terrible, disinterested and quite frankly bored staff together with a number of different buses that had no working information points to plug your headphones into, led us to be driven around the city clueless as to the many sights we should have been looking out for. We left feeling very much let down.
Duomo Cathedral
Carla_T, Aug 2023
A Short trip and nothing to see. The blue line was only 50 minutes. The blue line didn't have any attractions except the Duomo Cathedral. The red line didn't start until 2pm. Which I had to leave by then to go to the airport.
Should be combined to two lines.
Julie_C, Aug 2023
Instruction indicate you must choose one of the four routes. So, only a small area of the city is toured. Only One route goes to the train station and and takes passengers to the Duomo where the selection is made. Hint, ride to the Duomo then select red line until you need to return to the station! The city seems walkable but in the summer heat- not so much.
Milan sightseeing bus was awesome!!
Ken_T, Aug 2023
The city sightseeing bus was a awesome way to see all that Milan has to offer. The times are clearly posted on the street signs where you get off the bus or you can track the next bus on your phone and this gives you time to explore various neighborhoods. I did so much in two days and rode all four lines. I really enjoyed every moment.
Relaxing and informative
Yvonne_N, Aug 2023
This was a great way to see the area and get your bearings of what you wanted to see later in the day.
Ok tour
Luc_S, Aug 2023
Good way to get a rapid tour of the city. Certain route are sometimes tough to catch and full of people. Two line are easy to get and two are tougher.
Do not recommend
Bernadine_S, Aug 2023
we have used Viator in many cities but would not recommend it in Milan. The markings at the train station were not visible and it was difficult to determine where to board. A call to the company did not provide much assistance.
memorising
Anna_A, Jul 2023
the Duomo beautiful ....the La Scala very impressive....the city of Milan is very different to Rome not so busy....
the service i got via watsapp was good al the rest was ofvery low level and reminded me of bad experinces in india
oren_m, Jul 2023
trip on 14/7/23 booking via the cpomputer was very dificult and i found the information very lacking. i got lots of help via watsapp with boot + person was very helpfull the price was very high and completly not worth the experience i thought i was buying an historical tour there were a few companies operating from the domo it wasnt clear which is our company. we got on the bus which had a broken windows, after 10 min' we were moved to another bus without any explinations. the explenatiopns in english were to fast and not clear enough. only after w while on the 'new' bus did we understand that we are not on the historical trip. we got of the bus at the domo and complained that we were on nthe wrong tour. nobody rememberd that we were moved to the bus without any explination. anyway we were told that we have a 24 hr ticet in that time we can joun al the different tours of the city - including the historical one/ THATS WHEN I FELT LIKE A REAL FOOL PAYING SO MUCH MONEY FOR SOMETHING SO DIFFERENT FROM WHAT I EXPECTED!!! needless to say that we didnt go on any other bus tour with the tickets we bought!!
Ok, but not great.
Riikka_S, Jul 2023
Busses came regularly, so no long waits. The explanations were quite brief & same music was repeated toi many times. The map was not available online.
Ok to get around.
Paul_M, Jul 2023
It’s ok as far as hop on hop off buses go, but the weather was hot, the city crowded and there seemed to be of construction. But there are three routes which helps to get around the city if you get a multi day pass. The commentary is bland and often the announcement of approaching stops non-existent.
Great experience
Cynthia_O, Jul 2023
I’ve done Hop On Hop Off in 8 overseas countries. I absolutely love them. Once I got the hang of the schedule, I was able to go everywhere in Milan. I love being able to use it for more than one day.
