Traveler Tips

July is not the time of year for this tour, however, because of the heat.
This tour is worth it and a great way to go to the rooftop!
I thought 90 minutes was just about right for a tour of the inside and outside of the Duomo.

Good your disappointing sound
Bruce_A, Sep 2023
Good tour. Excellent guide, when you could hear her. Terrible sound system. Actually ruined the whole experience. They need to make fixing the sound system a priority or what’s the point of a tour if you can’t hear what’s being said
Brilliant , amazing 🤩 highly recommend

Great experience, roof access not for mobility impaired individuals
John_S, Sep 2023
Beautiful duomo with an incredible story. Had a wonderful English speaking tour guide who was patient, well informed, and interesting. Downside was too large a group(19) and the headsets broke up quite often leaving you short of the whole story. Elevator to the roof limited to 6 people crammed in a small box and only goes up. Way too many stairs for the faint of heart and if there are any mobility issues it can be problematic. We had one individual who was challenged but we were able to convince (well, plead actually). to allow them to take the elevator down.
Disappointing tour

The duomo was beautiful, but we could hardly anything because of the defective radios… I even exchanged mine with the tour guide, and it still did not work. The tour was cut in and out the entire two hours. So I missed most of the history and the story. There were also way too many people on the tour. I will not do this again. The tour guide was very nice, however, we just could not hear anything he was saying
Learning more about the Duomo.
Fern_P, Sep 2023
Duomo is a massive cathedral with 52 Sequoia sized pillars inside. It was interesting to learn a little more about the cathedral and so a tour guide is helpful. Also the viewing the rooftop was worth the added expense and time. Our guide was very knowledgeable and she did not rush us through.
Great experience touring the Duomo

The guide was very informative and the tour was great. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. Great experience.
Just ok

While it was nice to skip the line upon entry as well as fast track to the elevator to the upper terraces, the tour narration was largely difficult to understand. There were a few tidbits of information we were able to glean from the vast interior lectures, but word usage and heavy accent made the delivered content largely difficult to understand. It became even more difficult outside on the upper terraces. The tour guide did a great job with collecting the group and keeping everyone together. Did not understand why some participants received a whisper listening device directly, and didn’t have to deposit a piece of identification with a stranger in an office, while some did.
Should try this out !

The tour meeting instructions were clear and we were able to meet the guide The tour started on time and the guide was informative / enthusiastic She was able to provide us information and took us to the rooftop and the underground of the church
Average - wouldn’t do again or recommend
Lindsey_B, Sep 2023
This tour was ok but fairly lacking in historical context and a disjointed narrative. Most people were asking when we ended … never a great sign. What was appalling was a demand not just to sight my passport for ID purposes but to retain it for the duration of the tour - I refused ( in NZ you are advised at all costs not to hand over your passport in an insecure location let alone as security for a cheap audio guide). When I refused the guide said there was nothing she could do she’s just the guide and if I didn’t leave the passport I couldn’t go… this is plainly ridiculous and having not had this experience at higher quality experiences including La Sagradia and the last Supper - it’s a no. I was also one of only a few people asked - beware these were all Viator tour purchasers. Luckily a US lady provided her I’d card… the rest of the tour felt glum though, guide going through motions and a fairly inaccurate or vague recount of some historical info…
Just okay

The guide and the ticketing were fine. The quality of the sound, and the whispers was very poor and hard to understand and grating to our ears. We left today tour partway through and went to the roof and that was fine.
Duomo - Must See While in Milan
Jim_C, Sep 2023
Our guide Iris did a great job. The Duomo is a must see but also getting to see the archeological site under it and the rooftop were excellent too. Getting information while touring is recommended since there is so much to see. We did have a little difficulty getting back into Duomo after tour but sorted out with guard so I could go light candle.

Every part of the tour was incredibly beautiful and interesting. We loved it all from the stained glass windows to the statues and stonework. The rooftop was such a unique experience. So much history, like the spot where St Ambrose baptized St Augustine. The statue of St Bartholomew was very moving. Every corner had another discovery The tour guide was very knowledgeable and interesting
We had a great showing
Jairo_R, Sep 2023
It was great and the guide knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The Duomo and rooftops was a once in a lifetime experience .
Sweety_M, Sep 2023
We booked this tour for 4 of us in September . We were not given headsets as we did not have physical copy of our passport and other people in our tour were given without any ID . What a waste of money ! Would not recommend it to anybody !
A worthwile visit.

I would give it between a 3 and a 4!! Tour guide was very knowledgeable and the cathederal itself was very impressive. About 1hr 30 mins in total. We also got to see the downstairs baptisimal font which was interesting. We also got the tour from the rooptops and the views were lovely. However, what wasn't made clear while there is a lift up to the top it's not all the way up. if you wanted to go to very top there are a good few more steps which were quite small and narrow. Also to get back down there is no lift down! You have to walk all the way down narrow winding steps to get back to Cathedral. So it wouldn't really be adviseable for anyone who has any mobility issues. However my last issue has nothing to do with Viator. To go to use the bathroom will cost you €2!! Yes €2. Unreal and terrible. Queues of people waiting to go in and all having to had over €2! If you are looking to do this tour i would recommend it but obviously check for steps etc. And go to bathroom before you get there!! 😬
Meh. It’s OK
Leslie_C, Sep 2023
Our guide (older gentleman maybe 60-65) was quite knowledgeable about the duomo. The biggest issue was his English was not that great. And he honestly didn’t stop talking the entire tour. If you had a question, forget it. He went on WAY too much about the most minute details. I was really just looking for a highlights tour. We also were jet lagged and hungry which probably didn’t help my mood. But after an hour I was wishing it was over
Good for relax people!
Daniela_L, Sep 2023
Love the city, the guide was nice, I don’t recommend if you just arrived, because of the jet leg, it is hard to keep up.
Romeo_o, Sep 2023
Beautiful, Very good tour guide, Speak English well, Has a lot of important information. I got a lot of experience. Thank you
Impressive cathedral, must have in Milan
Zalina_G, Sep 2023
Good tour, we enjoyed it very much although sometimes had trouble understanding our guide. That being said, she was good with answering the questions. The line was not long so not sure if skip-the-line option was worth it
