Your beer and gastronomic tour begins in the evening at Munich Central Station, where you’ll meet your friendly guide and set off to explore the city’s bustling nightlife and learn the time-honored techniques of German brewing.

Before heading to the first tasting venue, you’ll take an exclusive private tour through the Beer and Oktoberfest Museum in one of Munich's most historic buildings (standing since 1347). Beer is arguably the cultural symbol of Germany—a symbol that has been well protected throughout history, from the ancient tribal Hausfrauen brew-women to the revered Reinheitsgebot (Purity Law) of 1516. Great beer tour! We loved the beer museum and it taught us all about beer history and brewing methods. We then went to the famous Hofbrau Haus and next to a great restaurant for a great German dinner. Would do again!

A winter's night for Bavarian beer and food

A must do in Munich! A great tour and the guide was fabulous and knowledgeable. He took us to beer halls that we would not have discovered by ourselves. Even though it was winter, my family and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour along with visiting the old town at night. I am not a big beer drinker but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The beer and food on the tour was fabulous! Highly recommend.

Not As Advertised

The tour was only 2.5 hours instead of 3.5, and that extra hour could have been spent longer in the museum as we were very quickly rushed through and didn’t get to see very much at all. It could have also been spent actually going into or even having a stein (as shown in the photos) of beer at the Hofbrauhaus. We simply walked by it and then walked 10 minutes to a completely deserted restaurant to eat. The tour does not end at the Hofbrauhaus, it felt more like an afterthought.

We did think our tour guide Berah was nice and funny but other than that we were disappointed because we expected more from the Viator summary and from YouTube vloggers from the past. At the start of the tour we got that great bottle of beer that we took along with us even on the Underground train. Our beer and pretzel at the beer museum was great and then to our surprise we skipped the HofBrau Haus. As touristy and perhaps less-than-gourmet offerings at the big HofBrau Haus, we were REALLY disappointed to miss this iconic Landmark. The smaller hofbrau haus we landed in was just ok, very quiet and anti-climactic.

Jesse, thank you for your feedback. We apologize that the video back then from Viator led to some expectations of the tour, but this video has been a little outdated and since then been taken down already, to not spread too much confusion on the tour, as there is no more options to nowadays reserve in the Hofbräuhaus. The tour very much shows how locals in Munich go along their beer & food culture, and the Hofbräuhaus is not really part of it. Thanks for your understanding.

Thank you for your feedback. In our guides defence : He never indicated to use the restrooms, so obviously the guide continued the tour at that point at it will be at your own risk if you wish to stay back and use a restroom. If you inform our guide prior, we of course will be aware of this, but if you choose to steal yourself away for a restroom break, it is hard to point fingers at us if you are left behind on the tour, I am very sorry.

If you expected a pub crawl and massive amounts of beer, this is not the tour for you, as we wish to educate all guests on the variety of food and beer that Bavaria calls home, so there is lots of differnt thihngs to try, not a massive amount of one single "item". If you mind sharing with us via email, this is much appreciated, as we wish to constanlty improve our services if something not satisfies you.

Sorry if this felt like it was lacking for the tour.

Lots more food and beer than I expected! Dani what is a fabulous experience leader! I guess I expected we would go in and have a beer at the Hofbrau House, but the tour ended there. I just wanted to look around, but couldn’t possibly drink any more beer.

Dani our guide was wonderful, and the tour and food - WOW! But please give better directions (and include the name of Radius Tours!) in the information. We stumbled around in the rain for 15 minutes trying to find the tour because the directions were SO VAGUE. Others expressed the same frustration. Other than that, we were 100% happy 😀

An Okay Beer Tour

My husband & I went on this tour during our stay in Munich. While we had a great time learning about the history of beer & it’s part in German culture, I think the description of the tour is a bit misleading. You really only try 3 SMALL beers, you walk inside hofbrauhaus for maybe 1 minute & the only snacks we got were a pretzel. You do get dinner & a beer at the end but based on the description I feel like they have left something to the imagination. The Oktoberfest museum also isn’t very impressive. But if you are not a big beer drinking & want to go more for the history then I would recommend it.

Th e best part was Our guide Cloe, she was very friendly, knowledgeable and fun. The tour felt rush, specially at the Museum, where we were push at the very end of the restaurant to have part of our group standing up. We had to jug our beers because they need the tables for another group. The museum visit was very very short with a little information. The dinner WAS NOT at the famous Hofbräuhaus as advertised in the video and the food provided although it was plenty has nothing to do with the pictures and video. We did not have a bad time, we were expecting more.

3/7/2023- Had the most fun beer and food tour with Steve! The evening was full of 5 tasty beers, pretzel, charcuterie board and dinner samplings. The Octoberfest museum was brought to life with Steve’s wonderful sense of humor! Highly recommend and a tour not to miss!
