What To Expect

New York City’s Central Park spans 843 acres (341 hectares) of lovely gardens, lakes, bridges, and unique monuments. To explore this iconic oasis, meet your friendly local guide a few blocks south from the park, where you’re fitted for a hybrid bike and receive a helmet and free park map. Choose a morning or afternoon departure for the tour. 

Enjoy an easy ride along the park’s many bike-friendly paths and trails as you peddle by landmarks like Sheep Meadow and the Jackie Onassis Reservoir. Your guide narrates the tour through a speaker so everyone can hear historical info and fun facts about passing attractions. I paid a separate higher price for a small group experience. I guess we did not have the same definition of small group. We were the largest group that left at that time. Also as my husband was the tallest person in the group, he was asked to anchor. The guide was leading ahead and my husband was left to handle the person who could not handle the hill on the bike ride. That was not his responsibility. I understand that the guide was stuck, but then if you have a large group (AND WE PAID FOR A SMALL GROUP EXPERIENCE) add a helper at the end. Not a difficult ride, but not everyone has the same fitness level. Again, the guide was ahead when a member of the group fell of his bike and participant had to help the rider. Thank goodness the park is beautiful.
Great bike ride in Central Park

Paul gave us a really great bike tour of Central Park. He was very knowledgeable about the park and the history. The bikes are well maintained and we enjoyed using the e-bike. We saw all the hi lights of the park and would recommend the tour. He even took group pictures along the way and shared them with us.

John did a great job showing and telling us about Central Park. It was easy to follow his lead on the bike and I appreciated that we were able to get off the bike and spend a little time walking.

We couldn’t find where we were to join our small group, so we joined another which wasn’t it. The guide Dan was super. But the info to where was not to be found! That part is very bad!

Hello Paul, I am so sorry you had trouble finding our start location. This tour departs from Unlimited Biking at 56 W 56th street. This location is available on the website and in your confirmation email, but I do understand there is a lot of information in that confirmation and Manhattan is not the easiest city to navigate. I am glad you were still able to enjoy your tour with Dan and hope we can ride with you again in the future!

We were guided around the park by Alex, who was very friendly, extremely knowledgeable. The tour was carried out at a good pace, with several stops to take in the sights. Bikes were good. Staff at the shop were very efficient, under a lot of pressure with the volume of people coming in/out in the extreme heat.

Guide was friendly, but information regarding the park was quite limited. Very basic. Did not stop to see many spots. I have gone in bike tours with headsets where the leader is storytelling the entire time. Multiple people had bike issues and towards the end the guide gave us directions to head back while she stayed with the disabled bike. The directions were confusing. Not a great experience.

Tour was very good. Tour guide was upbeat and knowledgeable. Pace/format was excellent. Various ages and abilities were part of the group and pace kept steady and suited for all riders. Once heads up is that in addition to the viator cost, the bicycle company will push an added cost for insurance. They do explain that if you have a flat tire, broken chain, any damage etc, you are liable whether it is tied to a maintenance issue or not. The insurance will only cover up to $500 also. Just be prepared for paying additional fee above the initial cost. This extra (optional) fee was not explicitly disclosed in the initial booking with viator.
