Tissue Ito was such a nice and informative guide. She kept the tour moving, provided a lot of education, and made the bus trip go by quickly. Very well done. The stops were all very beautiful and the lunch was great.
Excellent guides make great tours
James_H, Aug 2023
The Nikko tour given by Joe was one of the best during my one week stay in Tokyo. The guidance and attention to the group made it such a great tour. The driver was excellent too getting us from Point A to Point B timely and safely. I would recommend this tour to everyone who wants to enjoy the country side of Japan learn about its history.
Very good

The tour was really nice! The explanations that the guide gave us were really interesting! You also have some free time which is good!
Very difficult to fully enjoy the tour.
Ruriko_Y, Aug 2023
Joe was very nice. But people behind of our seats were so rude! Even though they were loud they said we were too loud. Then they stepped my hair behind of my arm rest of the seat. Also I would recommend they should choose different videos during ride. One animation was very annoying.
Missed tour due to unhelpful tour operator
Anupama_P, Aug 2023
This is a negative review for JTB Sunrise Tours of Tokyo. We missed the tour by a couple of minutes and the staff was quite unhelpful. We were just a couple of minutes away from the start point. I sent a message on the given number to say we would be just reaching. The tour operator did not even bother to call and check where we were. What is the point of giving a phone number? When we reached, we asked if we could catch up with the tour. They said we could do so at Nikko by reaching on our own, but refused to share the number of the guide. How were we to find the bus? We couldn't take the risk of travelling 2 hours to the location without a confirmed way of joining the tour. Then they told us to get rescheduling through Viator which we did by calling up Viator customer care. But our rescheduling request was rejected by the tour operator inspite of the fact that there were seats available on 4th August. (I checked on Viator site) Very bad customer service on their part. We've booked other tours through Viator over the years, but this is the first time we had such a bad experience. Tickets for a group of 3 down the drain for us.
Not recommend Nikko

Not recommend for these places all we spend is sitting on bus, there is no interesting place for this tour. Of course I like the tour guide but just not like your place.
Ok

Good trip. I would not recommend to get the lunch option. Food was bad. Guid spoke English but with a hard accent. For me water fall was best part.
Relaxing day to Nikko
Gayle_V, Jul 2023
We had a wonderful day. Joe was our guide and between him and the driver, they made the day very enjoyable. It was good to get out of the city and see the countryside. The Japanese meal was good to try. There were plenty of opportunities to go shopping to buy souvenirs. The waterfall was beautiful.
Great family-friendly tour

This was our second trip with our guide, Joe. He is the BEST guide. He’s so funny and energetic. The tour was perfectly paced, and we had plenty of time to take in the beautiful sites as well as shop and relax. I highly recommend this type of tour for families because it gives everyone a chance to rest on the bus. We went with two elderly relatives and two small children.

Average tour, the ride is very long. You will see nikko temble wich was rebilt so everything is new. Some of it was close. Not to much explonation from tour gide, you will walk there by yourself for a hour. The lake and waterfall is nice. 80% of a tour is bus riding...

Nice area
Ken_M, Jun 2023
The Lake and Falls were beautiful, just wish we could find a way to get closer or perhaps on the lake. A lot of driving for very little time at lake or falls. Lunch was excellent and served efficiently. Viator or tour operator (Sunshine) needs to immediately institute a policy regarding illness. The last thing you want to do is spend hours on a bus with folks that are obviously very, very sick. It really reduces the enjoyment for the rest of us.
Highly recommended!

We learned a lot about the history of the shrine and about Japan in general during the two hour bus ride to Nikko thanks to a very engaging and entertaining tour guide. The sites were so beautiful, and we had ample time to see them fully. The lunch was also an amazing feast of a wide variety of delicious foods, which were also very welcome after a good amount of walking and stair climbing at the shrine. With the pre-arranged transport, meal, and English language tour, this was the perfect first-day excursion for our family five (ages 9+)!
Beautiful places, but the guide let us down
Laure_C, Jun 2023
All the places listed are a must seen! However the guide was not useful, very little information provided. The lunch isn't worthy either.
One historic site and two natural beauty locations
pavel_g, Jun 2023
Great places. One historic site (Nikko shrines) and two natural beauty locations (lake and waterfall). The organizers may like to try separating them. Those who like history and those who want to see mountain lakes are usually different people. We were in Nikko on Sunday, June 4th. The shrines' area was overcrowded and somewhat over-commercialized. If you want to pay homage to the leaders who change/defined the history of the nation, try to select a better time, maybe even in the bad weather.
A fairly interesting tour.
Jon_G, Jun 2023
I thought the tour was enjoyable. We spent a lot of time at the temple, maybe too much. We probably could have done or seen something else during that time (or arrived back in Tokyo earlier). Very little time is spent at the lake, and a bit more time is spent at Kegon falls. The elevator down to the base is not included in the tour, but is definitely worth it. The lunch we purchased was pretty good, though it seemed both organized and disorganized at the same time. The tour guide was ok, but didn't exactly do a great job at keeping us all together, and sometimes led us down paths that said exits and talked in areas where there should be no talking.
