What To Expect

Select a convenient departure time when booking, and begin your tour at Rainbow Helicopters located in Honolulu International Airport.

Climb aboard your helicopter and enjoy your pre-selected choice of a “doors on” or “doors off” flight as you take off above this tropical Hawaiian island. Cruise above some of Oahu’s most famous landmarks, starting with a bird’s eye view of the Honolulu Harbor and a flight over the island’s south shore.

You’ll then zoom above the famous Diamond Head crater before proceeding above the clear waters of Manalua Bay and the vibrant reefs of Hanauma Bay on Oahu’s eastern shore. From there you’ll pass near the tiny lighthouse above the cliffs of Makapu’u and then trace the Ko’olau Mountains heading toward Lanikai Beach and the “Chinamans’ Hat.” Continuing your scenic ride, travel up into Ka'a'awa Valley and get a panoramic look at Sacred Falls, Oahu’s tallest waterfall.

Finish up your breathtaking helicopter experience by cruise over to the iconic Pearl Harbor site, where you’ll get an up-close look at the iconic USS Arizona Memorial before heading back to the airport.

  • Total weight per passenger: 280 lbs
  • Confirmation will be received at time of booking
  • Safety of flight is our primary concern. The operator reserves the right to refuse service to passengers who are intoxicated or appear to be intoxicated. Intoxicated passengers will not fly and they will be charged in full.
  • For doors off tours, jackets and/or sweatshirts, closed toe shoes, and hair ties are required. Long pants are recommended.
  • When booking the doors off experience, your seat may or may not be directly adjacent to an open door.
  • Only passengers weighing 80 lbs or more may fly with the door off in our Robinson R44 helicopter. Only passengers weighing 100 lbs or more may fly with the door off in our Airbus Astar helicopter.
  • All passengers 24 months and older must purchase a full fare seat.
  • For each guest weighing 260 pounds or more, a weight and balance fee is required to safely balance the aircraft. For guests weighing between 260-279 lbs, a fee in the amount of 50% of the seat price will be assessed after booking. For guests weighing 280 lbs or higher, an additional seat purchase will be assessed after booking.

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

  • For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

A must do!! Jojo, our pilot, was very knowledgeable and a great guide. We flew over Diamond Head, saw where Jurassic Park was filmed, and literally flre OVER a rainbow!

Great experience, beautiful views, knowledgeable pilot Derrall explained everything. Loved it❤️! Don’t forget tipping, saw people walking away, it is not a cheap ride but try to calculate that in.

Everything was going well - beautiful views!!- til 25 mins into our 45 min flight, the pilot announced there was “something wrong with the helicopter” and we needed to head back to the airport. She didn’t elaborate and we didn’t ask but we were scared the helicopter was about to crash ! Those are words you do not want to hear way up high ! My son was scared enough flying on a helicopter but that made it far worse. As we left, paramedics arrived leading us to think there was something wrong with the pilot. Had she not said anything we never would have known something was wrong- we didn’t sense the helicopter or she was struggling in any way. I was so happy to have a female pilot and she seemed confident and kept calm no matter what was going on. Despite that it’s going to be a long time I’m sure before my kids get back up in a helicopter. The company did give us credit for a shortened tour. I wonder in retrospect if I should have asked for a refund? But I’m not a Karen.

My 16 year old daughter and I LOVED our time during this tour. Our pilot was friendly and informative. We chose the doors off option and we were glad we did. I wound recommend a long sleeved shirt as it hit a little chilly.

I have to say this trip way exceeded our expectations. We have never done anything like this before and oh my god what an amazing experience. Our pilot Tony was so informative and so much fun and fully engaged with us the whole flight. If you are thinking about this trip go for the doors off tour can't say enough about how good it was and the views of the island no comparison.

As a person that's afraid of highs, dors-off helicopter was probably the most terrifying thing I ever done. But it was worth every penny and would do it again without hesitation!! Amazing pilot/guide. The view over the mountains and Pearl Harbor was great, especially after being ther. Climbing the mountains was great but seeing the island from the air is way better! You could really see the Arizona under water. I would recommend all to choose dors-off because the windows blurs the pictures. Don't worry, they give you phone cases to hang around you're neck so you don drop it! The 45 minutes flight was perfect since you got to fly across the island as well. P.s. bring a long-sleve shirt for the wind.
