Brent was a great tour guide. He conveyed his knowledge not only of the food but also culture and local customs. We had fun, ate well, enriched our minds. Loved the local places he picked that we would not have found on our own. Even if we did, wouldn't know what to order.

Wow! Incredible tour. Levy was hilarious and knew his historical facts and knows the alleyways like the back of his hand. Great food. We were all full by the second stop but made the 3rd stop happen anyway. Have to, eat til tou drop dead is the Osaka slogan!

I feel that there were interesting restaurants but I didn’t feel very comfortable in the way the places were too packed and not cozy enough. There should probably be one restaurant which was the final one as the highlight after a few short visits to two other places.

Not a Cookie Cutter Tour

We had a great time with Ferdinand who I felt really showed us what really living in Osaka looks like. It’s really off the beaten path that you would normally take as a tourist and it’s definitely not like a cookie cutter type of tour. It really went against my expectations in the best way possible. I tried food I’d never try, went to places I’d never go, and saw things I probably would’ve missed on my own. Great tour, would highly recommend.

Dominic really knew his stuff and took us on a great tour. We visited pubs and eateries that we wouldn’t have found by ourselves. The food was fabulous and ‘outside the box’ of what you would normally expect in Japaneses street food. It was a fun group and a great way to finish our Japanese holiday.

Although this was not the original food tour we booked, Viator did a nice job of suggesting this deep dive tour instead. Lito was an entertaining and knowledgeable guide who really knew his way around the tiny winding streets of Tenma and Kyobashi areas. He was Canadian so we had no problem with language. We loved the fun atmosphere of the restaurants we visited and found out so much about the Osaka culture and food scene. We went to restaurants we never would have found on our own and tried foods we would not have ordered but were pleasantly surprised at the flavours of some unusual foods! There was lots of food and drink to go with it! A great tour! Thanks Lito!

Really enjoyable experience despite torrential downpours! Had a great time on this tour learning lots about local food, culture and traditions, topped off by meeting some eccentric locals in the Dotonbori district which truly made this feel unique.

We went to areas we would never have seen whilst walking on our own. We saw eateries, bars and other interesting places frequented by the local citizens and not necessarily by tourists. We enjoyed delicacies We would never find back home. Our guide, Levy was informative, humorous and kept us entertained throughout.

Tried lots of things we never would have otherwise, and the group was small enough that we enjoyed getting to know each of the other participants personally. Amazing experience! Lito is really something, a very good and funny guide. I really enjoyed the way he liven up the tour. I would have spent more time exploring the city and food with him. The group was really nice and he made us discover many japanese special dishes. The quality of the food was excellent and I felt immerse in Japan typic restaurants, not tourist trap. I would totally recommand it for anyone. Like he said… a Lito bit of Japan! Haha :)

Fun but poorly organised

The people on the tour, the guide and the fun locals we met at the last restaurant were the highlight! The food was not great. The first restaurant we went to was shut, the second was rushed but the third was fun! The guide was great but I enjoyed walking around Tenma market and surroundings myself and going into restaurants and bars along side the locals.

Hi Jenna. All the restaurants we go to are independently run operations, and once in a blue moon one of them is shut unexpectedly. But on the bright side, I am happy to hear you enjoyed the people, guide, and (though we can't accept full credit!) the fun locals you met at the last restaurant. I do humbly counter your assertion about the food being "not great." Almost everyone who takes this tour loves the food (and the great variety of it too), but the food is a genre perhaps different from what you might have expected. Our tour provides lots of Japanese-style pub fare as well as small tapas-style plates of various seafoods, vegetables, and meats too.
