What To Expect

Meet your Oxford University student guide in central Oxford, and head for Hogwarts' Infirmary, set in one of the halls of the famous Bodleian Library.

Imagine the infirmary’s beds in place here, and admire the richly sculpted beasts and biblical carvings that appeared in many of the Harry Potter movies.

Next, explore one or two of Oxford’s oldest colleges, delving into the rooms and cloisters that featured as Hogwarts’ gloomy interior. See other filming locations, hear trivia about the characters and movie productions, and enjoy an entertaining quiz, testing your knowledge of all things Potter.

Along the way, hear about Oxford’s place in the annals of famous children’s literature, learning how books like 'Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland' and 'The Hobbit' were written here.

Your tour includes admission to the Bodleian, and at least two Oxford University buildings—although entrance cannot be guaranteed. Finish with a tour of Christ Church, with admission at your expense. The admission fee is charged as an extra as the college is often closed or has long lines, so the fee is not included as standard.

Your tour concludes at Christ Church, whether you explore it during the tour or not.

That was a phenomenal tour! I don’t know the young gal’s name who led it, but she was fantastic! She was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, fun, engaging, and so thoughtful of everyone in the group. I cannot speak highly enough of her. I especially appreciated how she included information about CS Lewis, JRR Tolkien, and Lewis Carroll as well as JK Rowling and the books and movies. Potter and Oxford fun for kids and adults!

Nancy was an excellent tour guide who incorporated so much into the tour! Harry Potter film facts, Oxford history, Harry Potter quiz, and more. The kids really enjoyed it and the adult learned a lot about the University. Only comment would be that the website is misleading as it says that entrance to the Bodleian and a stop at The Bear is included. We did not do these things. That said, we loved our guide and would take a tour with her again!

Nancy was great! She was so enthusiastic and a great story teller. I could tell she really loved her job. She was very knowledgeable and kept us all interested. We had plenty of time to see what we wanted to see and she even gave us tips on when to come back and see certain things(things not included in the tour). She played games and kept us engaged and made the tour really interactive. Keep in mind it’s a walking tour and is nearly all outside. So dress for the weather. However it was a beautiful day when we went. I wish I could upload photos. It was magical!

Harry Potter disaster

We made arrangements months before the oxford harry potter walking tour and arrived on time to the designated meeting point. We learned from the local tour company representative that there was no harry potter walking tour at that time. We showed him our tickets and he claimed it was a Viator mistake, not his problem. We protested and he sent on another general university tour. He completely through Viator under the bus, claiming it was their ticket, even through the ticket also printed Footprints name as well. Shame on both companies for their inability to communicate and coordinate, destroying a long-awaited tour opportunity. Do not trust Viator or Footprints ticket arrangements.

Great Harry Potter tour, needed better amplification for commentary

Absolutely the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because we often couldn’t hear the guide’s running commentary because the group was spread out in a long line and I was often near the end of the line. Otherwise, it was great and the guide was friendly and knowledgeable and did a great job. I can’t remember her name, but we were on the 12 noon Harry Potter walking tour on May 26, 2023. BTW- she was wearing the cutest cat knee socks :-)
