What To Expect
Meet your personal guide at a Paris hotel, and enjoy views of the Normandy countryside during the 2-hour drive to Honfleur, a centuries-old fishing harbor in Calvados that was beloved by Impressionist painters. Stroll through the heart of the old town, where brightly painted shops and boats reflect on calm, sheltered water. Learn about local history in Saint Catherine’s church and belfry, browse art galleries on quiet side streets and visit a Normandy seafood restaurant for lunch (at your own expense).
Continue to Giverny to learn about Claude Monet’s artwork and inspirations: stop by the painter’s final studio, see the former Café Baudy and visit Monet’s tomb at the local church. Visit the water garden that Monet captured in his vivid Water Lilies series and take in the finely arched Japanese bridge, then explore the home where he lived for 43 years. Return to Paris along the charming ‘Route des Crêtes,’ following the Seine river valley to panoramic views, a 10th-century watchtower and the elegant château of La Roche Guyon—if time allows, stop to explore the village of Vétheuil, another favorite subject of Claude Monet. Finish the day with drop-off at your hotel.
