What To Expect

Your tour starts by meeting your private guide at the Basilica du Sacre-Coeur de Montmartre, where you'll climb up the 300 steps to the dome for a view of Paris that includes the Eiffel Tower and La Défense, the financial district.

Learn about the history of the basilica, which was built between 1874 and 1914 on Paris' highest natural location—the top of Montmartre hill. See the Christ in Majesty mosaic, one of the largest in the world, and admire the Roman Byzantine–style architecture. When you leave with your guide, you'll visit Place du Tertre, a popular Montmartre square, from where you can stroll around on your own and continue your exploration of Paris.

Terrible: the meeting point and time we’re during an open air service, there were hundreds more people than usual and the chosen meeting point was amoungst it all. There was a open-air mass at the same time. Ridiculous, disrespectful and very disappointing.

Catalina was a wonderful wealth of information with a delightful personality! Great info out of the church. Because of the nature inside the church, trying to be quiet, it was hard to keep up with the info shared inside the church. A bit rushed inside. Perhaps headphones to hear all she had to share inside. And more time inside. Why did I think going up into the dome was part of the tour? Lovely stroll into the artists community and great recommendation for dinner at Moulin de La Galette. Going back to the area to try the crepes on Catalina’s suggestion.

We booked this tour last minute basically because we weren't sure what we wanted to do on our last day in Paris. We decided to take this tour the day before and it was one of the few tours left to book, so we were lucky to get it. The tour guide was AMAZING! (I'm so sorry I can't remember her name.) We ended up being the only 2 on the tour (another couple didn't show) so we had plenty of time to ask questions. We toured the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, outside and inside (whispering only of course), as well as the artist square and the famous La Maison Rose and the bust of Daida. She spent so much time explaining really cool facts about this area of Paris. She was very knowledgeable as this was our first time to the area. Our tour was about 2 hours and she insisted we tour the St. Pierre de Montemartre next door as well as go up the steps to the top of the Sacre Coeur after the tour was over. In addition to being a fabulous tour guide, she was also an awesome personal photographer! She made sure to stop for photos and even volunteered to take them, giving us the best angles and telling us where the best places were to take pictures (lighting, background, etc). It was so fun! We felt like we booked a personal photo shoot as well. She was really great. We learned a lot and we had a lot of fun. I am so glad we booked this tour. We loved this tour so much, that we ended up spending the entire day & evening in Montemartre, exploring all of the areas she suggested we go. It was a great day and a great memory of our trip.

We were a little late and our tour guide graciously waited for us before starting a very interesting tour of the church and area of Montmartre. My teen-age granddaughter said this was one of her favorite tours of the entire trip.

The guide did not show up. We were at the stated meeting place at 3:50 pm for a 4pm tour. Another couple was waiting there as well. We all waited until 415 pm . The guide did not show so we walked around ourselves.

Wonderful Tour with Lots of Information

I think the tour guide makes your tour and Julien did not disappoint! The tour consisted of my husband and me and one other couple. Julien started off by giving us the history of Sacre-Coeur. He then brought us into the church and was very respectful of the request for silence. He pointed out several things and had notes on his phone for us to read. He also walked us through Montmartre and gave us so many factoids. We really enjoyed this tour and highly recommend!

We left the tour half way through. Was not pleased with the guide. The tour was of the neighborhood not the church and church history. I'd advise if you want to do the church, save your money and do it yourself.

Brilliant tour of the town around Sacré-Cœur

I thought the tour would be of the inside of the church. It did not include going inside; you are on your own there. The town historical tour was amazing. Not too long and very informative. Severine Cortines - tour guide Was phenomenal. Beautiful part of Paris on the hill. The neighborhood nearby away from the tourist area is very nice. Patisserie and great places to eat. We enjoyed Cafe Bruant. Long walk to Mulon Rouge, which is not much to see.

Wrong meeting location. Left without us. Not willing to give us a credit. Finally, after getting our travel agent involved they conceded and gave us half back as a refund. DO NOT DO THIS TOUR!!! There were many other tour groups who had a tour guide and they looked engaged with their customers.

Don't bother with Viator-go on your own

Viator cancelled our 10 AM reservation and moved it to 4 PM when the place is insanely crowded. The Viator ticket included two different instructions for meeting place, one of which (Boutique Souvenirs) does not even exist or has no signage. Instructions told us to look for our guide wearing a blue jacket and a red shirt with ID tag. When I finally found the guide, she was wearing a black t-shirt, black Disney sweater, and no ID tag. The only reason I found out she was the guide was because others, like me were asking people if they knew anything about the Viator meeting place and guide. Access does not require a ticket, talking is not permitted within the church, and the information provided about Montmartre is better explained in guidebooks and other resources. Sacre-Coeur is worth the visit but go on your own.
