What To Expect

Leave the bustle of Paris for the verdant Loire Valley, traveling by luxury coach from a central location. Those who appreciate French royal history will be captivated by the turreted Chambord Castle, previously home to Francois I—it's an impressive masterpiece and the largest of the Loire chateaux.

Head straight inside with your skip-the-line ticket and discover the richly decorated interiors. Admire the double-helix staircase reputedly designed by Leonardo Da Vinci, and listen to live or audio commentary about the French aristocracy.

Next, a picturesque drive leads you to the sumptuous royal residence of Chenonceau, nicknamed the "ladies’ castle" for the prominent women who have lived there throughout history. Skip the ticket line and be enchanted by its picturesque riverside views.

Your guide will offer recommendations on excellent restaurants and cafes.

Nightmarish experience
Erik_Y, Mar 2023
We've arrived at the meeting point 30 minutes early. Our tour pickup was at 7:00 am. Past 7 no one was showing up. I called the local tour operator multiple times. No one was answering. We've waited until 7:30 am. Finally a french lady approached us and said the tour left without us. She was unapologetic and arguing with us trying to blame us for their mistake. She even said she approached us to ask if we were part of the tour which was a big lie. There were 9 adults in our group and no one was approached or was asked if they were part of the tour. No phone calls, no emails no text from them. Paris City Vision was the local tour operator. They were horribly unresponsive, terrible customer service one that will give you nightmares. Very rude and unprofessional when speaking to paying customers. Unhelpful and will try to get away from their mistakes by initiating arguments. I will never ever book a tour with this company. I am now trying to recover from the horrible nightmarish experience we've had with them by asking for a refund for the tour they did not bring us to and now they have the guts to refuse it. What a real nightmare.

A long day, but a great...
Sheryl_L, Sep 2022
A long day, but a great trip. Consider a bit more time at one of the chateaus to have time to visit the village shops or have a glass of local wine.
Castles were Amazing.
Jose_C, Aug 2021
This was one of our favorite trips. We had a French guide, and she was exceptional. She knew so much about the history and castles, we enjoyed each of the castles. It is some walking and stairs, but some of the persons in our group that struggled were able to sit and enjoy the gardens. This was a wonderful trip, it is expensive, but the price includes entrance fees and a tour guide inside the castle.
Worst experience ever
Pilar_V, Jul 2021
The tour was horrible, im a 24 old girl alone and i got lost in the castle for 15 minutes and the guide tour left me!!!! i had to go back to paris alone. I would never ever recommend your tour. Pathetic!
Response from Host, Jul 2021
Dear Miss, I understand and agree with you that to be left behind is unaceptable, if you can give us some more details I will see with our guide how and why this happen. Be sure I will go to the bottom of it. Thank you Dear Miss, I have checked and the guide with the rest of the group waited for you 35 minutes at the meeting point, she even went looking for you around but did not found you. The schedule of the tour cannot be extended indefinitely for legal reasons of driving time so the tour had to leave. if you did provide a cell number at moment of booking it would have been very useful to find you. We are very sorry but the tour had to carry on for the benefit of all passengers. thank you for understandig Giovanni
Fabulous

So much fun! The tour guides were very friendly and keen to make sure we were all happy. The chateau’s were lovely. The owner of the chateau where we ate tried really hard to make us feel welcome and the food was all locally made. Love that kind of thing. Art, history, food and wine all in one experience!
Worth It Overall
Kathleen_S, Jan 2020
I found this trip to be worth it overall to get a stress-free day out of Paris at some beautiful castles. Some downsides were the amount of time spent driving (although it was so early that I slept on the bus, and they do everything they can to stretch the day out), and that I was less impressed with Chambord then Chenonceau. Chambord was freezing cold (it was January, early in the morning, and the castle was not heated) and frankly less impressive than Chenonceau. I also did the audio guide instead of live guide to save money, and found Chambord confusing to navigate by myself. Lunch was good not great but I was grateful they easily accommodated a vegetarian meal request I made day of. The wine tasting was brief and there were not seats for everyone, but the wine was delicious. We tasted three wines and were also offered snacks. The drive also included some pretty views such as a few villages that we drove through.
Loire Valley Day Trip, Chambord and Chenonceau Castles
William_K, Dec 2019
This was a very enjoyable trip. We saw there were trips which stopped at 3 chateaus but only stopping at two gave more time to view the chateaus. It was our belief that stopping at 3 would be too rushed. Our guide was excellent. We would highly recommend this not only to see the chateaus buy also to view the countryside. It is a drive but well worth it. The lunch was way beyond expectations. Really good food.
Guide was extremely boring
Rebecca_B, Dec 2019
While the castles themselves were beautiful, and I'm glad I went - I would have much preferred to travel there myself and do a self guided tour. Here's why: 1. Our guide was really boring, and the information he gave was very surface level -- I think maybe he didn't have a strong enough grasp of the English language to really dive into detail about things. He also would just leave when he was done talking, and didn't allow us to ask any questions. Instead he immediately returned to the bus while we finished wandering around. 2. The wine tasting was really lack-luster. There weren't chairs for people to sit in. It was literally in a cold hallway with a table set up with glasses. They didn't even rinse your glasses out between different wines. It was very strange. The boar pate was good, though...but that was only a bonus. 3. There is hardly anything inside the castles. There are some paintings and furniture, but only in like 2 or 3 rooms - the rest is totally empty. You're really paying to see the outside and take some pictures, so that's another reason why i would have preferred to just drive myself. Would have been cheaper probably.
Worth it if you don’t have the time to drive there yourself!

Loire Valley & the Château‘s are amazingly beautiful!! Because it’s so far from Paris (3 1/2 hour bus ride) the visits to the Château’s are very rushed. However if it’s your only opportunity to go out there I still recommend this tour. The buses are very comfortable.
Highly recommend

This was a really nice trip albeit long. Our guide was excellent. She did a great job of doing English and Spanish. It was a long trip back to Paris but totally worth it. Lunch was ok.
Worth the Bus Ride!
qbishop, Oct 2019
Our tour guide, Martina, was amazingly knowledgable! She gave excellent background information on the chateaux and their history. While we were hesitant about the length of the bus ride from Paris, the coach was very comfortable and the views were well worth it. The French countryside and medieval villages we passed through were gorgeous. Highly recommended!
Too long of a day on a bus with no legroom
krista_b, Oct 2019
Too large of a tour group. Feels like being herded along. Too long of a day. Would never do it again
A Wonderful Experience
TMangne, Oct 2019
Prepare for a long day, but one well worth it. Most of the time is spent travelling on a very comfortable bus, the the two chateaux are remarkable. Chenonceau is a jewel and Chambord, the largest of all of the chateaux in the Lorie Valley, is breathtaking in it size and design. It was quite eerie as there is virtually no furniture in it, and your footsteps echo throughout.
Astonishing

The road was a little long but comfortable. The guides were very kind, helpful and instructive. The visit to Chenonceau was the best. Chambord is less impressive but the wine tasting was excellent
Relaxing day strolling around Loire Valley castles
DRMariusSuta, Sep 2019
Went on the tour a bit upset after finding out that morning that instead of seeing Chambord and Chenonceau like on the ticket we went to Amboise and Chenonceau. only monday and fridays they go to Amboise , all the other days to Chambord didnt know that before. Anyway, even though it is smaller than Chambord, Amboise its nice and relaxing while Chenonceau is beautiful . All in all its a great way to spend your time at Loire Valley.

Castles were beautiful. Wine tasting was good. Bus trip...1st food/drink stop too short as another tour stopped for the same 20 minutes. Trip home was very long
Good tour
Kristine L, Jul 2019
Tour was good. Lots of information, group was slow. We had fun but was too slow for our liking. Food and wine was good and the castles were gorgeous.
July 13 Chambord and Chenonceau
Curious49837023773, Jul 2019
My husband and I enjoyed the 2 castles and wine tasting. The guide was very good and informative. The bus was a little disappointing due to stains on most of the seats and looked like it hadn't been cleaned recently. Overall though the trip was very nice.
Do Not Waste Your Money on this tour
Diane M, Jul 2019
We were on a bus for six hours for this tour and during that time period there was no commentary by the guides on what we were seeing in the countryside on the long bus ride. We saw two castles that were beautiful but not worth the 6 hours on the bus. The tour guide walked very quickly through the castles without checking to see if we were able to follow her or see her in the crowds. On walk to the second castle we were almost overrun by a golf cart and she just kept walking paying no attention to her clients. There was one stop on the way to the first castle and time to purchase food at the first castle. My daughter said they could have at least given us water and not asked us to buy it from the bus driver! I paid $195 each for 5 members of my family. We were all extremely disappointed and felt cheated. The wine tasting was minimal-- in a room in the second castle.
