Great eating and history walking tour in Montmartre

For this trip to Paris we decided to try some new things, away from the usual museums. This was a very fun and informative (and very tasty!) tour of the Montmartre area. Our tour guide, Bibiana, is a Montmartre local which was even luckier as the day of our tour was also the day of a metro strike! So if she hadn’t been local this would not have worked out! We walked up to the top of Montmartre, periodically stopping to both sample food and learn about the area (history, architecture, residents). Bibiana kept it fun and rolling along. We ended at Sacre Coeur, of course very beautiful. We recommend both this tour and Bibiana!

Such a great tour of Paris and Montmarte. Our guide was very knowledgeable and kind. We enjoyed the chocolate and crepes. We also truly enjoyed the history of the area. Be prepared! This is a very hilly area of Paris and our guide did mention some people haven't been able to tour the whole area.

Zoltan was a great tour guide however we did not get 10 tastings. We had more sweet than savory which still left us hungry. For the amount we paid I feel we did not receive enough food.

The food was amazing. Perfectly selected and sequenced throughout the entire tour. We loved the neighborhood and our tour guide gave us a lot of additional recommendations so that we could go back and enjoy the area.

One of my favorite parts of my trip. Olivia was AMAZING! She is very knowledgeable about the area. This area is very hilly! I had a wonderful time talking with her about many subjects not just Montmartre. It felt like I was having a walk/talk/eat/drink with a friend. There is a lot of food!! I am glad I had a backpack to carry the extras.

We had our tour with Olivia and she was amazing!! She was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and was able to answer many of our curiosity questions. She was easy to hang out with, talk to, and most importantly she did an awesome job on the tour.

We had a good tour, and an enjoyable few hours with some nice food. Our guide was not a born Parisian but was very knowledgable, friendly and helpful. My reason for rating this as ‘average’ is that it was more focussed on French History than food - I felt he was a historian rather than a foodie. One of the things we were bought was a baguette, which is difficult to know how to deal with between two people in the middle of a food tour, similarly going for a Coffee without comparative tasting or information about how Coffee is different in Paris is not especially interesting, however some of the tastings and the last stop were very good, and our guide overall was lovely, and despite having stayed in Montmartre previously we found lovely places we didn’t know, and lots of information about the area. A good tour, but not entirely a Foodie tour.

Fun in Montmartre

Nella was wonderful. She gave me an insight into the richly historical area of Montmartre. It was so relaxing to sit down and taste the excellent cheeses she had selected. I even had a chance to drink European expresso (which I never liked) but enjoyed it when Nella suggested the “ correct” way to drink it. I highly recommend this private walking/ eating tour. It was a lot of fun.

Bibiana was an amazing guide for this private tour. Her passion for the area was contagious. Great mix of neighborhood history and local food tastings. Loved the area, so plan to spend more time after to explore more on your own.

Unfortunately, this was not a gourmand food tour - it was an extremely basic food tour which didn't provide anything beyond very basic, not gourmet, french foods. We didn't even go to all the stops or follow the itinerary as it's stated. Although that shouldn't be a poor reflection of the guide as he was great, but this should be marketed as a history tour with some basic Parisian snacks that you can get anywhere.

It was just ok , I didn’t feel we got a great opportunity to see the best Paris had to offer. The view at the top of Montmartre was excellent but that was about it .

We really enjoyed our private food tour with Mischa. She was friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the area. She gave us some great tips for places to visit for the rest of our trip too. The food was excellent. We tried oysters, quiche, bread,pastries, a fabulous charcuterie platter, and good wine. We really enjoyed going off the beaten path to authentic local establishments that were not overrun by other tourists. This is one of our favorite experiences for our first trip to Paris.
