What To Expect

Spend a day away from Paris and visit the Normandy beaches where thousands of the Allied Powers’ troops landed to free France from Axis control during World War II. During your early-morning ride aboard an air-conditioned coach to northern France, your informative guide shares fascinating commentary on the events of June 6, 1944, better known as D-Day.

Begin at the Utah Beach Museum, housed in an original German bunker and constructed on the beach where the first American troops landed. Here, learn about Operation Overlord (the Allied codename for the Normandy Invasion) and the invaluable assistance from French citizens that made a difference in the war.

Utah Beach is now home to one of only six remaining original B-26 fighter planes that were used during the invasion. Look out onto breathtaking views of the beach from inside the museum before heading down to the beach itself.

Next, head out to the countryside to a 17th-century barn with a traditional cider-making orchard, and savor some of its cider and calvados (an apple-based brandy). With your appetite opened up, settle in for a 2-course lunch at a restaurant overlooking the port of Grandcamp-Maisy. (Lunch typically includes a main course of fish or meat, dessert, and a glass of cider.)

After your meal, your coach takes you to Pointe du Hoc, a cliff-top German defense the US troops heroically seized. Continue to Colleville-sur-Mer and pay your respects to the fallen at the American Cemetery.

From the cemetery, you can see Omaha Beach, one of the landing beaches where many American soldiers are buried. Inside the Omaha Beach Visitor Centre, gain insight into the landings that did not fare accordingly to plan.

Then, board your coach for return transport to your departure point in Paris.

Musee du Debarquement Utah Beach

You’ll join your expert guide in Paris aboard a comfortable, private coach. On the way to Normandy, learn the details of the Allied preparations for D-Day, the largest amphibious assault in history. Your guide, a fluent English-speaker, will stay with you throughout the tour to tell the story of the operation and answer questions from history buffs and curious minds. On Utah Beach, your first stop, the Allies quickly defeated the German forces. You’ll visit an extraordinary D-Day museum housed in an old German bunker on the landing beach itself. The collection here brings home both the scale and the personal sacrifice involved in the operation, with an original B-26 airplane on display along with collections of soldiers’ letters home.

Wear comfortable clothing and settle in for a memorable day.
It was a long day of travel, but so worth it.
It's a little bit of a hike from the parking lot to the cemetery, so you have to hustle to see what you want to see.

Going back in History!
Angela_G, Mar 2023
Going to Utah beach and going through the Museum. Also going to Omaha Beach and seeing the cliffs and bunkers still on the beach.
Uncomfortable ride
Mary_S, Mar 2023
The tour guides themselves were very informative on this tour; however I am scoring low due to the transportation. It was noted a coach bus for a four hour ride, but it was horrible. There were a few Seats broken in a reclined position, less leg room than airplanes seats, no bathroom ( they did provide a rest stop for a break halfway there, but then due to the number of people it put our tour behind right from that point) , the extended outside drivers’s mirror even had duct tape around it. Honestly for the price, if there was a better coach bus, it would be worth the money. Our group of eight felt this was a disappointment considering 7.5-8 hours were the bus ride itself, make it more comfortable needs to be done.
John and Brad were the best

My grandfather 🇺🇸🙏
Vicki_O, Mar 2023
My grandfather was buried in the American Cemetery for about 1 year until he came home. We have all the documents from the time he was KIA to his final resting place in California and the name of the soldier that escorted his body home 🇺🇸🙏
Great Day Trip
Gerald_O, Mar 2023
This trip was great. Unfortunately, you only stay at each place for a very short period of time, but due to the travel time, it is unavoidable and expected. Our guides were knowledgeable and very friendly. We would highly recommend this as a day trip from Paris.

You have to go. We saw Utah beach, point de hoc, Omaha Beach, and American cemetery We also went to a cider and calvados’s tasting and had a great lunch included. This is a long but great tour. It is a 14 hour day from Paris.
Amazing history experience
Susan_G, Mar 2023
Our guides’ knowledge was amazing. I don’t think the trip would have been as meaningful without the history lesson from John about World War II.
I must-do!
Danilo_B, Mar 2023

Quality tour and awe-inspiring sites
Peter_G, Feb 2023
Our tour guide Imad was very helpful and knowledgeable. Seeing the cemetery and Omaha Beach were the most important stops and I wish we had more time there. The meal was forgettable. The cider was quite good and at a scenic farm.
Enchanting Normandy with Imad
RabiSankar_S, Feb 2023
It was an enchanting Normandy trip with Imad. I really appreciate his knowledge of WWII & the way he engaged us in the bus on the way to Normandy. Also would like to mention another incident happened with us, there was a medical emergency & and Imad did whatever he can at his capacity & helped us which we’ll remember for the whole life.
Wonderful
Ashlie_L, Feb 2023
Peter with City of Lights tour was one of the best guides we’ve ever had and we’ve taken many tours. He was a living history book. Would 1000 percent recommend!
very good
Rama_R, Feb 2023
I wud spend less time at the cider tasting and more time at the american museum, we only had 20 min at the american cemetery
Poor customer experience
Lindsay_D, Jan 2023
The tour guide left 15 minutes earlier than planned so we did not make the tour. There were 2 other groups of people who were supposed to go on the tour and also didn't make it. It was a small group tour so we would have thought that if they were leaving early they would have called those of us who had not arrived yet, but none of the groups received a call from the tour guide. We called the agency and they said they were unable to do anything or refund us even though they did not follow their own meetup instructions. We also contacted Viator who said they were unable to refund us. I would not recommend supporting this agency, who provided an overall poor customer experience.
Response from Host, Feb 2023
Hello Lindsay_D, We are very sorry to hear that you were unable to join your scheduled tour to Normandy with us. We ask our customers to check in for their tours 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. This information was listed on your booking voucher. Unfortunately, however, we cannot wait for late comers as this will result in delaying the whole group.
