What To Expect

Claude Monet, the father of the Impressionist art movement of the late 1800s, lived and worked just outside of Paris in Giverny, where he spent his days indulging in his passion for botany and gardening. On this half-day tour from Paris, feast your eyes on his charming home, which sits on a large property made up of extensive gardens.

Your tour starts with departure by coach in either the morning or afternoon (depending on option selected when booking) from the city center. When you arrive at Giverny, take a walk through the front gardens and orchards with your guide, and gaze upon an array of vivid blooms (depending on the season). Then stroll over to the legendary water lily pond that so inspired Monet, and cross the oft-painted Japanese bridge. Enjoy the tranquil environment created by weeping willows and bamboo trees, and pose for photos in your own Impressionist-style landscape.

Skip any lines and head inside the house, which was painstakingly restored to its former glory after it was donated by Monet's son to the French Academy of Fine Arts. Your guide leaves you here to explore the kitchen, bedrooms, and other spaces on your own. Admire Monet's private art collection, including Japanese garden prints. Then wander into his studio and peruse the large souvenir shop, where you can purchase reproductions of Monet's paintings, pottery, and even flower seeds.

Your tour ends with the drive back to Paris in the comfort of your coach.

It was easy to meet the bus for our tour. Our guide gave so much informative on Monet’s life before arriving which made our visit more special. Lovely stroll through gardens and home to see how they lived. Recommend

The guide was great- humorous, flexible and very informative. I would have liked to have more time with him. The gardens even in Fall are wonderful. It was delightful to get of the city and see the country homes and forests and farm lands.
Any art fan must see

Wonderful! Even at the end of the season the gardens were still beautiful and in bloom. Our tour guide was great though we got turned around coming out of the museum but ended up back at the bus before departure. Lots of information about Monet and his life and what led him to become an impressionist artist. Definitely my favourite tour so far.

Wonderful tour of Monets gardens and house. Our tour guide Steve was excellent and detailed Monets life from a small boy through his adult life and to his death. I highly recommend this tour.
A lovely first day in France

As lovely walk through garden and Monet’s home. Our guide, Martina, was kind and informative. We learned much about his life.
Enjoyable Giverny experience

The gardens were as beautiful as we envisioned and our guide was helpful and the transportation was punctual and comfortable.
Very disappointing
Wendy_V, Oct 2022
We were very disappointed with this trip. The tour guide was very pleasant, but only provided information on the bus portion of the tour. When we arrived at the home/garden, the only “guiding” she did was to tell us how to get in and out of the garden and back to the bus. She gave us no information on the garden or Claude Monet’s life there. Very disappointing!
Lost in Monet
Mary_W, Oct 2022
The guide was knowledgeable and certainly made the trip interesting. It was quite foggy in the morning lending to a dreamy atmosphere of being inside of a beautiful work of art. The final hour was on our own to shop or linger in the gardens, however her (the guide’s) directions back to the bus were horrible. We were lost along with others from our tour who were also lost. As a result, several of us made it back to the bus (finally) almost 15 minutes late. Still others had not arrived back to the bus and she (the guide) departed without them.
Definitely worth seeing!

The site is beautiful and a nice break of nature from the urban Paris. Our guide Alex was pleasant, knowledgeable, and exhibited grace under fire. A pity the site is so crowded. Made me glad we had the guided tour so Alex could maneuver us around. Definitely worth seeing!
Mostly good
Keith_K, Sep 2022
The tour was pretty good. The locations were awesome and we enjoyed them thoroughly. The reason I say 'mostly' good had to do with the tour size. I think there were around 20 people or so. This may not be a problem on some tours. But, the The guide used a communication system where people had their own receivers to hear what the guide was saying, but at Monet house there are a lot of narrow passages where people have to walk single file around corners, under bridges, etc. So, the communication cuts out if you are near the back. Also when a line is 20 people long it takes a while to catch up. On the whole I still do recommend the tour though. My suggestion to the operator would be to do smaller groups.
Trip to Giverny
Maria_S, Sep 2022
We did not leave on time at 8:15 AM Instead we left around 8:30 am Just sat on the bus waiting. The tour guide was very nice but her tour guiding was just okay. She felt very badly that we could not use the restrooms when we arrived at Giverny. Why were the restrooms closed at 10:30 am? That was not very good for the tourists. The tour was very rushed and very crowded with too many people. Perhaps it would be a good idea to limit the groups that go there every day. I did not even go inside Monet’s house due to the crowds. Too rushed. I will not recommend this tour at all.
Wonderful Day
Jean_B, Sep 2022
Beautiful trip. Alex was a wonderful guide! The arrangements were flawless. A great day! Flowers were gorgeous. A Fall burst of color. You could imagine the master at work in the garden.
Wonderful
joe_p, Sep 2022
Money’s home and gardens particularly the water pond were extraordinary. Alexandra our guide was totally perfect and made this a very pleasant trip ( thanks Alex!)
Lousy tour. Take self guided.
Efrem_K, Sep 2022
Gardens and home wonderful. AC did not work properly. PA system did not work. Tour guide Alexa well below expectation. Did not appear interested. Monotone, seemed tired. Hearing aid did not work well. Would not take this guide again. Hesitant to take tour guide.
Great time, worth going
Tom_H, Sep 2022
Steve was a GREAT guide. His knowledge of Monet AND local history made the tour amazing. Steve was super helpful!
Tour only provided transportation
Fernanda_C, Aug 2022
This tour basically only provides the transportation to Giverny/Monet's house. There were some nice facts on the journey there and back, but there was no actual guided tour of Monet's house/gardens, which makes the price/title a bit misleading.
Beautiful gardens!
Durinda_C, Aug 2022
Love seeing what is blooming in Monet's gardens in the summer. Trip is just long enough for teens to enjoy without becoming bored. Bus trip is very comfortable. Guide Julien is excellent and very understandable.
