Yummy food and other fun surprises

Kaitlin P. was a marvelous tour guide. She cares about food, history, people, and the city of Philly, and it showed. She offered a few extra surprises and historical tidbits along with the information (and eating!) of wonderful foods. I also learned about other great options to visit and sample.

This is a walking tour, wear your comfy shoes. Our tour guide was Adam and very knowledgeable. He gave pieces of history while walking, eating and answering our questions. He was also. Very patient:) We did have a slice of tomato atoe pie, a piece of pretzel, cheese fries with a cheese steak, a cookie and Whoopi pie from Reading terminal. I would recommend This tour for anyone wanting to get a taste of Philly and learn the awesome history Philadelphia has to offer. We definitely will book again when we bring our kids.

Rushed, Poorly Done

Unfortunately the tour we signed for wasn't available so it was changed to the "gourmet", later, option. Which coincided with rain. OK, we're flexible. BUT it was a lot of crowding into the market (initially) and standing around, one gal left from physical limitations (which she'd mentioned at least twice before standing around). The first "gourmet" taste was cheese curds and corn dog (better known as a mouth full of salty cholesterol). We all joked that it had to improve. Tour guide very rushed, but friendly atmosphere. Next taste was middle eastern, actually quite good. Next was moon pie. At that point the rain is lighter and we run for cheeses. Ended with dessert, which after walking in the wet was fine. "Meh" overall rating. It's fine if you're hungry or not well versed in food, but if you're a foodie, skip it.

There is so much that we want to squeeze into our tour, and spending the first hour in the Reading Terminal Market does require guests to be on their feet for that long, which we try to be sensitive of and keep our tour moving along. My apologies if this felt rushed. The rain can definitely affect the experience too, but I'm glad to see that you still liked most of the foods and enjoyed our Tour Guide's friendliness. An experience of Philadelphia food.

I enjoyed the combination of food and history on the tour. We toured some buildings and learned about the restaurants or tenants from a historical perspective. My daughter (16) thought there was too much time between the first 2 stops and the last 2 stops. We tasted Tomato Pie, which was a first, Philadelphia pretzels, a cheesesteak with Wiz Fries, a donut, and a cookie. What the tour gave me was an experience and places to go on a future visit to Philadelphia. The guide gave us suggestions of places to go, like Reed Market or other Cheesesteak places, and suggested we try Ice Water, which we did.
