I strongly recommend Chef Jacqui and this wonderful tour of this gem of a Philly neighborhood. Chef Jacqui is knowledgable and took great care of us and the other members of the tour. The tour gave us the history of the neighborhood and a variety of the food that was available, and was a wonderful way to spend a few hours at the Italian Market.

Delicious History

Jackie is super knowledgeable about Italian history and the story of the Norther and Southern cuisine. We had so much fun we would do this again just to listen to her wonderful stories! The shop owners were all lovely and we made sure to purchase some delicious foods. We were fed really well on this culinary adventure.

This food tour was awesome. We loved everything we ate. We have been on at least 10 food tours around the world and this was one of our favorites. The chef grew up in the neighborhood and shared many interesting facts. She knew everyone we ran into. Her personal touch made the tour shine. We loved the stops so much we bought additional items to take home. We will definitely take another tour with this chef.

Italian market tour with a true local

This was a great food tour. We have been on food tours before in different places, but this one was set apart by the tour leader Jacquie. We learned that Jacquie grew up near the Italian market, and she appeared to us to know everybody in South Philadelphia by name as she walked by them! We received a unique personal history of the area and understand it much better now. Food highlights included DiBruno brothers and Isgro bakery which we’ve been back to since the tour. Their baked goods are incredible! Thank you for a great tour.

What a fabulous tour! Jackie was so friendly and engaging, and she really took the time to make sure we had a wonderful tour! She took us to several shops and eateries where we were able to sample authentic Italian cannoli, pizza, pasta, cheese, and other tasty treats, and she was an amazing storyteller about the history of the Italian community in Philly. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting!!

My girlfriend and I took Chef Jackie’s tour and it was “fantastic”. I would recommend this tour with Jackie and I would take it again! Jackie is professional, prompt and very knowledgeable about the Italian Market District. It was special to learn all of the historical information and every location was exciting. The food was delicious and filling. Jackie has wonderful relationships with all the locations on the tour. She is a world of information beyond the Italian District.
