What To Expect

After hotel pickup in Phoenix, you’re transferred to Deer Valley Airport, or make your own way there at your chosen departure time. Once the licensed pilot and experienced crew get your hot air balloon ready for flight, climb inside the basket for the approximate 1-hour ride.

You’ll feel almost motionless as your balloon gently leaves the ground, traveling at speeds of 5–6 mph (8–9.6 kph). Float with the wind on an airy ride at elevations as high as 5,000 feet (1,524 meters). During your breathtaking journey, peer out over the Phoenix valley and enjoy a panoramic vista above the impressive saguaros of the Sonoran Desert.

Exhilaration comes with the sunrise followed by a gourmet breakfast. Upon landing, take part in a ballooning tradition by toasting your aerial tour with chilled Champagne. Then enjoy cuisine catered by the award-winning French-fusion restaurant, Vincent on Camelback. (See sample menus in Itinerary below.)

You’ll receive a commemorative flight certificate and, if you opted for hotel transport, be dropped off in Phoenix to complete your tour.

Phoenix Sonoran Desert Preserve (Pass By)

All hot air balloon tours check in at the Deer Valley Airport Balloon Ride Parking Area, unless the roundtrip hotel transfers option is selected. Guests will float above the awe-inspiring Sonoran Desert viewing local landmarks, wildlife and plant life from above.

Camelback Mountain (Pass By)

Enjoy stunning views of iconic Camelback Mountain in the heart of the Phoenix Valley. You pilot will share the history of this fascinating city and will point out local wildlife and plant life.

Darn weather cancellations

Balloon flight was cancelled two mornings in a row due to weather (wind I suppose). Afternoons not offered as of mid-March. Better safe than sorry - we will try again on our next trip. Reason to come back!!!

Our pilot Mike was very experienced and made us feel safe. Him and his crew were efficient. We had to change take off locations three times so we miss actual sunrise but it was still a wonderful experience.

This experience was EVERYTHING! Nick was my driver and Johnathan was our pilot. They are a great team. Johnathan is hilarious! The ride was so smooth. It was peaceful, and watching the sunrise was priceless. I was so worried as I was only in Phoenix for four days. My initial date was canceled. I wanted to rebook for the following day, and was told that it would more than likely be canceled too. It was all weather related. I know it was out of the company’s control. However, I was on pins and needles for the rescheduled day as I was leaving the day after. I’m so glad the weather permitted our ride. From watching the whole process of preparing the balloon to fly, to eating breakfast, and drinking mimosas in the desert was AMAZING! In addition, the breakfast was actually delicious!!! This experience is EVERYTHING!

This was a bucket list trip for me and it was nothing short of amazing! Alex, our driver was informative and friendly. Matt, our balloon pilot was fun, as well as knowledgeable. The brunch set up was very nicely done. Altogether a great experience, lots of hidden fun and excitement!!

This flight was for my husbands birthday and my granddaughters Xmas gift. It was a perfect day for flying. They enjoyed everything. They also met some very nice people also flying. And the breakfast topped everything off. The operator showed everyone a great time.

The flight crew did a great job explaining the process, setting expectations for the 1st time flyers, which was all 10 of us. Captain Mike did a fine job lifting us up and gently floating through the entire journey, even the landing was smooth. Having a champagne breakfast in the middle of the desert was a great ending to the Wife’s Birthday celebration 🎂🍾. Definitely will do this again!!

We had a wonderful ride! This was our first balloon ride and we both enjoyed the ride and breakfast. I never imagined the takeoff and landing would be that smooth. Airline pilots could learn a lot from our pilot Jon.

Great experience but more time in car than expected

This was a great experience overall! Communication leading up to the experience couldn't have been better. I was able to text a representative about dietary restrictions and switching days due to the weather. The only con of the experience was the time in the car. We spent ~1.5 hours in the car picking up other participants and getting to the airport. We were clearly running behind and the driver was booking it to get to the take-off location on time. We were worried we would miss sunrise but also a bit uncomfortable with the car's speed. If I was doing this again I would've driven myself to the airport to avoid the super early wakeup, the stress of missing sunrise, and quick driving. However, we ended up making it just after the sun started rising and having a great experience. Once we got to the takeoff location we got off the ground quickly. The hot air balloon ride was beautiful! Our pilot was very knowledgeable about the area and his craft. The ride felt extremely safe and lasted the perfect amount of time (~1 hour). The landing was smooth and we had a great breakfast once we landed.
