What To Expect

This 8-hour tour of the Apache Trail starts with an early morning hotel pickup between 7:30a.m. and 8:30a.m. There are different cities other than Phoenix this tour will pick up from, and those include most of Scottsdale, Tempe, West Chandler, Glendale, and East Peoria. There won’t be more than five people on this tour with you, so your ride for the day is a comfortable air-conditioned van.

During the day, pass through the Sonoran Desert to get to the Apache Trail. Follow your guide along the trail as you learn about its rich history. The trail is 120 miles (193 kilometers) long, and there are many stories to be heard about it.

Stops made on the trail include Superstition Mountains, Tortilla Flat, and Goldfield Ghost Town. Plus you can also take a 90-minute steamboat cruise on Canyon Lake. See views from the Canyon Lake Vista before the day ends.

Your tour is over when you’re dropped back off at your hotel.

Great Experience
Emily_G, Mar 2023
Bobby was an excellent tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and super sweet. He even gave us some helpful tips for the rest of our trip. We saw so many beautiful sights. It was a great experience for our whole family.
A tour worth every penny.
kim_c, Mar 2023
Our tour guide, Bob, was amazing. He was knowledgeable about the Superstitious Mountains, the Apache Trail and the history of the area. We also enjoyed the different stops along the trail. Just a fun and informative trip. Our next trip will be The Grand Canyon Tour if we can get Bob as our tour guide.
Tour of Apache Trail and Superstition Mountain
KENNETH_C, Nov 2022
Had a full day semi-private Apache Trail Day Trip tour 10-27-22. The tour included stops at the Superstition Mountain Museum and Goldfield Ghost Town, a nature cruise of Canyon Lake aboard the Steamboat Dolly and lunch in the quaint little town of Tortilla Flat. The sights on the tour were wonderful and our tour guide, Lizette, was fantastic. Lizette was friendly, very knowledgeable, and quite engaging. She gave detailed descriptions and history of the areas visited, showed us the best picture taking sites, and took photos for us. She was an excellent driver, punctual, considerate, and made the entire tour a very enjoyable experience from pick-up to drop-off. Would definitely recommend this tour, especially with Lizette.
Great Tour Experience

Even though we were the only couple booked this tour, the tour wasn’t canceled. We got the VIP treatment. We had a fun day with the excellent guide, Bobby!
Not worth the money.
Gina_T, Oct 2022
The tour guide was very nice, however, the trip was far too expensive for what you got. The owners reasoning for the cost was that it was a small group, four people were on the trip, you don’t have to have a small group to get the full experience of this trip. It can be done for a lot less money.

Thanks very much for your review. We have been providing small group and private tours for 15 years and our guests have enjoyed the more personal experience very much. We are sorry that you do not feel the same way. When you called me and asked about the rate difference between us and the other company that had cancelled your tour last minute for not meeting minimums, I explained that we were a more personal and / or private service, to which you said "oh ok, that makes total sense no problem I understand". If it were not ok at that time, I would have given you the opportunity to cancel. I feel you aren't being forthcoming, because you are telling future guests there are other ways to do the tour, but not including that those other ways may be cancelled last minute like what happened to you. For those considering our tours, there are definitely other options in larger buses with 10 to 15 other people and the places that you visit are the same, but the experience is not. Each different outfitter fills a unique need. Our tour is 100% a great value if a more personal experience is what you seek. Also, we will NOT cancel last minute leaving you searching for another option. Safe travels and thank you.
An Awesome Apache Day

Stunning desert scenery
Sally_P, Jun 2022
Arizona Scenic Tours accommodated us through Viator at very short notice after our trip was cancelled with another provider. Not far out of Phoenix the scenery was dramatic and we then saw Superstition Mountain before going on a pleasant steamboat tour of Canyon Lake. Our guide Bobby was very friendly and knowledgeable and joined us for a delicious lunch at Tortilla Flats. We also stopped in at an old Gold Mining town on the way home.

Thanks for taking our Apache Trail tour! We are glad that you enjoyed the day!
Great Experience!
Doug_M, Apr 2022
We had a fun trip and guide. Jonathan did a great job driving through all the windy roads near Canyon Lake to avoid being carsick which could ruin the entire trip. He even stood in line to obtain our passes to the steamboat ride which were #’s 1-4 so we were able to have our pick of the seats. He directed us to the starboard side, up top for best viewing - which it was.
Response from Host, May 2022
Thanks very much for your review, and for taking our tour! I am glad that you enjoyed it, and great to hear you got some good seats on the cruise. Safe travels!
Awesome experience
Julie_S, Jan 2022
We had an awesome tour guide, Bobby, who made the trip very enjoyable. It was great seeing so many things in one day that we might not otherwise have known to see. Even saw an eagle on the Dolly Steamboat and delicious food at Tortilla Flat. We had to make changes, and they worked with us to do so.
A very enjoyable dya.
Harry_S, Aug 2021
Its an excellent itinerary including fun stops along the Apache Trail, excellent viewing and food, The Dolly Steamboat ride is just a special scenic boat ride.
Great time with family.
Ambrt_L, Jun 2021
Was so happy to feel like if we wanted to we could of stayed longer in some areas. Never felt rushed. Great tour guide named John. Will be asking for him if we go again.
Fabulous tour with Noel

Noel our guide was the best, so informative and learned a lot from him. Scenery was beautiful and boat ride very special

Bill_S, Oct 2020
We had a great time traveling the Apache Trail. Guide was very knowledgeable. There was a few places we got to that were either closed for the day (because of Covid) or that hadn't opened yet. Guide gave us the opportunity to wait until they opened or continue. We made the decision to continue as we were then able to see some additional scenery, which is what we were interested in, anyway. Boat was good. We managed to see Big Horn Mountain sheep. Meal stop was pleasant. I would recommend this to others.
Beautiful Day Trip!

Our first experience with a semi-custom day trip was absolutely wonderful! Steve was very accommodating, knowledgeable, and professional. We plan to return to Arizona in the future and will look to book additional day trips with this service.
Such a fun time !

Superstition mountain and Apache trail
Raymond_G, Oct 2019
A delightful day with Jonathan as our tour guide, my husband and I had as private tour. The ride thru Superstition mountain is amazing and beautiful. The boat ride was an added pleasure. As yours go, this was low key and relaxing.

Steve's guidance and knowledge helped us appreciate this scenic tour. His understanding of the area and timing allowed us to look in the shops and have a leisurely lunch and arrive at the steamboat in plenty time. We enjoyed the live band and eating outside at Tortilla Flats. I recommend their homemade salsa.

My husband and I had a wonderful time. Mike was a great tour guide and he brought along a very nice gentleman that he was training. We ended up getting 2 great guides for the price of 1. Loved the boat ride the best. The restaurant we stopped at was really yummy.

Visited 4 places with a picturesque enjoyable drive between 1.        Easy to set up details to meet at a hotel in Peoria about ½ way for each of us. 2.        Came on time Apr 6 in a nice van for my wife, daughter and granddaughters age 15 and 11 3.        90 minute drive to first stop 4.        First stop Superstition Mountain Museum. Multiple interesting sites. Since we arrived just as it opened we had the museum to ourselves. 5.        2nd stop Superstition Mountain Ghost Town 6.        3rd stop lunch at Tortilla Flat at Canyon Lake. Gave us a good taste of AZ atmosphere and food! 7.        4th stop 90 minute boat tour on canyon Lake. Beautiful scenery white Mt. Goats, eagles, in comfortable setting. Steve had made reservations so we were one of the first to board. What makes Steve a 5 tour guide 1. Very knowledgeable. When finally asked a stumping question, he did not guess, but while we toured the Superstition Mt. Museum he researched the Lost Dutchman mine stories and found out there are multiple legends and resolved our question. 2. The 90 min drive to Superstition Mt was very interesting as Steve pointed out facts and insights of places we drove by. 3. He gave excellent suggestions of what to do so we could maximize our enjoyment at each stop such as where to sit on the boat tour to get a good view and avoid noise of the boats engine. 4. Our Safety: hes a courteous and safe driver giving the 5 of us a private tour customized to our interest! 5. His cooler in the back of the van was well stocked with cold drinks and water.

This is a great way to see and understand what your seeing. We could have driven by al the same stuff and not really understood what we were seeing. I don't want to read the guide books - I want someone to help me experience it and Steve did that. Great trip, great guide. I thought Phoenix only had golf and nice weather - very scenic and educational.
