I strongly recommend that you wear good walking shoes because the cobbles and walls are very uneven making walking sometimes difficult.
For this reason, you have to really make an effort to keep up and stay close to the guide.

Great Tour

The tour guide here was really helpful in helping us understand the park and the significance of the eruption. The tour was good too and I recommend the getting a driver from the Naples station choice as I was only doing a day trip from Rome and it made it easy to not have to learn an entirely new train system or transportation system just to get to the park. The only thing I wished though was if the tour itself could volunteer some other ideas after the tour was over on what to see in the area or where one might eat. I actually had a worse experience after the tour was fully done and gone, and would have appreciated this additional guide/information about Napoli freely offered.

So happy I booked this tour for me and my family. Worth every penny. We would have been lost without such a knowledgeable guide who is also an archaeologist. His insights were incredible and helped us truly understand what we were looking at and how the people lived.

An excellent tour, Giulia was an amazing guide, definitely try and get her as a guide, she really knew her stuff. Pompeii is breathtaking, I liked also the fact we could explore for Pompeii independently for 30-45min after that portion of the tour. It was a small group (12 in Pompeii and 7 in Herculaneum) and it worked really well, A lot to see in Pompeii but having a guide helps to point out the main sites, but honestly I enjoyed Herculaneum more, a lot less people but it just seemed to be more complete preservations.
As for the logistics, asko tours did a great job overall, transport to and from Napoli central station went fine, although make sure you arrive early because the minivan and driver is not the easiest to spot, but they were accomodating in waiting for the final 2 people who were a few minutes late (flexibility is a good thing!). Luckily we had a small group, so were driven between Pompeii and Herculaneum rather than catching the train, this was a much better option.
Overall, its not a cheap tour (or day especially if coming from Rome) but well worth it, definitely deserves 5 stars and a strong recommendation!!

Guide/Archaeologist adds so much more to the visit

Outstanding focused tour.
The guide/archaeologist was tremendously knowlegable and accurate.
He stated to be parts of some teams recently helping in the continued excavation and research at Pompeii and that info continued to add more knowledge.
Herculaneum was also very interesting and so much more valuable with a guide, rather than self tour.

I thought that Michael did a good job of explaining things in both sites when we could understand him. I felt like it was really difficult to hear him at times. We were frequently left behind and the radios would completely cut off. He only asked one time if people had questions at Pompeii. The whole tour in general seemed really rushed which is not what we expected out of a whole day tour.

Our Pompeii and Herculaneum small group tour is designed for people who are interested in visiting both sites in one day: Pompeii in particular, but Herculaneum too, are big archaeological sites and you could spend hours inside to explore and see everything. Our visit tries to include their main highlights respecting the total tour duration (expressed on the website where you have booked) and also needs to take into account the sites’ closure times, which in winter is anticipated. If you didn’t want to feel too rushed, we have many private tours you could book for yourself and be led by a personal guide who would adapt the tour to your pace.
Concerning the radios, we are sorry if you struggled in trying to hear Michele. It would have been enough to stay a little closer to the guide so as not to have problems listening to him.
We appreciate anyway your feedback and remain at your disposal for any further clarification.
