What an amazing day spent with a very knowledgeable guide! Pompeii and Herculaneum were filled with so much history and artifacts. We stopped between sites at a great spot for lunch. Would recommend this to anyone! Josephine was our guide and we thought she was GREAT!

Our visit to that ancient civilization was excellent. Our guide, Paolo from Ciao Tours, has deep knowledge of life in the city, its engineering and inner workings, its art. With him, the ancient cities came to life. It was a wonderful experience. Paolo is very fluent in English and Spanish, and possibly other languages as well. Thank you, Paolo! We will never forget this.

Giusy (Josephina/Josie) was absolutely incredible in every way. She suggested an earlier meet up time than I originally requested to ensure our tour wasn't rushed. She is quintilingual and an archeologist that worked at Pompeii during her own studies. She is so in tune with both sites that she recognized when each new piece arrived day-by-day. She was responsive to us, adapted her style seamlessly to us, and knew SO much! We did 6 tours during 2 weeks in Italy and all were good. This was, by far, the best. She even helped us coordinate a private ride back to our base in Salerno when she saw my 71 year old mother-in-law was tired by the end in order to avoid us having to take the trains. We will talk about this tour and Giusy's amazingness for years to come. 6 stars out of 5. No, 10. Trust me, this is worth your money.

We took the train from Sorrento and met Paulo at Pompeii and he was the best guide. Knowledgeable and a great communicator, he brought the ancient city to life for us. Then he drove us to Herculaneum and helped us see and understand the similarities and differences in the 2 sites. After, he returned us to the train station at Pompeii so we could easily return to our lodging. Great guide and great tour.

Romolo was a fantastic guide! He messaged us on WhatsApp about 15 minutes before our tour so that our link up was easy. It was a very hot day and he ensured from the beginning that we had water. Then we began our tour began. His passion for history is apparent and infectious! He tuned in right away to our personalities (we aren’t stuffy people) and curiosities and catered our tour to them. He was personable and and even charming and learning of his life-long love of the history of the area he calls home ignited by touring with his grandfather as a child reminded me of my own outings through historic sites with my own grandfather as a child. It honestly felt like he enjoyed sharing his knowledge and experience as much as we did. Highly recommend!!

Paolo was the best tour guide my buddies and I had on our 2 week trip around, europe. He had incredible knowledge of Pompeii and Herculaneum telling many stories and describing the way of life and the meaning of each individual object within the two cities. He really brought the tour to life and I would highly recommend Paolo to anyone visiting these specific sights, I don’t know how you could find anyone better. Paolo was also extremely kind and helped my friends and I navigate from sight to sight.

Our guide’s enthusiasm for the history and artistic achievements of Pompeii and Herculaneum is contagious. Paulo has 15 years of guiding experience so he is highly familiar with the sites. He knew how to navigate deftly so we could maximize our time and dodge as many areas when they were more congested as possible. Our party was comprised of a mother and 24 year old daughter. We both thoroughly enjoyed our day. We had specifically looked for a tour that combined Pompeii with Herculaneum so we could compare them. This worked very well. The experience entirely satisfied our desire to be immersed in Roman history. I look forward to returning with other members of our family.
