Pompeii ruins and winery review

Our guide for the Pompeii tour was exceptional, always stopped her lecture to answer our questions. Don’t think there are too many places in the world that still have plaster on the walls with color pictures after 2000 years. When we were done with the Pompeii tour our tour guide brought us to our ride to the winery. The vehicle was clean like brand new and the ride to Vesuvius was outstanding. Our driver waited, while we had lunch and tasted 4 different wines. We were so impressed with the driver that we decided to have him take us back to our hotel in Positano. This was our favorite tour in Italy during our two week stay.

So-so experience

Not a bad tour, but for the price we expected better. The tour at Pompeii was light, even for 2 hours. There were a lot of walking through the site without any commentary from the guide, which seemed like a missed opportunity. The guide focused a good amount of attention on the brothels, which was interesting, but there is so much more to Pompeii than the brothels. Lunch at the vineyard was OK. Portions were a little small, no cheese was served on the appetizer plate, and the two main courses offered no meat. The host at the vineyard was personable and took the group on a quick tour after the meal. The transfer to/from the vineyard was comfortable and the drivers were very accommodating to take the groups to the train station of their choice.

Ciao Scarlett, Thanks a lot for your feedback, we always evaluate our guests' feedback and take advice to improve our tour quality. Regarding the Pompeii critic is the first time in five years that I hear something like this, I will investigate it, thanks. Regarding the walking with no commentary Pompeii is a site of 164 acres, to cover the main highlights in 2 hours there is a little bit of walking involved and I do believe that it could be nice that while you're walking (which is usually about a 30 secs, max 1 minute before we start explaining again) you will also admire the surroundings of the ruin Again I will investigate the part regarding the Brothel but the walking part I will not consider it, there is usually max a min of break and only when we walk, just because we also have to watch out for where we put our feet in the cobblestone. Regarding the lunch I would like to underline that is a lunch in a Winery, not in a vineyard, it does mean the main focus is the wine produced by the grapes that grow on the rich volcanic soil of Mt. Vesuvius, not a normal restaurant. Why am I underlining that? It is because you're doing a Vertical Wine Tasting Class, in other words you're tasting different wines from the same producer, pairing them with meat food will be ruining the wine tasting, because you're not tasting only one type of wine during your meal, you're tasting several wines(6 to be precise) and your palate will be affected by the fibers of the meat. I would also like to bring to your attention that the following menù was: Appetizer: Bruschetta w/Cured Meat, Grilled Veggies, Organic VeggieBall(Basically a meatball without meat) Main Course: Pasta with Cherry Tomatoes from Mt. Vesuvius and parmesan Second Course: Eggplant parmesan Dessert I would understand your criticism of the food if it wasn't enough but I do believe that it is a lot even for Italians, maybe you were just disappointed to not have a meat element in the menù but again I explained the reason above, maybe a wine tasting w/ lunch wasn't just a good fit for you, as long as a shared Pompeii Tour if you wanted to go deeper in Pompei, but that would require not less than 4 hours and not with the same price paid, shortly I do not believe it is our fault. I was personally the driver that day and I do remember you saying that everything was nice, I kinda feel a little disheartened to find out that you left us a 3 stars review later on that will affect a lot the quality certification that we sweated so much to build, and the reason for that is because we put our heart and passion in what we do, but I guess the world is beautiful because is so different, we can't make everyone happy no matter how hard we try but saying "So-So experience" is extremely rude in my opinion and very frustrating. Again we're very open to this feedback, but they need to have some solid base behind it, otherwise we can't take anything from them and they are just a random attack on our company reputation. We had a great guided tour which let us see all the must see spots in Pompeii with a very knowledgable guide. She provided great context to all the insane sights of the preserved city. Then we were driven to a lovely wineyard where we were given another tour. Ending with a fantastic 4 course lunch and wine tasting where we were treated phenomenally. Could not recommend enough?

My wife and I completed the tour and the wine tasting. THe tour was great with Teresa aka Mother Theresa. It was long enough, but not so long where we lost interest. The wine tasting and lunch was also great, lots of good wines with great food paired with it. Also the driver in between venues was hilarious, so that was an added bonus. Watchout for the vendors outside of Pompeii, they'll rob you blind, other than that, it was a great experience.

I completely understand that you wanted to see more but maybe I would have recommended you to book a private 4 hours tour rather than our option with lunch and wine tasting, we do advertise that it is 2 hours long for the Pompeii part, it is because we believe it is the perfect amount of time to see the highlights and have a wider view of the site without getting bored(and hungry too!). Our guides try their best to make our guests fall in love for Pompeii, so we take this feedback as a compliment to our guides that made you wanting visiting more of the site! All the best Giuseppe

Best way to see Pompeii with a knowledgeable guide vs. going through the ruins with just a map. Be prepared to walk on uneven cobblestones and bring water to drink! Enjoyed the lunch and wine tasting afterwards with a view of Mount Vesuvius in the background.

Teresa was such an amazing and entertaining guide!! Really enjoyed this tour as she only takes smaller groups - had a perfect experience in Pompeii - we weren't expecting the place to be so well preserved! Teresa walks you through what would have been a typical day in the life of living in Pompeii 2000 years ago and it's fascinating because you physically walk through the streets, shops, homes and brothels as Teresa explaines everything! Teresa is VERY knowledgeable and could answer any questions! - Giuseppe our driver to the Russo Vineyard was lovely - really friendly and helpful - he took the time to learn our names and overall he had a brilliant way with people! The wine tour was really lovely - and they were particularly generous with food too as there was three courses! You really get fantastic value for money here! Pompeii is an amazing place. The tour became rushed mainly due to late arrivals. The tour touches on the highlights of Pompeii leaving little to no time to explore. The lunch and wine tasting however is very good.

Theresa was a great Pompei guide, I can’t imagine going to pompei without a guide. There are so many things she told us about and pointed out that I would have never gotten if walking around on my own. The wine tasting was also great- really good food and 5 or 6 samples of wine. It was a little weird that we were seated at a table with two other couples from the tour instead of at a table on our own, but they ended up being really fun to talk to. There are free lockers at the entrance for small items, as well as large luggage storage at the train station (4€ Per bag)

So apparently Pompeii is HUGE, like you could spend two days there and if you don’t know what you’re looking at it is far less interesting rocks. So DEF get a tour. And this one was stellar! Our guide was fun, interesting, informative, and efficient. And the wine tasting lunch afterwards is exactly what you need!! It was 3 course and 4 wines plus a dessert liquor. We were a group of 3 who got paired up with a family of 5 that was so nice! Also this tour is amazing because they pick you up and drop you off at the Pompeii site (where we parked). Buy this your. It’s EXCELLENT

Our guide was Manuela. She was very accommodating and gave everyone time to explore and take photos. We also had a wine tasting at a nearby winery as part of our trip. The coordinator did an amazing job of making sure all transportation was arranged and on time. I highly recommend!
