Awesome family trip to Pompeii

Our guide, Lelo, was fantastic! He made all aspects of Pompeii approachable and interesting. We were able to see many different aspects of Pompeii and we are ready to go back and explore more. Lelo made the tour very interactive for our son and now he wants to go back!

An archaeologist who is simply enamored with Pompeii shared his vision of what was a seemingly destroyed city. My whole family did not see “stones and grubble.” We saw a city full of life, commerce, architecture, and genius engineering. I love the sequence of the tour, always leading up to something even more spectacular. This is a must for anyone who really wants to understand and appreciate Pompeii and archaeology. Thank you so much Lelo for personalizing the tour for my kids like a school field trip. This was my son’s all- time favorite tour and we did many! I feel lucky to find this private tour and actually have kids to qualify for the experience. All adults would appreciate it too. We didn’t get to see the more adult / harrowing / morose parts of Pompeii which is better for me. My memory of Pompeii is magical.

It was well worth booking a private tour with a guide who specializes in kids and family tours, for a number of reasons! 1. Roberta was absolutely lovely and met us at the exact time and place indicated in the reservation 2. Skip-the-line is fantastic, despite the thousands of people at the site we didn't have to wait to get in 3. Our 6 y.o. was not exactly enthused by the prospect of visiting a (quote "boring rocks") archaeological site in the middle of a heatwave - and Roberta with her unwavering enthusiasm and fun games, photos, and facts managed to engage Gala to the point that she was holding her hand by the end of the visit. All the information and highlights she pointed out were interesting to us adults as well. So much of which we'd never have found out on our own, as there's very little signage. 4. An experienced guide like Roberta clearly knows exactly where to stop for shade, which places to duck into to show us new exhibits/finds, and how to avoid crowded spots. We felt so very grateful for this insider's tour, it was worth every penny. Thank you again, Roberta, you are welcome in Barcelona any time!

Antonio is the best tour guide ever! Don’t miss exploring Pompeii this way.

(I hope this isn’t a duplicate; I reviewed the day of the tour but now it isn’t showing in my account!) Antonio (“the most beautiful guide in Pompeii”) is an absolute treasure. I’d love to return and schedule more time in the ruins with him, he was the best tour guide we’ve ever used; funny, personable, and incredibly knowledgeable. We had kids ranging from 5-12 and with interest levels to match and he was phenomenal. The kids said later that they loved how he asked them questions and let them try to reason out why things were a certain way; my 10 year old said she remembers so much more from that tour than from others because of how he taught them. He even brought them little magnets as prizes and a sweet picture book that he gave them at the end. (Plus he gave us a great lunch recommendation to cool off in a shaded garden after the tour!) I’d read that it’s hopeless to take in Pompeii without a guide, especially on a first visit, and I 100% agree; we’d have been overwhelmed and just wandered around but not learned much. Antonio has decades of experience and shared that he still notices new things all the time. Truly can’t say enough; we are still talking about him weeks later.
