BEST DAY BY FAR of our 8 day trip.

I wish Viator allowed MORE than 5 stars. We cannot begin to say how memorable this experience was. I proposed to my fiancé a year prior to the day. So, I wanted to create a special romantic day. I chartered this private excursion for us. Thankfully, Jon, the captain, and Kathy, his first mate, absolutely delivered on my expectations. We met them at the specified time. Kathy did a briefing with us and we boarded the boat safely. Everything was explained to us in great detail. We were asked if we had any questions and we did not. We then set off for a super fun and bumpy ride (it’s just the water, not anyone to blame but Mother Nature) to the snorkeling location. We brought our own masks but they would have been provided had we not. We did make use of their fins. Kathy joined us in the water and guided the two of us to the reef where she pointed out several different fish species. She actually dove to the bottom to retrieve an open and empty oyster shell for us as a souvenir. After about 40 minutes, we re boarded the boat to head to Icacos. Once at Icacos, we saw a few party catamarans. We specifically booked this to not be in the fray of a party atmosphere. We’re in our 50’s and wanted privacy and calm. We asked Jon if we could dock off the stretch of beach that was unoccupied. He was so accommodating and headed that way. He did say it might be rocky but he’ll try. And he got us right where there was no one. They then brought all our items like towels, hats, sunscreen, and our lunch that they provided (lots of fruit, sandwiches, chips, and any beverages we wanted). We did not drink anything alcoholic however, they did have rum punch and beer available. Anything else we needed, they brought from the boat to us on shore. There was also a floating raft that was tied off to the anchor line. AMAZING. Just laying there together and feeling the ocean beneath was truly magical. We decided not to visit Palomino. We were content there and did not want to pack up and setup again on another beach. So we opted to stay on Icacos and they were happy to do whatever we asked. Within reason, of course. On the ride back, we passed the island to learn its history and see it. We snorkeled again. This time my mouth piece was not working right so I borrowed their equipment. Excellent quality items. As we did that, they packed up the beach setup and started getting us ready to head back. Jon and Kathy also took incredible photos of us and for us with our phones so that we did not have to worry about capturing any moments. Jon was also our DJ. Any requests he was happy to queue it up on the spot. Long story just a bit longer, we had privacy, romance and quiet. Just what we hoped for. This was our BEST day, by far, on this 8 day vacation to Puerto Rico. And I’ve been here many times. It was my fiancées first time to the island. She didn’t want this day to end. This was worth every penny for the level of service and the quality of the experience. Either on Viator or direct with Escape To Paradise…..do not hesitate. BOOK IT!! And, remember, Jon and Kathy work so hard to make your day special. They are outstanding humans that just want you to have the time of your life. Be gracious to them and consider offering them a little extra thank you at the end of your day. Peace and love.

This excursion was the highlight of our trip. There was some initial confusion about where to actually meet at first, but that was remedied quickly. Everything was taken care of for us, and we enjoyed the personal touch that we might not have had if we had booked one of the large group charters instead. What a great day on the water. Capitano Yamil and First mate John (aka Rob) were fantastic hosts. Excellent conversation with them and they were upmost professionals. I will highly recommend this private trip as it’s always great to have your own personal experience opposed to a drunken run cruise with a bunch of people you don’t know. Snorkeling was fun and we were fortunate to have clear waters and lots of various fish to view on the reef. Icacos island was, in my opinion, better than Palominos because it’s very relaxing there. So I highly recommend as my wife and I had a very nice aboard.

Our half day charter was a true highlight of our trip to PR. The boat ride out to Icacos was bumpy due to wind and weather conditions, but the crew took very good care of us and helped make sure we were safe at all times. I highly recommend this charter.

Highlight of Our Vacation

This was one of the highlights to our trip to Puerto Rico. Ocean water was somewhat turbulent as we began our Excursion and so we were on the fence as to what to expect. Our guides stopped the boat at one point and asked us if we wanted to continue or head back to shore and receive a refund. We appreciated that but decided to plow forward. we only went to one of the islands due to those choppy Waters. But once we arrived it was like a postcard. Pristine sand, water so clear it was like a swimming pool. Our hosts were at our beck and call for anything we wanted for hours. Expect that there will be other excursions that arrive while you are there but the vibe is fantastic. Great music everyone just enjoying the perfectness of that spot. We snorkled as well. The reefs were fine enough, but there were not a lot of fish at the time we visited but it was still an enjoyable experience. Know that your host will guide you through the entire snorkeling experience and be in the water with you if you have never done it before and that is a definite value add because not everyone in the family had snorkeled before. I would highly recommend this trip. The only negative worth mentioning, is that I used the comment section, when I booked the excursion, to make mention of a required food exclusion, to the tour operator. The tour operator never received the comment. Our host said that happens sometimes with Viator. As a result we were unable to eat the food. But this could be worse if traveling with someone with disabilities or small children or something. So be cautious and contact the operator directly versus through the Viator comment section
