What To Expect

Zip around Old San Juan by Segway as you explore its top attractions on this 2-hour small-group tour. Take in incredible views of San Juan Bay, Castillo San Felipe del Morro and San Cristobal Fort, among others, as you learn the fascinating history of this 500-year-old settlement first started by the Spanish Empire.

Meet your group at Pier 2 in Old San Juan, the tour’s departure point. Your meeting time will vary depending on the tour option you select, leaving at either 10am, 1pm or 4pm. First grab your helmet and get a safety lesson on using the two-wheeled Segway from your guide, and take some time to get familiar with starting and stopping. From there you’re ready to roll, heading out into the streets of this picturesque colonial district.

Move along the area’s cobblestone streets and colorful facades, stopping for photos and for a military history lesson from your guide. Soon you’ll reach Darsenas Square, which provides panoramic views of modern San Juan and its bay, and then see the remains of the San Juan Gate, where you'll hear about the crucial role the city’s harbor once played in maritime defense.

Continue your ride along the hilly streets, stopping to admire the imposing walls of La Muralla, a 3-mile (5 km) long and 140-foot (43 m) high barrier that once served as the linchpin of Old San Juan’s military defenses.

Your tour then moves past some additional monuments, including the Cathedral of San Juan Bautista, site of the remains of famous Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon, who searched for the Fountain of Youth, as well as the Ballaja infantry barracks and the cannon battery of La Perla, which was eventually turned into a slaughterhouse. After a few more attraction stops, your tour finishes back at the departure point.

See the full list of tour stops on the itinerary below.

The big scale pulled out

Great experience, best way to get to know Old San Juan!
Pia_L, May 2023
Jose, our guide, was fantastic! The Segways we originally planned to ride were too tricky for me, so Jose offered a switch to the motorized scooter, and the tour itself was informative and eye-opening… sign up for your own experience, you won’t regret it!
Great way to see San Juan
Akiba_R, May 2023
This is such a nice way to see San Juan. My daughter (15) and I were the only two on the tour which made it more personal. Our guide was very knowledgeable and nice. He taught us how to use the Segways before the tour and to my surprise it was easy. I only wish we could have stopped for a drink of water or juice and then continued on the tour. I would definitely recommend this tour especially for cruisers because it’s located right by the cruise ship. I came in on Carnival’s Celebration, took a left outside the pier and walked maybe 2 minutes down to the building on the left. You have to walk down a few steps and it’s in the back. If you pass subway you have gone too far. I posted my photo in cruise groups and received a lot of questions…I hope he gets more business.

Jose is wonderful and tells you all the history of Old San Juan. The scooters were easy to ride for a first timer, they go fast if you are looking for a speed adventure, it was fast paced, enjoyable, Old San Juan is beautiful and it was a great way to see the historic city. Thank you Jose for an amazing time!
Great Historical Segway Tour of PR
Leticia_A, Mar 2023
This segway tour is more about the history of PR versus the segway ride & beach views. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the history, impact to the island and the people of PR, including the purpose of many monuments of Old San Juan. He gave us time to adjust to the segways before we left, great safety briefing and practice included. This is definitely a great way to get a quick overview of the area and ask any questions about the PR's history.
San Juan fun!
D_O, Mar 2023
our tour guide was very informative and very serious about safety which I appreciated. I took the tour with my son who is 12 and we both had a blast, it was longer than expected, which was a benefit that matched the price of the tour! I would definitely recommend it to someone wanting to explore the history of Puerto Rico in a cool way.
Young’s take old San Juan!!!!
Nakisha_Y, Feb 2023
We had a blast!!! Our guide was very informative and patient. I would recommend booking this tour if you would like to hear and see history of old San Juan. P.s. I kept getting an error message when I tried to upload pictures 😔.
Beautiful City!

Was a great way to see Old Town and to get the layout of sights we walked to afterwards. Beautiful city!
Old San Juan Historical Segway
Sonia_R, Jan 2023
When travel I like to learn about the history and culture of my destination. Jose was very knowledgeable of the history and culture of Puerto Rico, excellent trainer for the Segway. Especially, those who never road one before. We toured old San Juan, most importantly historic buildings. Jose encouraged us to go back and visit the Rl Morro Museum, I’m glad I took his advice. It was an amazing experience. Thank you Jose! Sonia

Three adult family members very much enjoyed the tour. The guide was extremely knowledgeable about the history of old San Juan, and was quite interesting. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone. Separate note on the tour itself (also provided in an email): All went well with the tour; very knowledgeable and experienced guide. I am following the advice of the guide and respectfully requesting a partial refund. 4 of us signed up for the tour, but only 3 could participate, as 1 in our party developed blood pressure issues that morning, and could not participate on the tour. Would appreciate a refund for one of the four riders if you would be so kind. Thanks for your consideration; contact info below: William C. We have never been on a Segway before. After 20 min of training, off we went. Just like pros. Very easy to get the feel. This is a great way to see Old San Juan. Would never have seen the places we went to and Jose did a great job on all the history. Highly recommended.
Happy husband …. Didn’t have to walk 😝

History on a Segway
Sumaiya_K, Aug 2022
This was my second time doing the tour. I did it last year and it was wonderful. So I did it again this year. We didn't do some of thr things we did last time with the tour guide. I can't remember if it was the same tour guide. I felt the history was more interesting last time, with a lot more facts, and not as much this time. Regardless, it was still interesting and the Segway itself was fun. I definitely recommend just for the segway experience.

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable of the history of Old SanJuan, SanJuan, & things in general. He even recommended a place for lunch that was our best lunch meal. I could not imagine walking that tour. The Segway was just the right vehicle.
Decent tour.
Dorothea_H, Jul 2022
Our 1st time riding a Segway but the instruction and practice was adequate. I had an problem getting off when we stopped. Seemed like Jose was a little exasperated that I was having issues. Overall, he was knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Our 2 hour tour started at 1 and ended at 2:25. Not sure if the tour always last 1.5 hours or was ours cut short for reasons unknown.
Not a good excursion for first-time Segway riders
Karen_C, May 2022
There were 4 people in my party with varying degrees of experience riding a Segway. This excursion is not good for first timers. The description should warn riders that the path includes steep hills that they must hold while allowing cars to pass. The guide was using ramps to simulate during the orientation and quickly lost patience with the two who were struggling to hold this makeshift hill. Without any warning or discussion he dismissed two of us who he thought couldn't do it and was ready to proceed with the other two who frankly were uncomfortable with the "test." I am planning to request a refund as none of us was interested in going after this ordeal.

This tour requires core control and good leg shape. The training session is our tool to assess if participants are physically able to complete the experience safely. Choosing activities according to physical ability is responsibility of the customer. Please don’t book this tour if your balance is compromised or if your legs are fragile due to surgery. This was my first time on a Segway. It was a great experience! Jose was very knowledgeable! Best way to explore Old San Juan.
Fun and informative
Melissa_T, Apr 2022
We had a lot of fun on this tour! Our guide was very thorough in teaching us how to operate the Segways. He made sure the helmets and Segways were clean and disinfected. Once everyone had the basics down we were off. We were treated to a very thorough and informative tour of old San Juan. Would definitely do it again. A few bits of advice: old San Juan streets are super bumpy! I have joint pain and OW! Also, if you're like me and *ahem* gifted in the chest area, wear a good supportive chest supportive device. Support is the key word here!
