Fun Experience
Andrea_T, Sep 2023
The entire excursion was great! Our guide Wienner and his partner were wonderful and very attentive.
Drunk and Aggressive Tour Guy
Andras_K, Sep 2023
They don’t have enough buggy’s so they force people’s to be on a quad bike The tour guy was drunk and disrespectful with women’s front of kids His name was Dave and this is the Rex Buggy Company
Response from Host, Sep 2023
Dear Customer, We apologize, this person has had an inappropriate attitude. This guide was already fired from the company. Regarding the change of Buggies for ATVs, it is not allowed to change the same client, we still apologize. We appreciate his valuable comment, thank you very much..
Honest review (long read but important)
Nicole_L, Sep 2023
I wanted to take some time to provide a very honest review. The excursion was fun and to me and my husband just enough time on the buggy’s (of course due to the heavy rain we experience day of.) However there were parts of the journey that were unsafe and/or just not completed properly like I have experienced in other buggy/ATV/4-wheeler excursions we’ve taken. First, the seatbelt on the driver side to my buggy was broken, I asked 2 times if we can change buggy’s as a safety precaution. I was informed there were no other buggy’s I can switch to so instead they just tied a knot on the seat belt so I could be strapped in… this goes to say 85% of the buggy’s are old and need tune ups (including the wheels that look to be completely peeled with no ridges.) Second, the steering wheel was extremely loose. It was almost as I had to turn the entire wheel 360 to get the buggy to turn left/right. This was tricky at first but would have been helpful if we were provided instructions by the crew on how to use their equipment. Instead we were just seated and told to get ready to leave nothing else. Lastly, on the way back from the excursion we were the last buggy on the trail and our steering wheel locked out of no where and the crew that normally stays behind the guest to ensure everyone stays together was well ahead of us. So we tried yelling to let them know we’re stuck but they were too far off to notice. We stood there for about 10-15 minutes trying to contact anyone and let them know we were stuck due to the steering wheel. Finally someone came and assisted and saw the wheel was locked and had us change buggy’s, that buggy was much worse! We ended up stopping again and switching to a 4 wheeler. We caught up with the rest of the guest and finally made it back. The head instructor John asked us if we were okay and or injured. We informed him we’re okay and went on. At the end of it all we were asked to leave a review if we wanted. To which of course I did not want to in the moment as we were upset about part (not all) of the experience. Now for the good, the length of the buggy rides were very typical to any other excursions that I’ve taken in many other countries. The best stop on our trip was the beach for sure. Although it was a little foggy because of the rain that just past. It was well worth being there and the water and beach was absolutely beautiful. The cave was very small (not like advertised in company’s post) and due to the heavy rain it was very dark with dirty water. I’m sure on nice sunny days it would look nicer. The people at each stop were for sure pushy in to you purchasing items from their shops but like John (head instructor) advise just tell them NO as items are over priced. If they don’t listen simply ignore and move on. They’ll get the hint from there. The coffee/cacao stop was informative but again products are super overpriced (I ended up purchasing the coconut oil and cacao powder in the airport for $5-7 dollars cheaper) and contained more product. So save your money and get it at duty free. The only item that was not sold at the airport was Mamawana (liqueur) that seems to be a local drink. It was pretty good so would recommend if you want it to purchase at the location (we missed out on this.) Over all, John was very nice, kept us entertained and checked in on everyone at every stop. Just wish his other colleagues/assistance were the same and assisted throughout the excursion. I also hope they tune up/fix/repair the buggy’s for their customer safety.

We are super grateful for this important comment that will really help us a lot to change the things that are really not right. We have spoken with the company that is temporarily offering us this service and we have taken some machines with mechanical defects out of circulation. Thank you very much, this comment really puts us on alert to provide better services during the tour. We apologize for the inconvenience caused.
Great experience
Katy_B, Sep 2023
Our tour guide was fantastic and the experience as a whole was amazing, cenote was beautiful and Macao beach was lovely, the dune buggies themselves where great and we really enjoyed them you got plenty of time on them and the health and safety was really thorough at the start, we were able to both take turns at driving and the photographer got some fantastic photos, but I will say we were ripped off when we went to the coffee and chocolate tasting we had a look around and picked up 3 items, when we went to pay for them it came too $110 we had $70 cash and asked if we could pay the rest card but unfortunately our banks would not allow the transaction so we put 1 item back but didn’t receive any change resulting in us paying $70 for 2 small fridge magnets not receipt was given so it was there word against ours.

John was an excellent tour guide, however I think the overall tour is too short. You only have about 20 minutes at each location. I’d rather spend more time at the locations then driving around in the buggy. You can’t ride fast in the buggy’s or pass anyone as you’re driving on main roads. It’s more of a family friendly activity than thrilling.

OK at Best
Brady_F, Aug 2023
This excursion was OK at best. The vehicles used were old and tired. The guide we had was disinterested in his job and at one point argued on a tour stop with a vendor who was informing the group of some Dominican history and goods. The pickup from hotel and drive to venue took an hour and twenty minutes— a little long, but the return trip went much quicker when they appropriately arranged trucks by hotel locations.
Dune buggie excursion
mathew_v, Aug 2023
Winner was an amazing tour guide! Gives you plenty of time at each stop. He also keeps you away from the vendors at the beach which can get very pushy and warns you about their tactics. He also knows which places to go to first when they will be less busy! Overall great experience and would do it again!
Thumbs up with lots of Adventure!
Lupe_V, Aug 2023
Great time for all ages. Great photos and would do it again anytime. Our tour guide John was top notch highly recommend him.
Not worth it
jjs3408, Aug 2023
The dune buggy kept dying out, the the brake line was leaking, ultimately we had to use an ATV. I didn't want to use that, I wanted the dune buggy. I'm going to request a refund!
Response from Host, Aug 2023
We apologize for the inconvenience. We only suggest a change from a buggy to an ATV when we see that the buggy is completely not working properly, and we do this in order to ensure customer safety.
Service par excellence

Dune buggy ride between product sales
Steve_c, Aug 2023
The guys who were pushing the sales of the overpriced products for extra profits are too pushy. The buggy ride would have been better if they did all produce sales at the end.
Great experience
Danielle_J, Aug 2023
Our tour guide was very nice as well as the locals. We were unable to complete the trip because my friend got sick … but everyone was so nice and helpful ! I will warn that the local shops near the cenote a ridiculously priced. 2 bracelets my friend bought on the shopping tour we went on the prior day for $4 each. The guy wanted $10 each for them. So be careful!
Had so much fun

You get dirty
kacee_c, Aug 2023
There’s a lot of pan handling especially with kids can be annoying and pushy but we did give money to the children tour seemed rushed because it didn’t start on time and it seemed like everyone just wanted us to spend money and Upcharges us at every stop yu get super muddy so wear old stuff they charge 60$ to e-mail the pictures smh other places I’ve done send them for free
Response from Host, Aug 2023
Hi Kacee. If there is rainwater on the ground, then, of course, you will get dirty because of the mud puddles that form when the water hits the ground. You are told to put old clothes on in your reservation voucher for this particular reason. Why would that surprise you? Honestly, it is what a lot of people look forward to when going out on buggy tours. Just like I inform all of my travelers when they go out on tour with me, the locals like to sell souvenirs, fresh coconuts, and other drinks along the way. But none of our customers are forced to buy anything. Just telling them ´´No´´, is enough for them to leave you alone. Another important aspect about tours that all travelers should understand is that in no tour are the pictures free. On perhaps 99% of the tours that are done in Punta Cana, if pictures are taken, then they will be available for purchase. The prices may variate, but this is a common fact as to how tours are conducted here in Punta Cana and the same in most places around the world. The prices may variate, but this is a common general fact as to how tours are conducted in Punta Cana and the same occurs in many of the other tour destinations across the world. We appreciate you coming. Thank you for your review.
