- Please note, our tour operates in harmony with the weather, adjusting its schedule as needed to guarantee the most enriching and enjoyable experience possible.
- Please be advised that the Fagradalsfjall Volcano is not currently active. The presence of glowing lava is dependent on volcanic activity and should not be expected during the time of your private tour. Despite this, the volcano's grandeur and the surrounding landscape provide a unique and breathtaking experience.
- If an eruption occurs on the same area booked during your visit to Iceland, we extend an invitation for a complimentary repeat of the tour. In such a case, we may arrange a spontaneous departure, potentially including a few other enthusiasts.
Cancellation Policy
You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.
- For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
- If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
- Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
- Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
- This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

Amazing Experience - Highly Recommended

Our guide, Haffi, lives in the town at the base of the lava fields from the last three eruptions and knows the area extremely well. He was early for the pick up at our hotel and along the way, explained different hikes we could take based on our fitness level as well as the history of the area and the historic and recent eruptions.
We took the more strenuous because it offered the closest proximity to the lava field, which was from the 2021 eruption, but still steaming in parts and similar to a black desert/moonscape. Round trip the hike was a little over 5 miles, very steep and loose rocks/gravel over portions, good hiking shoes are needed.
Well worth the effort, an incredibly unique experience, with an excellent guide. Money well spent. There is no way we would have had the same experience climbing the volcano on our own. On the way back to Reykjavilk, we stopped in this geothermal field that is a regional or national park. Various bubbling pots of boiling water and stream raising from the ground just off the fairly long boardwalk. Super cool, but no railings so be careful with the kids!

Oddi was a knowledgeable tour guide. We took things at our own pace and had an enjoyable hike. The hike was a bit steep for my husband and I, but we were able to take our time. The views were fantastic. Thanks!

We did this tour with 2 families, children ranging from 8-14. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience! Our tour guide Sigrun was extremely knowledgeable and filled the entire 3.5 hour tour with interesting facts, personal stories, and Icelandic history. Highly recommend this!

Absolutely amazing tour! Gudni the tour guide was amazing and full of information, well travelled, and a local! Would 1000% recommend this tour to anyone going to Iceland, got to see lava fields, walk on them, and the history behind Iceland as a country! The owner of the company was also extremely nice!

We loved our tour with Sigrún. She was so friendly, knowledgeable, easy going. She taught us lots about the area and volcanos. We loved her personal touch of bringing hot chocolate for us when we reached the top. It was an awesome hike. Loved her as our guide.

Glad I bought wind breaking clothes

We originally booked this for our parents, as they are older and we thought a guided hike would be more their speed. However, they didn’t end up coming on the trip. Honestly, it was probably for the better that they didn’t do this hike. While our guide was fantastic (and reminded us to slow down and take our time), the hike was challenging due to uneven ground and high winds. It was unreal and unlike any other place I visited. The lava fields were crazy and she did a great job of helping us visualize what it was like when the volcano was erupting. I loved the experience. Could I have done this without a guide? Yes. But I would have missed out on the stories and probably would have missed some landmarks and such. It was guide pricey, but overall I’m glad for the experience.
