What To Expect

Meet your host at Bryggjan Brewery in the heart of Reykjavik’s Old Harbour. For two hours of food and drink that celebrate local culture. Learn about the history of Iceland’s brewing as the host brings Iceland’s past to life, illustrating how locals survived and thrived in the harsh conditions of the far north. Taste a series of traditionally-brewed Icelandic ales along with more modern craft beers.

Try six courses of tapas style small plates, from fish that was caught just steps away from the restaurant to Icelandic lamb that was raised free-range in the northern mountains. Enjoy an informal and friendly atmosphere, with plenty of time to ask questions about eating, drinking and traveling in Iceland.

Meet fellow travelers and foodies, start conversations about Iceland’s current affairs and culture, and get the perfect overview of the Icelandic food scene in one perfect meal. After your meal is over, take time to explore the Old Harbor on your own or with new friends—this colorful, vibrant neighborhood is a wonderful place to browse shops, visit galleries and watch fishing boats come and go.

Bryggjan Brugghús

Our tour is hosted at Bryggjan Brugghús, Please be there no later than 10 minutes before the event starts. Meet your host at 6pm at Bryggjan Brewery (Address: Grandagarður 8, 101 Reykjavík) in the heart of Reykjavik’s Old Harbour. The tasting is informal, but your host will be on hand to walk you through each course, answer questions about eating, drinking and traveling in Iceland. During the tasting you will try at least six different beers and ales, brewed in Iceland. Each beer is paired with a locally sourced Icelandic course served tapas style. Taste fish that was caught the same day from the pier outside the window and lamb that was raised free-range. Savour each bite and sip of the traditional and modern pairings. After your meal is over explore Old Harbour on your own or with new friends from the tour.

Great beer but more food please!

Really good beer and lots of it. Would have given this event 5 stars but the ratio of beer (lots) to food (outstanding and unusual but not enough) was wrong. Thankfully we did not come hungry.

Alex was a great host, explaining many things about the brewing process, beer (and other things) in Iceland. The beer flight was good and the tasting menu very enjoyable.

My wife and I were so pleased with this tour. The brewery owner explained the process of making Beer in Iceland and filled us with great stories about the brewery and Iceland. The beer was awesome. Our taxi driver told us that this is the best Brewery in Iceland, and we agree. The food was awesome also. Highly recommend this tour.

The atmosphere and the host did an incredible job of explaining the brewing process. We then had a tasting of their processed beer along with a few other outside processed beers paired with food which was outstanding!

Loved my experience!!! Delicious small plates (yet filling) with beer pairings and I was closely guided by charming Santino who was so knowledgeable about the tasting, cuisine, his brewery and Iceland itself. Our "tour" was hosted by Santino at Bryggian Bugghus, down by the wharf. The tour involved no walking, just eating and drinking, making it my kind of tour. We were treated to six of their craft brews and six small tastings of Icelandic foods. Our beers included a dubbel, pilsner, lambic, ESB, pale ale and IPA. The pairings included shrimp, mussels, lamb, beef, salmon and ice cream made from one of their beers. YMMV. They serve whichever beers they've brewed most recently and whatever is freshest from the land and sea. We had about 20 people from all over the place on our tour. The tour lasts about 2 hours. Santino is a most amiable host. His explanations in English are clear and understandable, and comprehensive. If I make it back to Reykjavik I will take this tour again. And again.

Excellent beers paired with great dishes. I was misguided in thinking it was a tour when in fact it was just one location for the event. I enjoyed our host and even got a tour of the brewing process! As a tour operator, I would change the name of this experience.

This was great! We had quite a lot of beer and the sizes of the glasses surprised me. The lady who lead it made everyone socialise with each other and me as my partner actually ended up going out with another couple the night after.
