What To Expect

At either your centrally located Reykjavik hotel or the BSI Bus Terminal, you’ll greet your guide and board a climate-controlled vehicle destined for the Mýrdalsjökull glacier. During the drive, a unique tableau of Icelandic landscapes is visible from your window.

Disembark on arrival at the Mýrdalsjökull glacier and listen to a detailed snowmobile safety briefing. All protective equipment and clothing is provided to ensure you feel safe and secure at all times. Please note, snowmobiles can accommodate two people.

Once you feel confident, follow your guide to the summit of the glacier, from which you’ll enjoy panoramic vistas of south Iceland on a clear day. After ample time enjoying the views, return to your vehicle and proceed to the Skógar Folk Museum to delve into Iceland’s rich cultural history.

See, too, the Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls — two of Iceland’s most photographed natural landmarks — before concluding your tour at your original pickup point in Reykjavík.

  • A valid driver's licence is required for you to drive a snowmobile (passengers can ride without one)
  • 2 people will sit on one snowmobile
  • Children aged 5 years and younger are not permitted on this tour. Only one child is permitted per adult on this tour.
  • Operation of this tour depends on conditions on the glacier, and may be cancelled
  • Due to sudden and unexpected weather changes the snowmobile ride might be cancelled after tour's departure from Reykjavík
  • There is no place where we can stop for lunch on this tour. Therefore you need to bring along a picnic lunch. We recommend to sit down for lunch before the ride and maybe have a light snack afterwards.
  • Not wheelchair accessible

This tour does not exist according to Reykjavik Excursions. We arrived and were rudely informed this tour does not exist. It was a stressful experience since they stated the day before they would not pick us up at our hotel even though during the booking over the phone we were told they picked up at our hotel. We were then hurriedly placed on another bus to a different snowmobile site. I do not know why Viator still has this as a listing.

God tur men meget mærkelig guide som intet sagde om de steder vi tog hen. Derudover var der alt for kort de ved de vandfald vo besøgte. Det kan bedre betale sig at køre til stederne selv.
