  • Have read, signed, and followed directions on the Snorkeling Silfra Medical Statement Form (www.trollaferdir.is/Medical). You can sign the form at the meeting location.
  • Be comfortable in water and be able to swim.
  • Communicate in English at the time of the tour.
  • Be physically fit.
  • Not be pregnant.
  • You must be ready to wear a tight and constricting dry suit to protect your body from the cold.
  • You must be a minimum of 150 cm and a maximum of 200 cm in height and weigh between 45 and 120 kilos along with being physically fit.
  • - You must be a maximum of 69 years of age to participate in this tour. If you are over 60 years of age, you need a medical waiver, available on page 2 of the Medical Statement.
  • You must be a minimum of 12 years of age to participate in this tour. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian booked on the same tour.
  • If you are over 45 and partake/have partaken in pipe smoking or heavy alcohol intake, you need a medical waiver.
  • Please note that should you have any neurological, circulatory or respiratory problems or underlying diseases, battled any illnesses or have any physical problems you might have to turn in a physicians allowance to participate in this tour.
  • Not recommended for pregnant travelers
  • No heart problems or other serious medical conditions
  • Please contact us regarding pick up. There are some hotels where buses are not allowed to drive. You can find information about designated pick up locations at busstop.is or ask the front desk of your hotel. Pick up from Keflavík airport or outside of the greater capital area is not available.

Golden circle tour and snorkelling

Wow! What can I say! Me and my partner absolutely loved this, was cold but worth it. Such a surreal experience. Transfers was easily sorted and easy to find, our guide Lu was amazing and took lots of photos which she sent to us the same night. The golden circle tour after was such an amazing thing to see you, defo worth doing.

This was a very cool thing to have done, but although the water was very clear there wasn't much to look at in terms of snorkel except for rocks and even with the dry suit it was very cold. Our tour we did the snorkel first so the rest of the day my hair was wet and that made me stay cold. If picking between the 2, I would do a south loop tour, and if I were planning my trip again I might do the golden circle with a different activity instead of snorkel

Loved the snokerling. Anna was our snorkel guide and she was awesome. My daughter wanted to get our because her hands were cold. Turns out water got into the suit. But Anna instructed her so she could keep her hands out of the water and guide her to the end. Anna gave great instructions and overall an awesome guide. This was definitely a bucket list item.

The snorkelling was a definite highlight. It was absolutely stunning underwater even with low cloud above. Very well organised and good fun. The photos were a nice touch as our hands were definitely too cold to use a go pro. The Golden Circle tour afterwards was ok. Liked the geysers, Gulfoss and boiling lake. Would have liked an itinerary at the time of booking. There was a random stop at a farm for ice cream which was ok but would have preferred another sight if possible. I appreciate that the day I went the weather was really bad. The guide was very good, loved the stories and appreciated the good communication.
Great tour but Late driver

Tour was great but the bus driver was late picking up the guests for the tour. This led us to wait for 40 minutes in the drysuits in freezing weather before we could even enter the stairwell to Silfra. Our snorkel guides were AMAZING and I loved the experience, just not the wait caused by tardiness. Wear multiple pairs of socks.

We had a fabulous day on this trip. Just when you think that the waterfall and the stop for the Geysers is as good as it can get. We then had the grand finale snorkeling between the Eurasian and North American plates. Photos taken and supplied by all the tour groups snorkeling that day ensured we have plenty of pictures to look back and remember. Troll expeditions gave us a wonderful first day in Iceland. A day that will live in our memories forever.

Our driver, Oskar, was very friendly and knowledgeable. He shared some interesting facts as we went through the beautiful countryside. Snorkeling is not really in my comfort zone, but I wanted to try to push myself. At one point I totally panicked, but James, our guide, was so calm, kind and patient. He was able to guide me and got me through it! Thank you, James! It was definitely a memorable experience!

This was by far the best tour I did in Iceland, I was originally going to just book the golden circle and then I saw the option to snorkel as well and thought it was too good an opportunity to miss. I was nervous at first, but there were plenty of reviews from people who said they felt at ease once they were in the water and that the guides were professional and also, very good at what they do!, so I went ahead and booked it. Kora (I hope I spelt this right) was our guide for the day, she took us to all the spots around the golden circle and also took us to a beautiful canyon & to feed some Icelandic horses - it was unreal!! She was so kind and answered everyone’s questions :) Anaïs was our guide and she was great, super chill and made sure everyone was comfortable and answered 101 of our questions before we went in. She also took some amazing photos of us, and it’s something I’ll never forget!! Thank you Anaïs & Kora
A Golden Day Trip

We had a great trip and an action packed day. The minibus was very comfortable and we were picked up as agreed. A couple of things had changed with the pickup due to road closures but the company were great with updates and replied quickly. We visited Thingvellir first and had 45 minutes to walk around at leisure or as far as we could. This was a very beautiful location with nice walking trails and spectacular views. Next, we want to the geysers at Strokkur. Again, we had 1h30m here to enjoy the geysers and walk through the park and also have lunch if we wanted to. After this, we were on to the snorkelling at Silfra which was just below Thingvellir that we visited earlier. We were a little ahead of schedule so had a short stop at a small cafe and rest area and also a horse farm which was a bonus. All of these things were a highlight but we were very excited about the snorkelling part of the trip. Thiscwas around 2h30m overall. We met our host Kaisa and had a thorough briefing before our dry suits were selected for us and we were helpfully assisted in putting on. Don't be put off by this - the equipment is superb and the team take time and care to make sure you are comfortable, happy and the suit is fitted well and worn correctly. We were new snorkelling recruits for cold water and in a dry suit but we stayed dry and comfortable throughout. The experience in the water was truly amazing and other worldly in many respects. So many beautiful things to see in the clear and icy blue water in the 45 minutes we were in the water. All too soon, we were leaving the water and heading back to change and for a well earned hot chocolate and chocolate bar after an amazing snorkelling experience. Next, we were back in the bus to Reykjavik and the end of a great day. Our guide was funny and friendly and was able to tell us many interesting facts about Iceland and the areas we were visiting that day. A great trip overall to see many great things in one day and one I would highly recommend.

Best day for the golden circle and snorkeling ! Our tour guide was a little quiet compared to the other ones I had during my stay in Iceland. But he was honest about one thing: when we do the silfra we will not being touch both continental plates like advertised. You do swim in the spot where they have touched and the gap created this beautiful oasis with the rocks and the way the light hits the water. You do have to swim in order to move, the current wasn’t strong enough to push you. My guide Veronica helped tugged me along and calm me down when I got nervous. It was beautiful to look down on and it took about 35 minutes to navigate. They tie you up pretty well to prevent any water to get in. My hair at the bottom was the only thing that got wet.

This was a highlight of our week in Iceland. Snorkeling was such a unique way to experience the Golden Circle and change the pace amidst beautiful hikes. Our guide also offered great recommendations for sites, food, and experiences for the rest of our trip. Highly recommend this!
Must do Snorkeling at Sifra

The driver was driving terribly the whole way, just basically dropped us off at 2 spots and said over there. He was Not a guide, he did not explain anything or help at all. I would give a 5 star to Kevin at Silfra Snorkeling, that was an amazing experience and he was super funny. Super worth while. If it wasn’t for him and all the people at the snorkeling site this tour would have been a 1 star.

Our guide was Thales and he was Awesome - so fun! We made some great stops along the Golden Circle and then finished with an amazing Snorkel Tour between the 2 continents. Was a bit nervous but our snorkel guide, Anna, was Fantastic…. Put me at ease and helped get me started! Our family loved this excursion and would highly recommend

Our guide Carlos was amazing. I would give him 5/5 stars. Funny and a lot of knowledge, easy to like him. Fun to see the geysyr and all the other stops we did. The snorkling itself was a great experience. I will give the trip 3 stars because they did not manage to give us the photos as promised. Also our guide, Kevin, was a little angry from the start, giving us a bad vibe.

Our driver Carlos was excellent. He was very knowledgeable about the area and taught us a lot. He even included a longer hike at the end so we could see another waterfall on the golden circle tour. The snorkeling was led by Kevin, who was also excellent and funny. He made sure everyone was safe and having a good time. I wasn’t sure what to expect but they give you a thermal jumpsuit to put on over your clothes and then the dry suit so you’re completely dry except for hands and head. The water was super cold but the view and experience was totally worth it!

Our guide was so helpful and informative. The snorkelling was so so good, would recommend to anyone doing the Golden Circle tour to do this one with snorkelling included, it made the whole experience. The guides at silfra were super friendly, there is no need to be scared. 100% would do again.

Had an awesome day with Troll Expeditions! The snorkeling was absolutely amazing! Anna was the perfect guide and did a wonderful job setting us up and guiding us through the amazingly clear glacial waters of Silfra. Highly, highly recommend this tour! Afterwards, we did the rest of the Golden Circle and John was a great guide as well. Gulfoss waterfall was stunning and the Geysir area was neat. Also had a fun stop to see the cow farm with ice cream (yay!!) and a brief stop to pet some Icelandic horses. Was a full day but Troll did a great job making it all seamless and fun from the pickup to the dropoff. Wonderul day full of great memories
