What To Expect

Enjoy pickup from the Reykjavik port or hotels in town. Meet your guide and depart for your full-day tour of the Golden Circle's most popular attractions. This tour ensures flexibility and personalized attention; be sure to let your guide know if there are any attractions that interest you specifically. 

On the way out of Reykjavik, take Nesjavellir Road and stop in the Nesavellir geothermal region. The volcano here makes the area the warmest in the capital. Continue to Þhingvellir National Park, which includes the fault line between the American and Eurasian tectonic plates. The park is also home to the world's oldest democratic parliament and an ancient church. 

Drive through the town of Laugarvatn on the way to visit the Strokkur geyser, which erupts every 6 to 8 minutes. Here, take a break for lunch or coffee (own expense) before proceeding to see the lovely waterfall called Gullfoss. 

Stop at the Kerið crater, then visit the town of Hveragerði before continuing down to the Reykanes peninsula. Bring your swim suit for the visit to the famous Blue Lagoon, located near Grindavík. Take a dip in the bright blue geothermal waters, set against a dramatic backdrop of lava. Slather on some geothermal mud, rich in silica and minerals, to end your tour with a healthy glow. 

Optional: a visit to Hafnarfjörður (additional price). 

Your tour ends back in Reykjavik with hotel or port drop-off.

Thingvellir National Park

Place where tectonic plates meets in national park. As well is Þingvellir historical for Icelandic nation with oldest democratic park in planet. Þingvellir is protected by UNESCO.

You cannot predict the weather in Iceland. Andres tried his best to reschedule and our family enjoy the trip very much. We have an unforgettable evening at Blue Lagoon.

Brilliant experience, a must as part of your Iceland tour

We went on the golden circle tour with mercury Grail, our guide Andres was brilliant. We took a private tour, and got to see all beautiful landmarks that make up the golden circle. Andres was very knowledgeable about the history and the sites we visited. He went above and beyond to accommodate us and was polite and helpful throughout our tour. Very highly recommend this tour.

André was a most knowledgeable and wonderfully helpful guide. We had a great time. Even though the weather was not that great. This guide did all he could to make our day worthwhile. It was a terrible cold and rainy day. André took a step further to ensure we were kept out of the rain as much as possible and still see the promised sights of golden circle and blue lagoon. He even bought tickets upfront in good faith. Which we reimbursed only when we met. We certainly would recommend this informative and very helful chap to any day trippers going into Reykjavik.

This was a comprehensive tour of most of the 'best of' and our guide was very accommodating. Just be aware that it's alot of driving and while the scenery is amazing, there's quite a bit of down time as you get from one location to another.

Worst tour I've ever experienced in my many years of travel. This was a personal tour - just my husband, myself, and our tour guide. Too bade they sent a guide that spoke about 12 words of English. This was 12 hours of uncomfortable attempts to communicate. We learned nothing of the local sights or culture. A cab drive that knew some English would have been better. As tour guy , Mr.Andrés was a fantastic person , he did everything to make our tour enjoyable. He extended his time to show us more and more places and also allowed us the time needed on each place.He even called us at 10h30 PM to watch the northern lights outside of our hotel, we were very appreciated for his nice thought.
