Meeting And Pickup

Meeting point

  • Ingólfur Square
    Austurstræti 4 101, 101 Reykjavík, Iceland

We meet up at Ingolfstorg Square in the center of Reykjavik by the two stone high seat pillars (Over 2 meters high), The square is at the beginning of Austurstræti (Austurstræti 1) and is squared off by the streets Aðalstræti, Hafnarstræti, Veltusund, and Vallarstræti. If you walk down Laugavegur (The main shopping street) please just continue all the way down until you come to the square always walking straight down until you can't continue further. On the Ingolfur square itself, you can see Kvosin a small grocery market and finally Center Hotel Plaza. We recommend for people to use Google Maps or something similiar because the Icelandic street names can be tricky :).

End point

This activity ends back at the meeting point.

Brilliant, excellent value for money

We had a fantastic tour guide Urrhu, a very knowledgable lady very enthusiastic. The food was a great introduction to Iceland would recommend this at the beginning of the holiday to kick things off.
Fantastic and well worth the money

We had an incredible time, we didn’t know what to expect from this tour but it is well worth the money. We didn’t get our tour guides name but he was great and very informative, we found out a lot of the history of Iceland as well as eating some amazing food! This is definitely a must if you’re planning to visit Iceland!
Great walking tour of Reykjavík with the bonus of trying great new foods!
Meghan_K, Mar 2023
A wonderful tour that included a plethora of things we would have never tried on our own while also learning about the history of Reykjavík and Iceland from our wonderful guide Stephan! Love that Your Friend in Reykjavík keeps the tours small so you get a more personalized experience and get to know your tour guide more. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a walking city tour with the addition of getting to try some fantastic local cuisine!
Very disappointing - mediocre food, lackluster guide
Dean_P, Mar 2023
Very disappointing. Should have been called the "hole in the wall" food tour. For the price, at least one nice restaurant with a little ambiance would have been nice. Food was mediocre at best, and very small portions. By far the worst fish soup I had so far in Iceland. Description said it included beverages but all we got was water and one shot at the end. Guide provided information that was factually incorrect, and generally condescending. Definitely not worth the money. This was our 5th day in Iceland, and almost everywhere else that we ate was better.
Great experience!

Lovely small group of 9. Met Bardi ,our guide. He was great. Very informative, not just about the food we were sampling, but also local history. It made the evening! Food was tasty and gives you a little dip into Icelandic culture. I would definitely recommend.
Great orientation to Iceland

A great way to spend our first day in Iceland. The tour gives you a overview of both Icelandic food and the city of Reykjavík. Hlif did a fantastic job of telling us about the food and the city. Very fun, and family friendly too. We even met a few local shop cats and got some souvenir tips.
A good way to start a holiday in Iceland

Our guide, Hlif, was so knowledgeable and engaging that the time just flew by, and we also learnt so much about the history, people and food of Iceland from her. We loved trying all of the various foods and it was also really interesting visiting each of the venues which were all very different. We also enjoyed the company of our fellow travellers
Do this food tour! So great

I had a great time meeting people from other parts of the world while learning about and experiencing Iceland.
Very enjoyable
David_H, Jan 2023
It was a very snowy, windy day for our tour. Normally we could get a taxi within about 10 mins. But, because of the weather, it was going to be at least 30-40 mins. So, we decided to walk (run) to our meeting spot. We had the hotel contact the tour company to let them know we were on our way, but might be 5-10 mins late. Our guide waited for us! We were so happy to not miss the tour. Our guide was great! Lots of Iceland info and stories. The food was also surprisingly good (except for the pickled shark - I couldn't get past the smell). But, overall, it was a great time.
Great

The guide was wonderful and really informative, and the fermented shark was grim, but an experience not to be missed.
