What To Expect

Start with a hotel pickup and then travel into downtown Reykjavik by coach for your city tour. The route takes in places of historical interest as well as some of the modern and quirky sights around the city.

Stop at Bessastadir, the stately residence of Iceland’s president, and then continue to Hofdi House where the historic 1986 summit took place between Ronald Regan and Mikhail Gorbachev. Have your camera ready for the futuristic Perlan restaurant, which is built on tanks containing the city’s hot water supply, and admire Hallgrimskirkja, a Lutheran church that’s one of the country’s tallest buildings.

Other highlights include the geothermal Laugardalur pool with its Sveinsson-designed sculptures, and the nearby harbor town of Hafnarfjordur, home to a mythical community of ‘hidden folk.’

When your morning city tour ends, head out on your express Gullfoss and Geysir excursion that handily takes in Thingvellir, too. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site and learn about its ancient parliament that was established there many centuries ago. The spot is also home to the intersection of the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates, and your guide will explain the area’s unique geology.

Continue to the thundering waters of Gullfoss, one of Iceland’s most impressive falls, and then on to the bubbling hot springs of Strokkur and Geysir.

Your tour then ends with a hotel drop-off back in Reykjavik.

Good tour

This is really two tours. The first tour of the city gave a very good overview of Reykjavík. The second tour, the golden circle, gave his good a introduction to the interior of the island Enjoyed both tours and would recommend the tour.

Do not book this tour - maybe just stick with the Golden Circle and bypass the Reykjavik part completely. I thought this would give me a basiv overview of the city so that I could then go exploring on my own. We actually just sat on a bus for several hours while a couple of things were pointed out to us. At one stage the coach driver attempted to drive into/past an underground carpark with a height limit ...... that was less than the bus height. Much crunching and scraping later we managed to reverse out again ! Then there was an hour stopover at the bus station in between these 2 tours - which wasn't all bad as the food was good - but not somewhere I want to spend my holiday. Tour of the Golden Circle was better - I would recommend this part only. This was also ruined by the fact that we arrived back into Reykjavik in a blizzard. The coach was going to drop us off as near to our hotels as possible ....... unfortunately the tour guide got increasingly vague about which hotels were at which stops and then just announced this was the stop for all mid-town hotels. Seeing as I had just arrived I had no idea if this included me or not. Therefore I eventually left the bus with a vague wave of the hand from the guide that you hotel is in 'that direction'. With the bad weather this didn't make the wandering around for 20 mins trying to find the hotel easy. Was not a great end to the very long day !

Lovely tour, cheerful guide and refreshing experience. This is the safest place in the world. We actual stood in front of the president's home. No security just the welcoming coastal waters welcoming you. Amazing!

It was a very informative tour of Reykjavik and attractions around the area. I found it to be very good for a our short stay in Iceland and it gives you a good impression of the main attractions of the city and its surroundings.

This tour was fantastic and you get to see the main tourist hotspots in one go. It is a long day with lots of time on the coach but there is so much to see that it isn't boring and the stops make it well worth the trip. Would definitely recommend.

Despite doing this trip in the middle of winter it was well worth doing and a wonderful way of seeing the landscape outside of Reykjavik. The guide and driver were excellent and very informative. Would highly recommend

We got a great feel for 2 different areas all in one day. Combining both for same day was perfect for our time frame.

Tour exceeded our expectations. The people of Iceland are extremely gracious hosts and are willing to share their history, culture, personal opionions. In fact the locals have convinced me that elves exist! The true measure of a successful tour is whether one will spend the time and money to return and invest in other Viator tours of Iceland. I will. A travelor of 100+ countries.

Guide was lackluster, no enthusiasm to keep bus load engaged. Guide could gave shard stories of Iceland, Viking days, volcano names or general information. Disappointed. Cab home we learned more about Iceland in 15mins than we did in six hour tour. Sites themselves were spectacularly amazing.

This was a great way to see parts of Iceland. The your is broken up in that the iTunes tour is on a separate bus and does allow for at least 1.5 hours to go get lunch before the second half of the tour gets started.

This was an interesting and informative trip. The guide John was great and driver brilliant. We had a good amount of stops for picture. The waterfalls were spectacular, so powerful and the geysirs displayed for us every few minutes, superb, such a spectacle to see. Also saw a dead volcano, amazing to stand at the top and look into the crater. Well worth the trips but especially the waterfalls and geysirs. As a bonus we were shown one of the thermal plants, so powerful the ground trembles as you stand there.

I was required to be ready a half hour before scheduled pick up time but they were 15 minutes late. City guide was good. Golden Circle guide had poor English skills and little information about Iceland. There was interesting things to see but poor leadership.

We were glad we took this trip. In winter, because of the limited daylight, it was probably best to do both the city and the out of town tours together. Our guide was great and made our day! Had a good handle on historical and present day Iceland. Would highly recommend this one!

This was excellent. In the morning we were the only two on the tour and had our own personal guide. The guides are very good and speak perfect English. The company is very well organised and we were picked up at our hotel on time and dropped off again afterwards. The tour itself was very interesting and informative.

A really good trip to help us get our bearings, make sure we didn't miss any of the main things there are to see. We could then wander on a different day and see other things in our own time. Gulfoss and the geysirs were magnificent. The guide was also very good.
