Overview

Cruise Faxaflói Bay in a rigid inflatable boat (RIB) on a 2-hour, small-group whale-watching expedition from Reykjavik. Board a speedy RIB at the Old Harbor, and skim alongside graceful seabirds as you pass seasonal puffin colonies. This was truly one of the highlights of our recent trip to Iceland. We were lucky enough to be taken out by Megan, a marine biologist, on our trip and she spotted the whale from afar which led to the most amazing 30 minutes ever! We were the only boat in the vacinity for 30 minutes so had the Whale to ourselves. We saw it Tale Slapping, diving, the mist from the blowhole.....everything! The Whale was quickly joined by a small pod of Dolphins so we were really spoiled.......Cannot recommend this trip enough!

I go whale watching all the time, but after this trip I only want to go on a small boat! Fun, friendly and safe. You can't ask for a better experience. We saw whales and dolphins and got great photos. Highly recommend.

Great tour! Our guide was excellent and very knowledgeable about the marine life. We saw lots of puffins and a few whales. Just a heads up - the boat ride is intense, especially when the water is choppy. I loved it but might not be for everyone!

It's a really great change to get up close to whales. The boat ride itself is fun and the tour guides were very knowledgeable marine biologists. Followed a couple of different whales with multiple sightings over a two hour period

Fransisco was an excellent and knowledgeable guide (marine biologist) and gave us some great information about the Whales we spotted, as well as detailed information about the protected puffins. We were on the small RIB boats and were able to get very close to 5 different humpback whales, including a couple that were travelling together. The company was gave us all of the clothing necessary to keep us warm and dry and were extremely helpful. (More detailed directions about where they were located and where to park would have been very helpful). Would highly recommend.

I really cannot fault this experience! We were lucky enough to see porpoise, white beaked dolphins and humpbacks (and of course lots of birds), but even if we hadn't seen any cetaceans, the boat trip itself was fun enough and the views looking back onto the mainland were just beautiful (we got really lucky with the weather too). Before even getting suited up in the overalls the staff were extremely friendly and approachable and while out on the water both the captain and our guide were very knowledgeable and again super friendly. I unfortunately can't remember our guide's name but joyeux anniversaire (pour samedi) et merci beaucoup! I received this outing as a present but it is definitely worth the money, I would certainly pay it myself to do it again. It really was the highlight of my 4 night stay in Reykjavik

Great experience. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The boat ride was very fun and the overalls provided were brilliant. We saw a few humpbacks and some puffins. Would use Whale Safari again.

0/10 for whales, but 10/10 for fun experience. We hit some pretty big waves on the way back, so it was like a water rollercoaster 😂 No whales, unfortunately but we got pretty close to some puffins and other birds. And we got a voucher to try again to see whales (which I did. And I did 😉 )
An Absolute MUST When in Iceland

We were fortunate enough to see a load of Puffins, two Mink whales, a very playful pod of dolphins and a whisper of a porpoise fin on our trip. But even if these elusive creatures had not graced us with their presence, the boat ride itself was worth the money. SOOOO fun! And both the captain and the guide (Louisa) was very enthusiastic and knowlegdeable about the wild life at sea. This is recommened for all ages. Low activity level, high excitement level! Wear a scarf and a hat, even if it’s a warm day. The ocean wind is cold!
