What To Expect

After selecting a departure time, make your own way to Iceland's UNESCO-listed Thingvellir National Park and greet your guide at the information office.

Here, receive all the equipment necessary for snorkeling, including dry suits to wear over your clothes, and receive a thorough safety briefing from your PADI-certified instructor.

Once you feel ready to plunge into the turquoise waters surrounding the Silfra Fissure, don your snorkel and swim in the crystal-clear water. Gaze to the bottom of the 82-foot (24-meter) ravine, which bridges the gap between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.

Throughout your snorkeling experience, receive personalized attention in a small group of 10. Conclude at your original departure point in Thingvellir National Park.

Additional Info

Confirmation will be received at time of booking, unless booked within 2 days of travel. In this case confirmation will be received within 48 hours, subject to availability
Remember to bring: Warm base layers, preferably made from fleece or wool (not cotton), warm woolen socks, a small towel and a change of clothes (just in case)
Not wheelchair accessible
You will be provided with dry suits to wear over your clothing while snorkeling
Please note that all participants must be able to swim to be able to participate in the tour
Not recommended for pregnant travelers
No heart problems or other serious medical conditions

Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level

This is a small group tour limited to 6 participants per guide for a more persona experience.
Minimum age is 12 years old. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian booked on the same tour.

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.

Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

We absolutely loved our snorkeling experience. The water wasn’t even very cold with the dry suits on which was awesome. The whole family loved snorkeling and we were so glad we went! Our guide, Christian was amazing too!

NOT THE BEST TOUR EXPERIENCE

If I could give this trip a negative star I would think about it. The equipment they used was old and beat. The tour guide was a bit surly. I didn’t think he had good accountability of the group the whole time sand could have probably used a little help.The experience was good. Very scenic, but I wish I had booked another operator. Let me give you one small example… bugs were terrible. Other tour operators let their guests use net hats to keep bugs off their faces. Our operator had his own net hat but he didn’t have any for the tour members to use and we were miserable. He may have tried hard but was a bit gruff. Not exactly Mr personality….it was kind of sad because I use Viator a frequently, usually with good results.

Crystal clear water with astounding view of the fissure and tectonic plates. Current moves you along, allowing you to focus on the views. Dimitri was an awesome guide and photographer. He not only has a great sense of humor, but was also calm and helpful me when I panicked. It is an effort to get in and out of the equipment. Just take your time and follow instructions.

Not until I landed in Iceland and read my three page voucher, that I realized my husband was over the weight limit. I wish this had been clearly stated. When I called to ask about his weight I was told I should have read the statement. I AGREE I just wish someone would have mentioned this @ the time of booking over the phone. The web sight does not lead with these requirements

After having the jitters prior to commencing the snorkelling, our guide made sure I was at the front and close to him at all times. After the initial shock of the cold water on our face and hands we gently proceeded through the silfra , the nerves passed and I can only describe this experience as unique in every way. Well worth it, no regrets what an experience.

C’était top, c’est Alizé qui nous a guidé, elle est adorable et très pro. Bref une belle aventure que je recommande à tout les touristes. J’avais une appréhension avec les 2 degrés de l’eau mais avec la combi sèche on ne sent pas le froid, sauf sur la bouche qui est le seul contact avec l’eau.

Lo contratamos como una experiencia d e grupo pequeño Cuando llegamos habíamos al menos 12-14 personas para tres monitores lo que implicó al menos hora y media para colocarnos trajes y prepararnos a todos Pero aún peor fue que al llegar al lugar d e inmersión había una cola formada por los otros grupos al menos seis grupos más y esperamos casi otra hora para la inmersión Finalmente dos horas y media de preparación para media hora d e inmersión Además otros monitores eran más comunicativos pero el nuestro no nos sacó fotos prácticamente ni nos ayudó demasiado cuando tuvimos algún problema durante el paseo Sinceramente es la primera vez que me decepciona tanto una experiencia viator Salvo la inmersión que es espectacular en sí misma lo demás no está a la altura
